How exactly do altcoins gain value? There are so many altcoins out there and honestly you can see connection among these in terms of the drop and rise of price.

if you want to understand altcoin market then search for "Penny Stocks", that should give you a pretty good idea what you are dealing with. and in this market you have the addition of manipulation in form of pump and dump and lots of newbies and underage kids who got in because the market was open unlike other markets which you can't get in with 20 bucks!
so mainly the altcoins are gaining value based on speculation and thin air.

your question in the title is asking a very different thing though. it implies altcoins are fork of something which is true in 90% of them. they fork from other projects like bitcoin most of the time.

Bitcoin is the source or the father of all cryptocurrencies and altcoins are the sons of bitcoins and these altcoins have many projects depending on their whitepaper. Altcoins are very different from bitcoin but on the concept it's the same since it's a cryptocurrency. The increase of value of a crypto is depending on how successful it is. If investors are that many then the value of that certain project will increase.
In my personal opinion,as for Bitcoin were the first cryptocurrencies created, and in a nutshell, they are essentially an electronic form of currency. While Altcoins in essence function as bitcoin clones but with improvements in the speed of transactions, enhanced hashing algorithms, and better distribution methods.

I think bitcoin and altcoin are connected because when the bitcoin got red the altcoins also got red and when the bitcoin got green also altcoins got green. Also the thing is, before you can convert your altcoin to your country`s currency, you must need to convert the alt to bitcoin first, thats how cryptocurrency works on our country. So they are really connected, you cannot earn from altcoin here when there is no bitcoin.

Absolutely, alternate cryptocurrencies are currently base from the demand and supply of bitcoin so what ever comes first if the demand in the market are low they are pumping of value so makes it (green) and if the supply are  high or more in the market they are dumping makes it (red). Instances of volatile is always concern they are normal.

You should never think one of them without the other one. Especially most of alt coins are really dependent on bitcoin. They usually follow the trend of bitcoin . If bitcoin goes up they go up as well and if bitcoin goes down they follow it again. Bitcoin gets affected by alt coins too but not that much. It is usually bitcoin who shapes the future of the market.

No, altcoins are not from Bitcoin per se. However, their concept is from Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the pioneer cryptocurrency in the market, and in every market, there should be a pioneer asset where other assets would pattern their production from. Although they are supported by different technologies and are virtually different from one another, they also have similarities as currencies, investment and trade mediums, and hold-able assets that can be encased in the future.

My opinion on this is that altcoins were made and mostly patterned with bitcoin. In relation to the market movement trend, I would say that BTC and altoins were merely correlated with each other as what we had seen in the previous days where price of BTC had dropped big and same with the altcoins.
However, there were few altcoins that hasn't much affected during the market crush mainly because of it's good performance and reputation just like Ethereum coin.

There is a link to bitcoin as bitcoin is the gateway to crypto, and if you start with fiat, for a lot of coins you have to go via bitcoin before you can buy them. Also when there is a news report saying something about bitcoin, this is generally interpreted to mean the whole crypto market, so prices tend to move together on this sort of news.
There are also independent moves where one coin goes up or down according to its own developments, but this can be buried beneath bigger whole market movements.

Just like bitcoin, the value of altcoin is dependent on the demand it is gaining from the market. Basically, alternative coins started with crowdfunding and thus mean not from bitcoin. Alternative coin serve a particular purpose, its purpose attract people to invest on it. Price is dependent on how useful the project and how people will be benefited from it. An altcoin may only gain increase in value when the took interest on it and eventually gain demand and popularity.

The value comes from demand, if there is a huge demand for a coin and since most of these coins are not minable with fixed token supply, so as the demand for this coin increases the price also increases

In the real world, maybe, and for Bitcoin, surely. But when you see a lot of alt coins with a handful of early users, and thin order books with sell and buy orders simply not filling up, don't you think: there's no demand here. Yet that's still the price.

Just because something is scarce, doesn't mean it's in demand. Look at people who buy rare collectibles. Yes, there is a demand, but to me that doesn't really say anything if only a handful of people are willing to buy (and not for using even).

Now we can watch some fuss on the market of crypto. If several months ago altcoins were going down when BTC was growing, then today BTC is falling together with alts, and starts to gain with the other coins. Suppose that everything has changed, and now alts and BTC have the less connection than before.

They are gaining their values with the increasing demand. If a coin has some innovations or unique working styles, the demand to that coin increases and it can has a good value on the market.

Indeed if at first glance both look almost the same, they include digital currency, but much different,
Altcoin will not be able to stand without bitcoin while bitcoin is able to stand without altcoin,
Altcoin is arguably an alternative coin of bitcoin,
The purpose of making altcoin is to cover the weakness of bitcoin,
The weakness is the limited number of bitcoin in circulation at this time.

The main currency in cryptocurrency markets is Bitcoin. Its price tend to effect altcoin prices. Alts usually found Bitcoin runs and Bitcoin tends to fund alt runs. So their connection is obvious.
