I have been using this mobo for the last couple of months.

I had no problems with 6 GTX 1070 GPUs. I bought another 3 of the same, and I could only make it work with 8.

I updated BIOS to 0403 and tried to install the 9th, but the hashrate of *all* GPUs dropped to half. Went back to 8 and it works smoothly.

I updated BIOS to 1001 today but the 9th card isn't recognized at all in the BIOS screen. Anybody has tried with more than 8 cards and succeeded?

I am running BIOS 1001 and 12 GTX 1070ti SC Hybrids on the Asus Mining Expert no problem, using two 110 volt power supplies, one 1600 and one 1000 watt both titanium EVGA, GPU's are staggered throughout the three channel banks, I did not limit them to the first two although I am only using two power supplies, in addition I am not plugging any Molex into the 3 AUX channel bank plugins,

running SMOS boot from USB, with clocks set to 200 core, 1400 memory, 130 watt, drawing a total of 1750 watt at the wall, including all cards and Mobo, trying to stay below 1800 watt due to the smart plug stating it will only pass 15 amp, and I believe going over that ruined one of them for me, and I really like the utility of the smart plug when I am away from home,

nop wrong u need bios update for cpu fixed on linuxed.

WHY would you need to update a BIOS that is NOT IN USE AT ALL by the time these bugs CAN be invoked?

a bios update AND os patch is needed on any affected platforms to fix the "Meltdown" and "Spectre" bug.

linux is an affected platform http://www.zdnet.com/article/the-linux-vs-meltdown-and-spectre-battle-continues/

That article doesn't even mention BIOS at all.
Do at least READ an article before you attribute things to it that are not there.

Hint - LINUX "kernel" is NOT a BIOS on a motherboard.
It's the core of the Operating System itself - kind of like DOS used to be in the Windows 3.x/Windows 95 days.

The bug is STILL PRESENT even with the "fix" installed, the "fix" is a work-around to AVOID the bug.

A BIOS upgrade might be needed for Windows since Windows continues to use BIOS functions while it's running, but it's not going to do ANYTHING for LINUX since LINUX does not USE the BIOS for anything past very early initial boot steps, while the bug doesn't start cropping up 'till a much later stage.

I'm really not sure WHY a BIOS update would be needed though, or how it would work to do anything about working around the bug involved.

The "Meltdown" and "Spectre" vulnerabilities are a CPU issue, NOT a BIOS issue.

It seems the fix Intel released needs a bios update to fully work, you can install only the fix but the bug will still be present, The fix will only work fully with a bios update.

"Since publishing the Meltdown benchmark we now have access to BIOS updates that deliver a microcode update which will mitigate the Spectre flaw on Intel’s latest Z370 platform. "

"Following up to our initial testing of the Meltdown patch for Windows 10, today we're looking deeper into the matter by testing a patched desktop system, by addressing the two now famous security flaws, Meltdown and Spectre, by applying the OS-level patch and a firmware update, more precisely a motherboard BIOS update."

I'm not sure but this bios could be related to meltdown, spectre, they said about stability, have my own doubts.

The "Meltdown" and "Spectre" vulnerabilities are a CPU issue, NOT a BIOS issue.

I'm fairly certain that the BIOS can't work around the issue - DEFINITELY it can't for LINUX as LINUX doesn't USE the BIOS after a very early part of the boot process.

more then 8 nvidia cards is always a shitstorm

13 amd cards always worked, just plug n play with latest drivers (compute mode).

any cpu is a fail if using more than 90% 24/7, as long as it below 90% is all fine.

Neo,

Why Kabby Lake i5 7400T? Celeron is enough.

Another miner that considers Celeron a fail for 8 GPU builds:

You have to be right, I think the same thing, because of the words "cpu microcode".

Select "OS" as "other".
 That's where it's at.

Very strange. BIOS has nothing to do with version of OS, BIOS is BIOS on its own.

I've NEVER seen a "working on more than 6 reliably" report.
Checking in as another 8x Vega miner, though on the ASRock H110 - 15,760 of that sweet Monero hashrate, every second.

On topic, I'm glad I found this, as I was actually expecting to be able to run 18 RX570s on this thing. Though is the limitation the motherboard or Windows?

(Edit: After seeing other threads, I see the mobo won't even POST with over 13 of the same card... very weird, I definitely don't understand how any motherboard would care which GPU manufacturer is being plugged in, though someone mentioned potential display outputs, which is an interesting thought.)

BIOS Version 1001 2018/01/04 only shows for me when I select Windows 7 64-bit. Wondering if this is intended only for Win 7 64-bit users...
