His response was "I bet you wouldn't buy a pig in a poke, either.". And then he went off and wrote / provided the unit tests proving his assertions.

I think all manufacturers should provide sound recordings of their equipment. How else is one supposed to know if the missus will be ok with an ASIC mining device in the living room of a small apartment? How loud will the fans be? How obnoxious the tone? These are good things to be able to know before you buy. And why not phonographs? Vinyl is making a resurgence after all.
