Can you please answer my question: "What is your source for that all of 1st batch has already been sold?"
Sorry, I thought someone answered this question for me so I ignored it. source is a translation from a roxxie post, he is making boards with AM chips and is one of the "certified" retailers. His information has been good in the past. The specific post with the translation is in this thread... somewhere, I tried to run some searches to find it but I had no luck, then I got blocked from searching. It was posted within the last month.
Anyone happen to have a link to it?
you are making predictions about the future that you cannot know (noone can!). doesnt' matter how things "start" it's how they end up. litecoin is popular and is likely here to stay even with scrypt asics. competing technologies (even with few innovations or differentiation is ok). it really doesn't matter what your personal opinion on scrypt coins are since this isn't an "ideological" undertaking. i keep trying to make you understand that it really doesn't matter your hate relationship with other coins when the market cap for them is much higher than of bitcoins when AM went operational. If friedcat has the will and talent there is nothing WRONG with making extra 50/100 million selling scrypt asics this year regardless of if litecoin will be dead in 10 years (newsflash: bitcoin can die off with almost similar odds).
since friedcat is a smart engineer AND a businessman that decision is solely up to him. if KNC thinks it's worth it i'm pretty sure that it is worth it (they are pulling in 25 million of batch 1)
What you do not understand, is that friedcat already looked into Scrypt and decided it was a no go. Some parts of bitcoin are about making money, and some are ideological, I personally feel that even if we could make money off of scrypt asics, we should not get involved. Yes, altcoins can be a place for innovation, and then you roll things into bitcoin if they are a good idea. Litecoin can be looked at as a test to see if a different hashing algo would possibly be better for bitcoin, and that experiment has now failed. Litecoin has no utility over bitcoin now, and should die.
Not only that, but a vast majority of AM investors have large Bitcoin holdings, furthering the value of bitcoin as a whole is in our best interests. Branching out into other coins may earn us more direct profit.. but far fewer of us hold LTC. When we put efforts into bitcoin, not only do we get direct rewards of bitcoin, but we also make the bitcoin we are earning, and have earned previously worth more.
