is there anyone here who uses msi afterburner but the core voltage is locked? I have rx cards I adjusted the settings on msi afterburner to unlock the voltage but the problem is still there. I am using pcie as my main display also

Nah. I have 2 of these motherboards (3rd is on the way) and ive seen his symptoms.  He has a PSU overloaded.  The stereotypical sign is the fans herking and jerking, red on the PCIE status boot up screen for the slots affected .   6 of those 1070s AND the motherboard powered by just one 1000w PSU and you have an overloaded PSU.  He needs to split he 1070s up by powering 3 of them to each PSU.
Heres what I would do....
PSU 1
(3) 1070 @150w =450w
(2) 1060 @120w =240w
(2) 1050 @75w   =150w
Total 840w

PSU 2
(3) 1070 @150w =450w
(2) 1060 @120w =240w
Motherboard @200w
Total 890w

And of course after overclocking and undervolting (Reduced TDP for Nvidia cards) the total power draw will be even less.
I would use TDP of 65% and +150/+500 for the 1070&1060 cards and 75% TDP and +150/+500 for the 1050 TI cards. This will reduce power consumption substantially without slaughtering hash rates. These settings have worked well for me.  My rig#2 is all Nvidia cards (1080,1060,1050TI) and its stable as hell.

If he has another configuration it would be best to actually test that GTX 1060 and get confirmation that card is working normally outside this rig. That rig is little to big to make test on it before he can test all non working components outside of that combo.

Congratulations on the 19-GPU build. Can you give us a quick walkthrough of how you built it? Like did you just plug in all the GPUs at once or did you do it one-by-one?

With regards to overclockcing, what OS and mining software are you using?
From my experience overclock settings should stick even after you start runnning your miner.

Theres your tattletail right there.  You dont haven enough power available from your one 1000w to power all those cards, motherboard and hard drive.  The jerking motion of the fan is a symptom of not enough output of the PSU.  

Before overclock and undervolting

(6) 1070 @ 150w ea =900w
(2) 1050 @ 75w   ea =150w
(4) 1060 @120w  ea=480w
Total 1530w.

You are well over the 1000w rating of the PSU. In your post you mention that you got another 1000w PSU so if you are running 2 we need know what all you have connected to PSU#1 and #2.  Dont forget the motherboard, cpu/fan and hard drive all draw power too. Most use 200w for those combined as a value when figuring out a mining rig setup.

All of the cards were working before.

Previously, I had

EVGA 1070 ti x 2 cards
EVGA 1060 (6gb) x 4 cards
EVGA 1050 (4gb) x 2 cards

All of them worked under smOS without issue with one EVGA GQ 1000 Watt PSU.

Now, with the setup:

EVGA 1070 ti x 6 cards
EVGA 1050 (4GB) x 2 cards
EVGA 1060 (6GB) x 4 cards

The 1060's won't come up, and the B08, B09, B10, B11 slots appear to be red instead of green when I add more than 8 cards. I made sure to get a second 1000W PSU from EVGA (G2).

To summarize:

The mining card status during post shows the 9th card as having an error as the slot is red instead of green. I swapped the gpu/risers/usb cables/etc. with the other ones. It still shows a 9th card as having an error. I can't figure out if there's enough power going to the 1060 (all the 1060's fail to spin up or be recognized in the slots). The 1060's fan seems to want to spin up, but then doesn't and seems to have this constant fan jiggle/wiggle like it's trying to start up.

I have tried putting the gpu in sequential and non-sequential slots (i.e., skip slot B08 and try B09 or B10 for the 9th card), and it still isn't coming up.

My next attempt will be to leave the 1070 ti's and unplug the two 1050's (they require no pci-e cable connectors for the gpu, as they just power from the risers) and try adding a 1060 by itself.

Also, when you mention device manager, are you referring to Windows? I am using smOS

My rig #2 is running 13 nvidia gtx cards.  Did you install each card one at a time and reboot and wait for it to showup in device manager as operating properly BEFORE hooking another up to the motherboard?

I am hoping someone may be able to offer insight in to where I am going wrong.

Current setup:
 
- Asus B250 Mining (BIOS Version 1010 - 2018/04/12)
- 12 powered pci-e risers (all tested and all work)
- EVGA GQ 1000 PSU & EVGA G2 1000 PSU
- Intel i3-6100T (35W dual core CPU)
- 8 GB (4GB x 2) HyperX Kingston Technology FURY 2400MHz DDR4
- smOS running off of a USB thumb drive
- EVGA 1070 ti FTW2 x 3
- EVGA 1070 ti FTW x 2
- EVGA 1070 ti black x 1
- EVGA 1060 SC (6 GB version) x 2
- EVGA 1060 (6 GB version) x 2
- EVGA 1050 SSC (4GB version) x 1
- EVGA 1050 (4GB version) x 1


I currently have the EVGA 1000W GQ PSU powering the 24 pin connector for the A bank as well as the cpu. I have the the 8 GPU's starting in A bank and going to B bank. I also have the second PSU powering the 24 pin connector for the B bank.  

I have made sure that PSU A is powering the GPUs in the A banks, and that PSU B is powering the GPU's in B banks.

My issue involves getting more than 8 cards recognized. I currently have all of the 1070 ti's and 1050's running (8 cards in total). The issue is when I try to add the 1060's the pci-e slots that have the 1060's show that there is an error, and the cards fail to spin up. The 1060's are all good, as they were working before I added four of the 1070 ti's I now have.

Might someone be able to help with something that I am missing? I have seen people running the ASUS 250 with only Nvidia cards (up to 12) but my board doesn't want to allow me to run more than 8 nvidia cards

Yes.

go into the BIOS, go under menu "Boot", I had to enable "Launch CSM" and change to "UEFI and Legacy OPROM" so that the system could boot to my SSD, or USB.

So here's a little dumb question but i can't seem to figure it out...

I'm trying to run SMOS using usb stick but it won't even let me boot on it (goes straight to bios and say no bootable device found or something like that).

Do I need to change anything on bios?

P.S - I did follow SMOS instruction to flash my USB and it's 3.0 usb stick

Ok, i have successfully setup the 19GPU rig (8 P106-100 mining cards and 11 1060 6GB cards) using i3 7100 processor with 8GB of ram. Currently mining a miserly 410mhs (about 22mh/gpu) using ethminer.

I am now facing issues when i try to overclock this rig, the PCI bus id as per nvidia-smi and the PCI bus id as per lspci -v | grep -i vga is different. This causes issues when i try to start X due to which overclocking is lost to the world.

I tried using Hiveos & Ethos, both simply take their own sweet time booting and simply hang/crash at boot and hence the custom build.

Any help would be appreciated in solving this.

If i use RX570 instead of the 11 1060 6GB then i get a segmentation fault which seems like another massive dead end.

Built a new rig with this MB and my hashrate is down...

Dual mining ETH+XVG with Claymore 11.7

6GPU - All 30 Mh/s for ETH


New rig:
MB: Asus B250 Mining Expert
CPU: Intel Celeron G3930 (2,9Ghz)
RAM: 8GB - 2400MHz
updated Bios + Chipset to latest version
9GPU -------------3GPU at 30 Mh/s
         -------------1GPU at 29 Mh/s
         -------------5GPU at 28 Mh/s

Both times Radeon drivers 18.3.1, all compute.
4 of my cards that used to mine ETH at 30Mh/s and now do only 28,3 in my new rig... Those cards are on the same PSU I used in the old rig.

OC/UV used to be 1130 / 2035 / 890 / 890
Tried pushing them to 1130 / 2100 / 880 / 880, but I get minimal gain and seem to have touched the ceiling as I start getting invalid shares and have to get back to safer levels.

Anybody else witnessed lower has like this when switching to this board?"Any cure?

I think it's F2 or del key to get into bios.

Possible only if you have mining cards

no 19pcs GPU is possible.

In official manual it says "Hold down DEL key in the boot process to enter the BIOS"

the order doesn't matter. you can use any PCIe slots, even C13-C19 will work.
