How about you as a Lotto bettor do you buy more tickets when the prize skyrocketed and how many more tickets are you adding

Yes!
Here in Brazil, this year we had the biggest prize in history in the country's main lottery. This certainly motivates many people to bet, and I was also one of them, as I bet much more than I should have, and I didn't win anything Tongue

However, here the main difference and motivator for betting is not so much the amount drawn, but rather because the last lottery of the year is special... the prize does not accumulate, that is, there must be a winner. This means that if no one wins with the 6 dozens drawn, then the prize goes to whoever got just five right.
Then the chances increase.

But this year, 5 people managed to get all 6 draws right and I only got 3 right in a "pool" (collective bet) of more than 2000 bets.

I'm very unlucky!

Lotto is so popular here in our country that there's a lotto outlet on just about every corner of cities and towns in our country just the other day there was a long line of bettors because the Lotto 6/55 jackpot skyrocketed to P571,554,916.40 or $10,206,337 after no winners for a long time.

I don't usually bet on 6/55 Lottery only 6/42 and 6/45 because the probability is just too high on 6/55 but I have to take chances because of the huge jackpot, every bettor's chances are equal so from not usually betting 6/55 I am betting now and will continue betting until the jackpot is hit,  and so from buying two tickets I'm buying 10 tickets now to increase my chances the ticket cost 20 pesos here or $0.36.

Sometimes I make two of my tickets when the prize is big before but nothing happens, so I did it now even though my prize stick is already big for one. Really just trust in God if you get lucky and give it to you. I realized that no matter how many tickets you buy, if it's not for you, it's not. Yes, you have a high chance of winning the jackpot if you have a lot of tickets, but it is still not guaranteed that you will get it, you just have to rely on luck.
True! Imagine a large number of lotto bettors; almost all the people in that country do lotto; the probability to win will be too small. Yes,  you have the probability to win, but buying more tickets or betting more combinations of numbers will not give you a higher chance of winning. It may seem helpful, but it is not, as the winning number is a random combination, so if you compute or calculate the probability, you will not even have a 1% chance to win.

But we can't stop other people who believe that the more tickets they buy will make them win someday. But if you think practical, you will see and notice that as you buy more tickets, you will eventually feel the burden of losing money, as you have a strong hope that you will win someday if you keep on betting. You are right, it depends on luck and destiny, and we never know if we are chosen to win such a huge amount or the jackpot.

At this point buying more tickets is not really going to help since the chances are already very low unless you're going to buy so many that it is going to increase your chances to around 50% but that is just not worth it if you're going to buy that much. For sure the trick is just to buy one probably every day and just let your luck decide about it, for sure it wasn't for everyone, and winning the lotto is totally life-changing.

It just doesnt make sense to buy more tickets for a lotto since you're going to lose most of the time, and we can't really afford it buy more just to increase our chances a little bit, I mean most of the winners that I've heard only have one ticket, but i know some people who buy many tickets for lotto but doesnt really win so I guess it wasn't really worth it spending more unless the chances are increasing to more than 10-20%.

Lotto was very popular in my country and there were already a lot of people who won, especially when the winning money already increased to half a billion in our currency, In my opinion winning the lottery is just about luck. you just cant expect high chances of winning just because you buy 10 tickets rather than 1 in this situation because there were just too many combinations.

if you want to have a real increase in chances you need to buy "tons" of tickets and spend a considerable amount.
but in the end you would still very far from the real possibility of winning even If you have spent a lot of money!
no, buying more tickets in these lotteries is never a winning idea  Undecided
Tickets matters and there are gambles ongoing which might later become risky for our existence because most of these people they have no clue on the operations of the system. Winning depends on how lucky one will become in the system. Perhapes its not a good idea for one to buy numerous tickets, what's the occasion? It's not a welcome able idea and it's means of buying and expecting a winning, what if he or she doesn't have the end result finally? It means every other activities that have been excluded because they focused so badly on tickets and at the end of the day, no winning.

Nope, i just stand on what my numbers in one bet lol. More bet/ticket means another cost to me and i stand that winning lottery is by luck. No matter how many your combination number is or number of tickets if you're not lucky enough, it's just a waste.

If you get a win in a 0.000001% winning chance, that means you spend all your luck that is worth or part of your lifetime. Lol and i'm willing for that anyway.

I just started recently since it's easier to bet online using an account of PCSO (Philippines lottery) for a person like me to get a ticket.

Nah, even if we calculate the probability of the given lottery, it's still hard to increase the chances of winning unless you are pretty rich to afford many tickets plus the hassle of writing down all of the numbers you have used. Well, there's no harm if we try to increase the number of tickets just consider it an investment as you have still a chance to win millions.
This is exactly the point I was waiting to see... It's a strategy and definitely under a huge, baseless probability -- there are times you won't even get a turn over that equals one portion of the stakes you made... It's called the "COMBO" option.

Any strategy introduced into gambling has it's own complicacies... You must either be ready to pay the price or allow yourself to be plung in pool of cold waters do you know how that feels??...

I've seen people check these scratch ticket games online. One guy in my country even bought a $1k worth of these tickets that cost less than $1 each and they were checking them for days to see how they do. These have much higher chance to win than real lotteries and they still lost about half of their money. They won a lot, maybe 5% of the tickets were good, but most gave you the price of the ticket time 2 or times 3, so eventually they were down close to $500 and none of the 1000 tickets had any high prizes (higher than $10).

Lotteries are the worst type of gambling, don't waste your money.

I always hated the lottery because even if the person bought a lot of tickets, it wouldn't increase the person's chance of winning because the person doesn't know how many tickets other people bought and how many tickets were made by the company that is running the lottery and also the person doesn't know if they really the lottery winner did not agree with the company running the lottery, for example, a few months ago I traveled to another city in my country where my relatives live and in that other city one of my relatives plays the lottery a lot, so when I was walking with She and we got close to some point selling lottery tickets, this relative of mine who plays the lottery bought tickets and gave them to me and even trying to refuse to participate didn't do any good because he bought and gave me the ticket

but I told him that I'm not someone lucky, but he insisted that one day I would be lucky, I just don't believe that and I kept asking myself why he was spending money on buying lots of lottery tickets, it's funny that while I was asking myself this question, a lot of people showed up at the lottery ticket sales station and all those people were buying a lot of tickets each person, so I started to assume that they were all buying a lot of tickets to increase their chances of winning, but that was a useless movement because there were thousands of people buying tickets, so the winner would depend solely on luck, the amount of tickets each of them had would not be very useful

How about you as a Lotto bettor do you buy more tickets when the prize skyrocketed and how many more tickets are you adding

Lottery had been a very common thing in my family for many years. My grand father played the lottery all his life and had a fixed set of numbers he would always play. My mother is playing regularly as well and always pick the birthdays of her kids. The problem is that both of them never won anything for all the money they used to buy the tickets. I am the complete when it comes to the lottery, I don't have a fixed set of numbers and I also don't play every week. It makes the most sense for me to only play when the jackpot is very high and then I play more numbers. So, instead of playing when the jackpot is low I just save my money and play usually 6 fields when the jackpot is near a new ATH. It's all about maximising my winnings if I ever manage to beat the jackpot.

It's not about buying the tickets repeatedly that makes one win the jackpot, sometimes it's just a way they they also have developed to help increase their own income level while trying to make the lottery offer in other to earn more from the public aspirants, we can only make a single purchase and win, we may decided to make multiple entries and not win yet, everything is under risk if we are playing and we have the chances of winning or loosing just as the same as someone who's gambling.

The more you buy lots of lottery tickets, the more it indicates that you are truly ambitious to win. And if you are too ambitious in gambling, then the gambling will become uncontrolled which could cause you to place bets carelessly without considering everything. Gambling must be done calmly and in complete control. Because believe it or not, the more ambitious you are, the more you will lose. Lottery betting is indeed a type of gambling that is difficult to win, considering that the chances of winning are very small. But with self-persistence in carrying out careful analysis without rushing, someone can turn this small possibility into a victory.

But I buy tickets from within my limitations, it's not like I go beyond my afford and buy tickets, I am limited within a regular budget.

Buying more lottery tickets does not increase your chances of winning. It only increases the amount you lose if you lose. But many people don't care about this because they think the more tickets they have can increase their chances of winning. The possibility of winning will be greater, so they are willing to spend additional money to buy the ticket. If it were me, I would stay within my limits in buying lottery tickets because I don't want to lose more and more money. We must control how many lottery tickets we buy so we don't spend the money in one day. There are still many other lottery tickets that we can buy in the next rounds, so it's better if we just save the money for another day even though maybe the prize won't be as big as that day.

We're on the same country, mate! That's true, the jackpot prize is really high and many fellow filipinos are eager to hit the jackpot but I for your question, I will not spend a lot and purchase a lot of winning tickets just to have a chance to win because of the number of people who bet on the lottery, we can't even say if the numbers we chosen will come out. maybe I will bet only one or up to 5 tickets and will not go beyond that but still I'm one of those million who's hoping to hit the jackpot prize.

Buying more tickets is not a guarantee that your chances of winning will be higher. This is because gambling is based on luck and not by how much that you have used to stake your bet or betting many times.

Lotto is something that is not easy unlike other gambling games and I see some lotto gamblers offline here in my neighborhood, they are always with bunch of newspaper to forecast the right number that will give them the opportunity to win big.

Not really, to really make your chances higher and your win more likely to happen, you'd have to buy a lot of tickets and you got to spend a lot of time and mental power to cover all the potential combinations and if you look up the chances of winning in lottery based off of number combinations, you'd just be so crazy to do even just covering the 25% of it. Just take the 1 in billion chance to win instead of 5 because you're spending more when it's not likely the win will be yours.

No, I don't. I only play the lottery from time to time and I don't get carried away because there's a big jackpot. Actually mathematically it makes more sense to play when there is a jackpot if the expected return is higher than what you are going to bet. The problem is that in the lotteries I play the jackpot is concentrated in the first prize or in the first 3 at the most and you can spend your life betting and not win. If we had eternal lives it would make sense because the expected return is higher than the stake and with large statistical samples the real return would converge with the expected return.

Wow. I didn't know it was that high. It's somehow tempting when you see that huge sum of money. Cheesy
I don't really bet on lotto and it had been decades since I last bought a ticket. Me and my wife like to play that easy game which is "Scratch it" where you can claim the prize instantly as long the card has the winning combination.
Anyway, I wish you good luck. Betting more doesn't really enhance the chance of winning in my opinion or I am just too pessimistic about this national game of ours. There's no one in my circle who likes betting on the national lottery anymore and I think that's also one of the reasons why I forget about this. Before, it was my grandfather who never forgot to make a bet but after he was gone, no one in the family ever tried to bet again.
It's one of the gambling games that I saw where a gambler could not even win in his entire life and my grandpa is an example of that. He just wasted money without having any chance to win. Not even the 5 numbers where you get a consolation prize. I think his highest was 4 numbers which is just enough to cover all his bets for the day.
