You don't have to, if you have an online wallet. My concern was having two programs fighting for the same port.

To give the flag, either run it from the command line or make a shortcut and edit the shortcut and type in --http-port 8330 after bfgminer.exe

If there is a " after bfgminer.exe then add the flag after it

Michael

Thanks for the suggestions Michael!

I ran bfgminer with the --http-port 8330 and reconfigured the blade as well to port 8330...

It connected to slush and started hashing slowly then reset at 2 min. 20. secs...

same problem... im totally lost at this point!

any other ideas? ill try anything.

Everything looks configured correctly, but your proxy is throwing a bunch of errors.

Hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

Have you tried BFG Miner, I see you are using Windows 7, so unless it is starter it is most likely 64 bit. Download the 32 bit version anyway and give the "--http-port 8330" flag. You can then have it connect to slush pool and change your port on the blade to 8330.

Also, are you running bitcoin-qt in server mode on the same computer?

The errors pop up everytime the blade resets itself.

I have tried bfgminer 32bit version with no success... I'm sure i did something wrong though...

how do i give the "--http-port 8330" flag?

I am not running bitcoin-qt... should i be?

I have been running bitcoin-qt everytime i sleep or leave the house for over a month now and it has never finished syncing!

Hey guys i got the same problem with my blade resetting every 2 min...

What was the fix you found for this? factory reset?

How are you connecting, the blades won't do stratum. What pool are you trying to connect to.

You will most likely have to use stratum mining proxy

Michael

Thanks for the reply!

I am running stratum proxy and i'm connected to slush's pool.
Ive gotten up to 15% efficiency before the inevitable reset at around 2 min. 30 secs.

I tried factory reset and reconfigured from scratch... no help...

I even took a brand new blade out of the box and it gives me the same problem!

any ideas?

Thinking about trying a different pool... any suggestions?

Hopefully you can see it. If not just give the argument -h and it will list them  or right click on the image and open it in a new tab.

Thank you caminilegroup and trevorh. Got both blades up and running.

Next question: Where is a list of all the command line "mining_proxy" commands.  I remembered the "-o" one and that got me up and running with my mining pool, but I dont remember where I saw that or others.

Well there goes my paper clip theory, the official tool is tweezers.

Thanks, I didn't even think to google image search for it. At least I know it won't let the magic smoke out.

Regarding the factory reset. I just pulled one of my blades and was looking at it.

Your blade might have the headers on it or it might be like mine and not.

It looks like if you short 2-3 it will perform a factory reset.

I am not responsible for any damage, I am just reading what is on the board.

A paper clip could do it, it also looks like it has a serial output right next to it for debug purpose. I might mess with this to see.

Hope that helps.

I had the same issue. Use slush's stratum proxy to overcome this. Right now I have two blades and the stratum proxy running on my mac mini. The blades connect to the proxy via getwork and the proxy connects to whatever stratum pool I set it too.

I don't think the blades can connect to stratum for some reason, at least I couldn't get them to directly connect.

Windows works XP and up. Just make sure you have .NET 3.5 installed. If on mac you can use the directions for install on linux using git if you want to make a build.

I have tested it on ubuntu 10.04 to the latest version using git.

To me this is the best route, I have a couple scripts so if I want to change a pool I just shut down the proxy and start a new script instead of having to reconfigure each blade.

Here is what your config screen should look like though:

Keep in mind, your ip's and username may differ.

Here is the proxy running on the mini:

Here is a good guide on setting up the blades.
