Does anyone have a direct link to the S4 complete image??
My SD card corrupted and I need to reimage one fast.
Thanks

Mega link, DHCP image

I'm a newbie, especially, to the S4.

I have the Oct. 3rd  File system version.  Is this link to the proper upgrade I should use?

Just want to get this right so I'm not sending an S4 I just got back to Bitmain.

You might wish to try get the one from bitmain's site.

I guess I assumed that it was already plugged into a switch so that it could pull a DHCP address , hence I was asking you to check end to end layer 1 connectivity back to the DHCP service .

Silly me .

LOL

I was doing it the way doggie showed in this S4 discussion.  Really, silly me.  Thanks for your help.  That at least got me going the right direction and kept me from pulling my hair out.  I was beginning to think the worst.  Doing something with an SD and flash.

Always glad to help people in their search for the right direction … Good luck .

My Airport extreme base station only allows 10.0   192.168    and 127.16

Will that be an issue if this S4 has 127.0 and not 127.16?

should not be an issue… I would think the AirPort would hand out 192.168.x.x addresses .. My S4's pull a 192.168.10.X from my DHCP without issue .

the 127.0.0.1 is just a loopback on most devices nowadays, the S4 will sit with that until it is able to grab a DHCP address .

Okay,

thanks very much

I'll give that a try

open the S4 and VERIFY that the cable to the front port is secure on both ends… I have seen were in shipping the cable comes lose from the BB controller to the run on the front of the S4. It happened more with the S2's but its always good to check . It sounds like the S4 is not talking DHCP to your airport . verify layer 1 end to end.

I've seen others mention "reflash" an SD card.

I have no idea what that is and if I can do it with my MAC.

Is 127.0 an IP for China or somewhere else other than US?

Wish they could send these set up for 192.168

So my batch 2 unit wouldn't work out of the box. The display was showing the IP as 127.0.0.1. After a bit of messing around, I figured the SD card was to blame and that a reflash was in order.

To anyone else that gets this, you can usually clear it by simply pressing and holding the reset button [on the LCD].

That didn't work in my case, I attempted that twice. Absolutely had to reflash the SD card.

Fixed

Hi dogie,

I'm having trouble with my S4 that arrived at my door step approximately an hour ago.  Mine has an IP of 127.0.0.1 posted on the LCD as well.  I have reset 3 times and it still has the same IP.

Is it possible you can tell me what to do?

Do you have a DHCP server running on your network ?

Yes

no static going

it is DHCP and everything is set up for 192.168 instead of 127.16

i hate that noise. I moved my SP10s to hosting for that reason, and bought $20 fans for the rockminer products due to it also.

silent products are key - even in a datacenter environment noone wants to blow out the eardrums to a shrill screeching fan

As I posted before, I am very surprised that not a single manufacturer addresses this with a new product (exception: S3 is/was acceptable).
Waiting for S5.

Its something I push strongly internally and with other manufacturers.

@ Bitmain:

Spondoolies just slashed reduced the price of their SP20 home miner - any chance you'll be doing the same for the S4?

It's needed & overdue....

SP20 - BTC1.795 delivered

S4 - BTC2.754 plus delivery

Come on guys - only a few hours before I pull the trigger, no prizes for guessing where  Wink

Sort it out.

i get slightly higher price for Sp-20 when delivered to US, but still below 2 BTC

Not related to Bitmain.. but the S4 comes with a PSU. I've considered getting the SP20 but after taking into account the delivery plus having to buy a PSU. The S4 seems to come up slightly on top. I'm in Singapore by the way, so shipping the SP20 is expensive for me.

"You can use combinations of power supplies to power the unit, such as 4 x 360 W, 2 X 720 W or 1 x 1400 W, by connecting the power supply/supplies rails to the SP20 accordingly."

I guess that's the problem with trying to pack them into as small a size as they can. Not going to be possible to get quiet 120mm fans wth 240+ CFM.... The smaller the fan, the higher the pitch. I've been trying to find quiet 120mm fans with 250+ CFM.. no luck.

Waiting for S5.

I'd be interested to know how much louder the S4 is to the S2 (S3s are perfect). Don't have my S2's anymore, but I remember the sound, which was OK with me (as I do remember the sound of the SP10s, and yes they went into hosting).

The S5 is clouded in secrecy for the moment, I maybe wrong, but I'm guessing:

1) Liquid cooled for the home miner.
2) Only available via hashnest?

We'll see.

If it quieter then S4, then the choice is clear. )

Its probably going to be close, the S4 is loud but its all rather low pitched where as the SP20 has that iconic whine.

SP20 - 2.158 BTC for me. Yes, I should buy a PSU for it, but... If it quieter then S4, then the choice is clear. )

I'll pass.

You get what you pay for...

I believe the S4 will be a great unit.  Especially once batch 3 comes out.
