Already in the cinema there is a new film "stranger". As critics say, the film does not meet expectations
But I still want to see.

I was skimming through the horror flicks on solarmovie and ended-up re-watching Maniac (1980 version with Joe Spinnell), Tom Savini has a cameo and did the special make-up effects.

Horror stories today are cliche, but there are some that are still good to watch. Anabelle, conjuring, insidious, the taking of deborah logan, lights out, sinister etc. I like thriller more like don't breath, hush, saw movies, final destination, wrong turn movies, texas chainsaw massacre, the final, jennifer's body, silence of the lamb Though most of them are old movies, they're still good.

I agree with the cliché thing. horror movies now are very predictable that it lessens the scare factor. I think the people who create horror movies find it harder to be different as they tend to just follow the trend and recreate parts of other horror movies that appealed to previous movie goers and watchers. Though I agree with you that there are a couple who still make it worth a while like insidious but in general, the quality of horror movies today are not like that of the previous decades

The whole genre is in decline. There were times when horrors were really horrors. Nowadays they are just cheap turds that the industry pops out like out of a conveyor belt. Guess cause of the inherent relative cheapness of the whole genre, everyone thinks they can get in, make a horror and score some quick bucks. It's just sad.

That and also most of the original ideas seem to have been tried already during and before the 80s.
