so what i found out is using pc power supply's is OK but you cant push them to there max or it will just kill them in like a month or so and even tho you are using a good power supply you cant get all the power out of them without using every yellow wire on them or you can smoke and melt the wires.
when i was using all pc psu's i would cut all the plugs off then connect 1 black to 1 green then i would put all the black together and all the yellow together then i would have all the 12v it can do.
so with your psu i would divide all black and yellow into groups of 6 then re connect them to 6 pin this why you can run 3 s3's on it.

now don't believe it when bitmain say thy only take 355 w at the wall that is only if thy are way under clocked!!!! so most people end up pulling way too much power from there psu and killing it.

i use a 3000w platinum rated server power suppl
so i have the cleanest power i can get.

the best power at the wall i have gotten is
s3 384w
s3+ 390w
this is all at stock clocking s3+ use more power

also if you have s3+ batch 11 the program is screwed up and hash rate drops to nothing and the power is ether not set or is set way too high and you will need to ere flash back to the first 3 s3+ programs offered from bitmain but if you do that make sure you un check the saved settings box or it can crash and be un bootable

Please can someone help me with tis every time I cold reboot warm reboot or select save and apply from miner configuration  page!!! I don't now why it happens Huh??

The average  just don't increase. This happened to me no matter what firmware I use !

Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

i kinda tested this out and i think its just the ui that is messed up..

the pool is still reporting a regular speed.

Have you tried SSH'ing in, then commanding #/etc/init.d/cgminer stop, then, #/etc/init.d/cgminer start ?

You can accomplish the same thing through the web interface. Go to system > Startup find cgminer and click stop, wait for page to reload, then click start.  The restart option might work too but I always do the stop and then start to be sure.

Bitmain listen, no doubt.
We asked for an EU presence to reduce shipping costs, and this is the opening shot on that. Leaves margin for the buyer ....  I like it.

Well, saw the new title here and item on the BMT store.

So much for them givin a damn about the little guys who want one unit at a nice $115 S3+ that might actually ROI.

Looks like the cheapest thing they have is the S5 now.

*** Looks to BMT asking if they'd like him to bend over further since he's sure there's more room for another broom handle ***

Better to spend  $1,000.00 and buy 2 x SP20

This assumes one has 1k bucks to just throw away in a manner of speaking.

As for electricity being a concern, it's not for me. I tech get "free" electricity with a buddy of mine who has his own business so the higher watt units like the S3 compared to say an S5 or something doesn't matter too much.

But ya, it might be better to spend that much if someone has that much but still. I kinda feel like BMT's bein a dick here by doing that with the S3+'s.

I understand the need to move stock but this is just asinine.

If they allowed single buy S3+'s at $115 they'd make so much money. I mean someone with the funds might buy that bulk order but still, way to screw the little guy BMT.

Just upgraded 3 S3's to the antMiner_S320141219.bin  (Checksum: 7df1b12d28b25e10aac37e2eafc7397b).  It works with similar overall performance to the previous f/w version.

Cheers

I saw a new firmware.  Any news about it?
Should have the bugs fixed, its the same as the beta firmware that's been in testing for the last few days.

System Log please

but if you think it is defective, please DO NOT DELAY RMA process...  USA Domestic RMA goes very fast.

Please include Bitmaintech.com Order Confirmation with your returning units.

Please advise, this is my best S3+ out of the batch and it doesn't work.

I have about 25 miners, a mix of S3's and S3+. I have about 4 of them totally down right now. The warranty is not that long either, so if you are thinking of getting S3 or S3+ and not working many hours to keep them up and running, you better think again. I regret buying the S3+ now, I got about 25% DOA rate. It's next to no quality control, so I don't think the S5 is going to be any different. Very sloppy workmanship, shorts, faulty firmware, bad solder joints. Much to look forward to...

I feel lucky now. Got only two S3+ and both working as advertised. Sorry to hear about your high DOA rate. Bitmain service is very poor.

Just wondering, since these things run on 12v, has anyone tried running an S1 or S3 using a car battery?

Why? At best you'll get a few hours of a decent one and a battery will typically drop voltage as it discharges. Both of those don't really make them appropriate for mining with.

Maybe to run it of an old disel engine running on some cheap (disgarded/cooking/frying?) oil... Huh

The idea originated as an off the cuff semi-technical discussion around could you, then very quickly turned to should you. Could, yes. Should, no. For the reasons dogie cited, of course.

Where's a functioning water mill with 12v generator attached to provide extremely cheap energy to run miners when you need one?

Answer: Not around here. Sad

I would probably say couldn't for quite a period of the battery's discharge cycle. I'm not sure at exactly what voltage the S3 stops being able to hash but at something like 8, 9, 10V its not going to be happy at all.

i have 26 s3's and my s3' were crashing many times a day thy were working good and then crash down to 40 gh/s i have been working on this problem for a month and finely fixed them.
if you had flashed bitmains last firmware December that's the problem and reset wont work and if you flash back to earlier program it crashes the miner and is un bootable.
i am willing to enplane step by step how to recover the unbootable miner and flash crashing miners back to good firmware with success. bitmain is making tones of btc telling people the control boards are bad just like thy told me and i fixed it. it took me three hrs to set up and figure it out and now that im setup it only takes 15 minuts to fix a crashed s3's.
if you want the help i can give it and in return it would be nice to get a btc donation for saving you tons of time and money

Well like i said i fixed the firmware on the dead one that crashed from bad firmware with ttfp server program threw serial converter wiping the program and re installing new firmware.

i still had quite a few running with the bad firmware on them, so after bench testing 1 a few times i found out how to take the program back without crashing the miner.
i successfully took all the others with bad firmware back to the first s3+ firmware!

The trick to go back from the bad firmware  is to first make sure your at the stock clock speed then reboot then go to flash firmware  (un check Save settings)!! then load the proper file then complete flash.

If you don't set stock clock and uncheck save settings it will not recover from the flash.

Once it reboots you can get the next 2 firmware updates in order one at a time don't skip an update each update must be flashed.
this will take it back to ip .99 and then you set your mining and save , then pick your clock speed and save, then go to networks change your ip to what you want and save, then when all is done reboot the miner.

for s3
flash all 3 one at a time tell you get done.
make sure you uncheck the save settings box before each flash or it will crash
antMiner_S320140711.bin
antMiner_S320140721.bin
antMiner_S320140811.bin
if you want the s3+ program on your s3 keep going down the list
s3+
flash all 3 one at a time tell you get done.
make sure you uncheck the save settings box before each flash or it will crash
antMiner_S320140826.bin
antMiner_S320141013.bin
antMiner_S320141024.bin
for good firmware stop at the first one 0826 or the third one 1024 if you stop at 1013 you will have problems but you still need to flash it to get to the 1024 program.

if you still have the December program on it it is probably is going crazy! to flash back don't forget to uncheck the save settings box or it may not be rotatable

then all will be good!!!!!!!!!!!!
please donate me some btc if this helped you out saving you tons of time and money!! 1P3WnGzCgWD9tFYrBKHReP1VoqRFF4fEXB
