Thanks for the update, friedcat.

We need to get out of the ASIC stone age.

Smaller node chips cost more money and time to develop.  Switching nodes is like shifting gears: you want to shift not too late nor too early but just in time.  Some have decided to shift earlier (or even start on the second gear), and friedcat decided to shift later.  We shall see who got closer to "just in time".

I can't imagine the Herculean workload you are undertaking right now TAT... no one can say that you aren't earning your management fee! Good luck!

He is indeed.  That's why I decided not to transfer my shares right away, but to leave them alone to be auto-converted to direct.  When things settle down a bit, I will import them back.  You know, just to relieve at least my tiny bit of strain on TAT and Ethan.  And as additional benefit, I get to choose the best exchange later than the crowd (could have chosen BitFunder and have additional worry now).  Maybe another exchange appears.  Or maybe I just wait till the Colored Coins are finished and friedcat converts direct shares to them.

I'm not sure a hidden service wouldn't work just as well.  Somebody should just buy Burnside's code and use Tor.

They wouldn't.  Hidden services are too slow for trading, and too cumbersome for serious investors.  Besides, they would imply association with the black markets, which wouldn't help building trust.

Colored Coins, on the other hand, are elegant, efficient, fast, simple, secure, awesome and sexy.  Only not quite finished yet... Cry

So if you want to sell hardware, energy consumption per GH/s does matter.

cost per GH/s matters more

Moving to 22/28nm is the solution. If the competition can, why can't AM?
I'm curious why you would assume they are not moving in that direction.

Are gen2 not ASICs as well?

They are, but hopefully not stone age ASICs Smiley

I means the current generation uses what? 7.5W per GH/s? Compare that to the competition rolling out ASICs @ 0.5 W per GH/s

Most miners buying AM hardware are residential miners. They can only pull so much power out of the wall before things break or people (flatmates, landlords, wife, etc) freak out due to heat, space & noise concerns. So if you want to sell hardware, energy consumption per GH/s does matter. A lot.

Immersion cooling for Gen1 hardware is just a band-aid. Moving to 22/28nm is the solution. If the competition can, why can't AM?

Hopefully AM is taking the long view of things. Bitcoin is here to stay and that means mining is going to continue for the next 20+ years (or hundreds, but let's not go there...)... a few months here or there in deployment is just a blip on the timescale. I am sure that this immersion cooling will come in handy with any generation of ASIC hardware in the future.

On an unrelated note... will http://erpao.info/ report the hashing power from the immersion cooling data center as well?

Quick Update

We are still on track of accumulating reinvestment funds, continuing from last month, so please expect less-than-raw-income dividends in the next few weeks. The financials will be given out in October 20s, as mentioned in the last update.

Self-retained (not sold) Hashrate distribution:

Air cooling datacenter - 47TH/s
Under franchising - 19TH/s
Immersion cooling - 5TH/s with 3-5TH/s per day towards 60TH/s in total.

Where's the 500TH?

You said AM will have another 500TH/s in October.BUT only 60TH/s will be deployed. So AM is going to sell the other 440TH/s,am I right?

That means 44000 blades must be sold in in such a short period of time.Really tough task.

TAT.ASICMINER BTCT.co UPDATE

Due to technical issues, we unfortunately cannot facilitate migrations of TAT.ASICMINER shares to Bitfunder. BTCT.co shareholders MUST use an account at HavelockInvestments.com

If you haven't already, please RESUBMIT your transfer request and include your HAVELOCK account email address.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is due to a technical limitation with Bitfunder's ability to import users. You MUST choose Havelock.

Also, please note that all of these migration issues and exchange changes may cause a delay in the issuance of dividends.

Great! Is there still a goal of self-retaining ~10% (or some fixed fraction) of the network?

We don't need more Gen1 hash power, financials or updates. We need to get out of the ASIC stone age.

I gotta agree,  we need new Bitfury-or-better USB devices like yesterday.

That said, I'm sure Friedcat is painfully aware of this fact and the dip in AM valuation is only temporary. I.e. it might be good time to buy some shares @ <1 BTC. The sellers will have paid their reinvestment fees for you and you will be able to reap the rewards in the future. (Assuming Gen2 will be competitive for at least a quarter or 2)

Is this "118.244.207.6" an Asicminer franchise, they just found a block and 21 coins have been added to AM mining address

and 4 coins were "forgotten"? I don't think so I think it is hardware sale.

you think that the franchise does things for free? Smiley Of course they have to pay for electricity, server rooms, they also have to make some profit so I don't think that they will send 25 BTC each block they find. Also I think most of the franchising partners are just mining on some pool...

that block and IP address are totally unrelated to AM. It's probably 100TH mine.
