I don't think altcoins have more chances, maybe some coins and will rise very quickly, but this is the exception to the rule. Bitcoin continues to be a trendsetter of the market and it all depends on his movement. The more he is this year very strongly, scored capitalization relative to all altcoins.
Actually the question is if there will be anytime a altcoin who could be better then bitcoin? So if you look at the technically site, i would say yes they are already a lot of altcoins who are much better on the technically site. But when you look at the value and the projects himself, i think no. The core developer are very smart and before they even change something they do a lot of test before it will be updatet.
I will say yes because bitcoin has ruined many investors due to huge dip in the price and now the price is almost stuck and not increasing for several months. People are converting their money to Altcoin. The prices of Altcoin are low and an investor can hold big quantity with low investment and if the price falls more the deficits will also be low and can be recovered easily.
In this situation it depends on wheather it is for long terms, so it is better to hold altcoins, in case there will be the monthly profit so it is better to hold the Bitcoin and to trade it and fix it at least once per month.

Bitcoin is different from altcoin and as it is, bitcoin is more developed and better decentralized than any other cryptocurrency in market! When making decision to buy or sell your cryptocurrency, you should give bitcoin priority because it is the flagship cryptocurrency for now!

As for me, no altcoin could surpass and replace the achievements of bitcoin. Bitcoins has passed all the tests of time and I believe that it will still be on top no matter how low it's price drops. Better start buying while the prices are low because it would still be profitable in time.
Bitcoin has the biggest developers team and is the most used cryptocurrency. The infrastructure that support bitcoin is biggest too.
Don't look just the price on Coinmarketcap when deciding which cryptocurrency is the "best". Think also if infrastructure is big enough and robust enough that it can work without problems.

For now I don't think that altcoins is better than Bitcoin. Cause Bitcoin price now starting to move forward. But some altcoins going down again and again. So at the moment Bitcoin is the best choice for me.

at least right now it is best to save IDR / USD because it secures the assets we have. we are reviewing 2016 the same as this, in 2019 I am sure to go up.

we cannot compare any altcoins to bitcoin because bitcoin will be in the history for sure and some altcoins will not survive the harsh environment of cryptocurrency. there are good projects that icos and altcoins produce but it will never be better than bitcoin.
During past days we saw a down of bitcoin. But we can't exactly say that it is going to vanish or die. Due to unstable nature of crypto economy there can be some ups and downs as same as happened in early times. When talking about alt coins it will be a better option to who don't have bitcoins. If you choose the correct coin by considering it's future value it will be a good future investment. Sometimes price down of BTC will cause to demotivate alt coin holders. But the thing is crypto market is unpredictable in most times. Hence the best thing is not depending on a certain one coin, and holding a good combination of coins including BTC or other major coins and also alt coins.

Right now, bitcoin is better than altcoin because the price now is down and we can expecting to see bitcoin price will rise again. Although the price only increases for a little price, we can still make a good profit from bitcoin. But we have a big list of altcoin that can also give us a profit but unfortunately, we need to detect which altcoin that can increase later and sometimes, we are difficult to choose the coin. So, at this moment, I think we can choose bitcoin only, and in the other moment, we can choose the altcoin.
