Not all altcoins are pump and dump go look at Ethereum and Monero....bitcoin can't upgrade its tech right now because of the miners. Myspace used to be king then Facebook came and took the throne. I hodl both bitcoins and altcoins long term because I know there is a future for crypto. Maybe an altcoin with better tech will dethrone bitcoin in the future maybe not but in the end as long as the crypto market grows I won't lose money.

IMO there are two reasons why people buy altcoins.
1. It is hard to buy a full BTC as the rate is too high and as the rate is high, the probability of getting 2x of your investment is less.
2. Altcoins pump and dump more. You may get 2x, 3x or 5x in a short amount of time if you have predicted well about an altcoin's future.

Interesting. I think answer lies in why do people keep on making new and new coins? It is because they are free to do so!
And if people have high degree of persuasion power then they are able to get quite good funding by presenting similar thing in new boxes. This give value to coin and later on investors make it instrument of gaining speculation profits. Rest these coins have nothing to do with economic productivity.

Yes, and they will buy alt coins because in practical ways , alt coin is more cheaper than buying bitcoins. Alt coins maybe cheaper but we may convert it to bitcoins, in that case, saving and investing a lot to alt coins it will result a more and more bitcoins when converted. But it when it is low and sell it when the price satisfies you.

Because people want to invest their long therm profitable bitcoin to much more short therm profitable altcoins. In such a way you can multiply your amount of bitcoins quite fast, or loose them quickly. That's why one should carefully make investment decisions.

I mostly buy them for long term investments and to a lesser extent also for actual use, usually when Bitcoin's transaction fees are just too high.
I'm a big fan of Litecoin and I'm seeing that the project has quite a lot of momentum going on now with the recent Segwit activation.

Yes, altcoin prices are low, But if you master the science of trading then we will also get a greater advantage.
The profit can exceed 1 btc if really reliable trading science.

Trading is the main reason and we do know what we would get on doing trading is we would get profits but choosing an altcoin isnt an easy stuff because seeing on the current number altcoin on the market there are lots to choose from which means chances of getting a good project would be less thats what makes it hard.Altcoin can make us some money if we do know to trade it but only to the potential ones.

It is through altcoin that people can gain more profit compared to bitcoin. Bitcoin price is more stable and high, alt can rise 2x 3x or even more than 10x. I believe there's some people who invest believe the project future, but most alt is just a vaporware with no real life use, only driven by hype. It's better to buy alt to multiply your bitcoin rather than just 20-30% increase if you leave your bitcoin and do nothing.

i don't think so because you buy altcoin with bitcoin only and you are better using bitcoin to play those games you are talking about than wasting time with buying altcoin, that are very instable and can make you lose value

1st, you should trade bitcoin with fiat currency
2nd, you can trade bitcoin with altcoins

Yes lots of people are doing altcoin trading, Usually, they will buy as much as possible and hold to get the best price, that's how they earn a profit of up to 2X

It was seeming that altcoins have no real usage in real life but now watching recent projects which ran crowdfunding campaigns have solid projects which gives solutions to some really existed problems which banks were not paying attention. Altcoins are entering in serious phase just like Bitcoin did at start with some uncertainties before making its mark.
