I haven't found any reports of AM hardware catching fire. Not in hardware threads either. KfC however....thier chips catch fire occasionally, that is if you actually receive them (preorders from 3 months ago are just being produced, not even shipped yet)

check in CrazyGuy group buy thread. There are several examples of prisms catching fire

I checked, and there are some cases. The majority seem like just a blown cap or similar component failure, with some surrounding damage. But there seems to be at least one case of a real fire. Seems they have some problems with the design of the prism. Sad

Looks like " Hashie " cloud mining is selling AMhash now too, good news.

so basically they probably bought 100-200TH from AM at a slightly discounted price and are now selling it at amhash2 ipo price....
They normally don't give big price breaks on stuff for bulk I don't think this is the case.

ffs roadstress, this is AM security thread, not HW.

If AM boards are spontaneously combusting, in your mind that is irrelevant to the company selling them? Its not like this is the first such report.

exactly.

..in the hardware threads. I dont even think its been mentioned here. You'd rather have investors not know I guess.

sry aint gonna feed you more guys, i want these issues, kindly articulated by those venerable members, to be addressed first.

Again a biased reaction. When I raised issues you accused me of trying to sell SP-Tech gear. When someone else raises issues it's ok. When I post a picture it's not ok. When you or someone else posts pictures it's ok. I got used with your biased reactions, don't worry!

besides being well articulated, the issues they raised are coherent with the timing and their personal stake.
you are just a silly monkey squeaking to get attention.

when are we going to see some financial statements? AM seems to be busy busy but where is the money going? solomining? all sold to private investors as Datatank? what is going on? is AM just a shadow? are all profits being syphoned into umbrella companies?

I want FC to address this BS, not one of his minions to come on here and simply deny. That has been the course for over a year and things are just sliding further down. dont talk to me about LONG range goals and long games... we get no info, no divs and tanking share value. What part of this equation is ok? answer=none of it!

Its a mystery what is going on with FC and AM.

In agreement, its pretty damn dark here without any news of what is going on
Haven't seen a financial in a long time either so a lot of clarification is due.
Until then as you mentioned still a mystery.

+1. I'm personally waiting for more clarification by the board members/team etc. I still believe in the long term viability of ASICMiner, it's just that the lack of information is really depressing.

well, the real problem for me is; we hear about things like Datatank and that it was completely sold to private buyers months after the fact and the coresponding fact that dividends vanished around the same time. So then, to me, it looks like this; FC sells Datatank to his buddies, puts entire AM operations into immersion cooled mining, send all future profits to buddies, AM shareholders get nothing. Same logic applies to Amhash. Unless the structuring of these side-businesses and thier financial relation to AM, and the complete financials of AM is made public I can only assume we are all being sold down the river.

Come on FC, allay our fears!

oh, nevermind  Angry

friedcat - communication is important. When you communicated you could get great valuation, raise funds & do great things. Please get a real PR person and get professional about it.

Not to mention, they'd sell a shitton more product too.
Everyone's always in "figure out AM" mode.

I'm not down for mystery or puzzles anymore.
I need a moneymaker.
+1. Been a staunch AM holder almost since their inception, and I sincerely wish they're more open now that it's hurting shareholder interests (and their own). They seriously need to get a PR person like what they advertised for, and start releasing regular financial sheets.

Meh.  Still pretty bearish.  Won't consider investing in this until 100% of AM gear self-combusts.

Really? What about:
IMMERSION COOLING

Also I don't see you criticize this post either:

FinFET isn't magic word that alone can reduce power consumption 10 times (vs 20nm planar). It allows to power devices with little bit lower voltages, and this maybe a secret of 0.07W/GH - low power mode. But performance will be ~1/3 of nominal. At normal operation speed it will be more like 0.15W/GH (0.2W at wall).
Of course KnC propably will decide to operate @ low power modes becuse they have access to cheap chips, so it's better for them to put 3 times more miners than have 2 times more power costs.

+this
...
25 MW worth of 0.07 w/gh hardware is ~350 PH/s. A dozen wafers will get them nowhere.
with new node proccess and yield @ 50%....

Can KnC get a better yield after they receive and test the first set of wafers? If yes then it's a matter of 3-4 months until they can fill their DC.

On another note:

Kaboom!

AMHash is created by rockminer, not ASICMINER.

It's managed by Rockminer.

In this contract, the hashrate is provided by ASICMiner, the management is provided by RockMiner, and the platform is provided by HavelockInvestments.
...
Risk control
1. Before IPO closes, ASICMiner has the right to buy back at the price of IPO price * 100.5%.

If it was owned by Rockminer, then Rockminer would have the right to buy back, not ASICMiner.

Claims of 0.1W/GH at the wall are being made by Bitfury and Spondoolies for their next gen 28nm chips next year. Saying one couldnt do as good, let alone better with 16nm FF+ is ridiculous. Whether or not KNC can and actually will do it remains to be seen of course, but the claim by itself seems perfectly plausible.

Likewise, TSMC 16nm FF+ already is in risk production:

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has reached a new milestone. On Wednesday, the company announced that it has entered risk production for its 16nm FinFET Plus (16FF+) process.

It is yet another sign that the world's largest chip foundry is ahead of schedule with its first 3D chips that will be at the core of a new generation of smaller, more powerful mobile devices, according to analysts who cover the company.
[...]
TSMC is conducting small-volume shipments of 16FF+ this quarter, according to Peng.

I would say it's close cooperation of those two....
