Hi Mythic ,

Using your method , i have been able to bring my vega 56 to start with 1730 - 1750 h/s per second from 1100 - 1200 h/s because i am using your script to disable and enable hbcc. ( this process because of your suggestion is automated).

however , i am not able to understand how to automate global wattman settings like increasing the gpu frequency to 30% , gpu memory to 950 mhz , reducing the power usage to 20% and toggling the fan speed to manual and putting the minimum fan speed to 3000 rpm , i would like to know if these processes can be automated , because doing it 1 time is oki , when power goes off , you have to do the 4 above processes once again.







Get overdriventool (latest version) and from your .bat file you just need to launch overdriventool before you launch your miner with -p options per card and profile (e.g. create a profile in overdriventool which sets fan speed, power limit and clocks, save it and give it a name of vega1, take note of the number against your Vega at the top, let's say it is 1, then put the following in your .bat file - overdriventool.exe -p1vega1).

I use the following lines for enabling/disabling if this helps...  Just be sure to pause between each.

devcon.exe disable *6B761002

devcon.exe enable *6B761002

Again, sorry I'm very much a novice. So would the .bat file be:

cd %~dp0
timeout /t 5
devcon.exe disable *6B761002
timeout /t 5
devcon.exe enable *6B761002

So... with 2 vega 56 i can reach 3923.6 for xmr with power draw around .... 50-80 idle , 310-320 on load. RM1000i. Not bad Smiley

I am just received answer from amd on my question about missing option for gpu workload on vega:

Vega products are already optimized for GPU workloads, so there is no toggle provided or needed.
Guess they never visit this thread then Wink

I went for an ASUS B250 Mining Expert and have a v64 and a v56 @ 64 along with a 1080 ti running stable. My main issue to date has been trying to get power draw at the wall to resemble hellae and everyone else's whilst maintaining high hash rates. I've found that the only way to curb power draw is to set core to go 1308/1100 @ 905 mV on both Vegas, 1408 core increases power draw at the wall by 100w for a ~200 h/s benefit. With the 1080 ti mining Zcoin (135w) total system power draw at the wall is 495w and the Vegas hash at 3650 h/s. That's not as good as I had hoped and I'm beginning to think the motherboard is the culprit. Power supply is rm1000x so I don't suspect that is the issue. Risers are 006c powered via 6 pin PCI-E, could they be causing higher power draw? Have followed all the guides and used hellae and my own custom power play tables - this has me stumped...

What voltages are you using for core and mem now? 905mV for both?

I'm just using hellae's 1100 HBM reg file with the core dialled back to 1400 instead of 1408 on both cards. I think it has 905mV core and 900mV memory but I may be wrong. Will need to check when i get some time to tinker with the rig again. Seeing others @ 1200 HBM makes me think I'll be back to tinkering very shortly...

Don't get a GQ.
They are crap.
Trust me I speak from experience. It's their cheaper, lower quality builds. I've had two fail on me in the space of a couple of months. I'm expecting the third one to crap out any minute basically. Fortunately they keep sending me new ones (RMA) but honestly I could do without the hassle.

I think the overclock.net forum has a vega bios thread where folks are pushing pretty high. I am at 1200 stable on an aircooled v56 flashed to 64 with just the 1200 SOC powerplay mod.  I have another card that doesn't like it though.


I had the same thing going but the oc,d soc didnt like me tinkering with other stuff and i eventually ended up with a clean install.


Im gonna try the new drivers first this time, just to see whats even possible and  if any luck come and replicate it on the BC driver with a SoC oc and so on

with tuned vega  you can use any good 800w psu for 3 vegas... even 750w ...  just need 4 pci cables and a splitter ... each card will draw approx 150w but  some will come from the pci express slot some from the pci express power plugs

Yeah I was wondering if an 8 pin splitter would be safe.

Mine seem to crash a lot


Motherboards make a HUGE difference. I only use higher end ones. The little extra is worth all the time and headaches saved.

Powersupply is another big thing.

Welcome to AMD world' nothing is static or clear here :p  Rember finding that stupid cause made me so angr after countless times overdoing everything correctly and still no powersavings Smiley

Is Anyone using watercooled cards here ? Have you testes how far you can push the HBM now with latest drivers eliminating tha wall for it ? On stock or maybe even at 1.4v... ?. I am guessing 1300mhz is doable with water but cant wind a watercooled for a decent price...

I will dedicate one of my air cards for being a guinnea pig whats the actual max you can do with adequete cooling. Stock card could npt even do 950mhz. With 64 bios its doing 1100mhz easy. I have a huntch that 1.4v might give us 1300HBM on the better silicon.

The Corsair HX1200 can power 4 Vegas but it is rather expensive.

1000w is more than enough to power 4 Vega 56. It is about 690w for my 4x Vega 56 rig on the wall. The vega 64 would use a little bit more but not much.

The problem is the number of 8 pin cables.  I haven't found a PC PSU under 1200W that can supply 8 8 pin cables.  The Corsair HX1200 is the lowest one I can find.  So it's time to get into server power supplies.
