Having a problem with the S3+ miner I returned to Bitmain to exchange for a new miner. The miner they sent was not brand new, and I have having the same problem.  Please advise on what I should do now.  I already tried to upgrade the firmware.

Hello

I bought a used Antminer S3 but the user and password "root" doesn't work. The previous owner must of changed it.

Anyway to reset it?
Check Dogie's guide at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-dogies-comprehensive-bitmain-antminer-s3-setup-hd-702653.  There is a reset switch accessible from the front panel, next to the 2 LEDs and Ethernet connector.  You power it up, press the reset button through the hole using a paper clip or similar thin object, hold it for 5-10 secs.  This will reset it to factory defaults, including the password.

Cheers

Are the lights suppose to change when pressing the button? They all stay lite, like pressing it does nothing.

Yes they are, suggests the unit is on a firmware where the reset button's functionality is broken. While you wait for your seller to reply to your password email, you can SSH and control them from there. This will at least get you up and running.

1) SSH to S5, Login root/root
2) Type "screen -r". Wait for all the messages to go through.
3) Type "P" to enter Pool Management.

the user and password root doesn't work.

Code:
ssh [email protected]
Password: root

Should work...

Reset button will do that, assuming the unit was on one of the newer firmwares where it works.

freq. 150
adv. config voltage 065
HW .003 20 ment. idle

how to drop voltage

great solution, did the same with 2,2k: 310-315 GH/s at 185 W with Thermaltake Hamburg instead of 440 GH/s at 380W, thanks for your support.

As I killed 3 SMD Resistors (resistor part disconnected to soldering ends) , I figured out, that the full substitution is 1,2k.

At the end the resistor in circiut is 1,06k.

Does anyone have a copy of the 12/19 firmware?

I have 12/16 and 12/19.  Gotta find them.

Which of those is the best?

1219 is stable as hell.

That's how I feel about 12/16.  Scared to move from them.

i manage to undervolt my ant s3+. here is the result

stable at 305gh
freq 150
config voltage 065
HW .003 30 ment. idle
new firmware
191watts on wall i use digital corsair hx850i

Thank you for this..

however, if you change the config voltage, I doubt any change in watts at the wall. that setting has been disabled as per BITMAIN_Janet upthread just a bit.

your getting .62 watt / gh

really looking for someone to take this thing apart and see how we can reduce the actuall voltage to the chips more then just changing the freq does.

S3+ with disappearing 1 hashing PCB.

If you can still login to the Web Control Panel, please attempt to update to the newest firmware or December 19th version.

Power it off, check all the cable connections then let it power it up again.

If that doesn't work, more than likely your unit will need warranty work be done.  You can attempt to trouble shoot on your own to pinpoint the defective parts, or you can return the whole unit to be troubleshooted by the techs to avoid further loosing mining time.

Average RMA time is 1-2 business days, the working replacement will be send to you after the defective unit was received.

Must Include the following

Printed Bitmaintech.com Order Confirmation Page with Shipped Status
Printed Note: (Describing what is wrong with the unit)
*Please try to use the original box as possible

RMA Address

Bitmain Warranty
3700 Quebec Street
Unit 100-239
Denver, Colorado 80207

Tel: 844-248-6246 Option 2

*** If you have purchased Antminer else where other than http://www.bitmiantech.com or Amazon & Ebay account "Bitmain", please include your proof of purchase showing the payment date and item receipt date and the Response from the seller when you requested refund or warranty claims.  There may be a small fee assessed for out of warranty item, however, all antminer product can be serviced.  (Even S1  Grin)

I have a board that has died on one of my miners. I took the unit apart and checked all the connections, everything was fine. Nothing was burned up. Anything else I can try?

https://i.imgur.com/c1jzv9O.png

I know the miner shows under a minute running, but it had previously been running for 72+ hours like that.

I have had some of mine drop blades.. I just unplug the psu for a minute and restart and it has always come back to normal

I figured it was a loose connection, but I took it apart and let it sit for around 20 min before I powered it back up.

Replied to PM on this.
