Well, my religion is Christianity and there's no where in the bible that says gambling is a sin as long as it doesn't make you do abominable thing's. Most christians don't like the idea of gambling because of the dangers that it comes with, it can mess your physical and mental state, and this can affect your relationship with God. People are now coming to accept this lifestyle from their friends who are into it, religion has become a way people try to use to be judgemental to others. My religion isn't against it but it's against what comes with this addiction.
Nobody stops us from gambling, but just our beliefs. Unfortunately, we can see now how bold gambling is these days, and even kids know it already. That's how gambling has an influence on people right now, and even if we say that it is against our religion, we still see some gambling.

Some people say that gambling is bad and is a natural thing. I let them judge me on what they see. I was not afraid, as I was not guilty of doing illegal activities. I was gambling responsibly, which made me confident that whatever people were thinking was wrong.

In today's generation, I believe how they see on things is quite different already. We are more accepting per se as long as you are not harming anyone with what you are doing, then, you don't have nothing to worry about. Gambling itself won't pose a problem unless you become too focused on this activity, and spending more and more money into this. Or up until you encounter trouble owed to your gambling habit - whether financially or emotional distress. So it is your behavior that will really pose a problem and not the game itself.

Here in the Philippines, it's a crazy belief that you'd see in every neighborhood. If you'd see someone who gambles with our local games or even in their smartphones. You'd see many of them pray for luck and that's it. Many religions aren't praying for luck just to win some gambling games. So, that's an odd thing that many of our fellow country men does but it has become a natural thing in here. I even done that before and this is not to criticize my fellows but it has become a norm so, it's now part of culture and tradition here.

Once a man, twice a child!
4. Are there conditions under which this attitude can change?
Yes, I guess modernization and the internet are changing that narrative now and people don't see gambling as a big deal anymore.

I am sure that any religion will fundamentally reject gambling. If we talk about Christianity, it clearly says, "You can't serve both God and mammon," but since gambling embodies, foremost, the desire for profit, then the essence of the fact that religion does not approve of this is clear to everyone.
Even at the crucifixion of Jesus, the soldiers had to cast lots to decide who took his garments. It was gambling to own what everyone of them treasured. Some Christians still look at that event as something pointing them to the evil of gambling. In my view, I believe the reason Muslims and conservative Christians frown at gambling is the fact that it engages the mind into thinking that there's a shortcut to making wealth. Both religions frown at quick wealth.

Some people say that gambling is bad and is a natural thing. I let them judge me on what they see. I was not afraid, as I was not guilty of doing illegal activities. I was gambling responsibly, which made me confident that whatever people were thinking was wrong.

Not all of us have a thick skin like you do, though. In my country we are a majority of christians and Catholics, with some communities of Muslims, and even though gambling is not so frown upon here, there there is still a clear stigma against gambling, because of the consequences it could bring in the future to people who go down into the spiral of addiction and uncontrolled impulses in the pursue or money.
I have known people who do not do what they like because they are afraid of what others will think (I am also one of them) and because of the existence of some radical evangelists in this country, there could be (a few) families where getting caught being addicted to gambling could be translated into getting disowned by the rest of the household.

If you have your gambling under control, then kudos to you. Some of us rather not to gamble as much as we would, because the weight of stigma and prejudice.

In Christian or Catholic countries and places, you'd see and hear their sermons that are against gambling. But look at the believers, they don't mind gambling and they treat it just a casual activity that can be done by anybody.
I think one of the reasons why some regions don't encourage gambling is because of the negative side effect of gambling, it is not as if gambling is bad for people to consider as a game for fun, it is not encouraged by some of these religions because people abuse it by going to the extent which they won't be able to have a self control to a limit that is responsible. The attitude of some gamblers in gambling  which can lead to financial problems that is why some religions and cultur don't accept gambling.
That might be one of the reasons why there are many religions that don't allow it. Because of the impact that it can give to an emotional gambler, they just go out and become crazy.

It's hard to get out of that situation when they rely on it with their financial matters because all they think is to make money without any assurance that they will.

But look at those family of gamblers, they're making money together and they understand money and come and go with how it works with gambling or at least with those families that has an active gambler that makes some money.

I would not want to literally emphasize on a particular region but what I have experienced so far on various kind of religions over gambling is that... Non has ever endorsed it to say... Gambling is a practical and advisable activities on their religions, they have all been discriminating their fellow religion persons who gambles like gambling is an abomination to their religion.

So far... I have not seen a dedicated religious persons gambling and every dedicated religious practitioners has always have that insights that whoever that gambles does not have morales on their religions.

Generally I would say that from my own observations I think virtually all religions doesn't seem to be pretty much comfortable with gambling activities and however, one of the reasons why most people still indulge in it is that it is legalized within their nation but surely, while a dedicated religion practitioner may not gamble there are still those who may be indulging in it secretly not to be seen by any members of their religion since the religion is against it. In my locality gambling are seen a big offense to the most person and it is not to others, honestly there must a personal view of what gambling should mean to an individual and not seeking for any religion opinion.

However, the problem is that in most religions there must be certain people who ignore these rules. As I know, a Muslim gambler who always gambles but has high consistency does not harm others. This means that he never has a problem with his gambling activities and he considers it entertainment. And only God knows about sin.
There's nothing like that, Islam forbid gambling at all cost, there's no exception they're allowed to gamble as long as this or that. If a Muslim want to gamble, make sure they're being honest with that, they need to admit if they're a gambler if they get asked.

It's not about only Gods knows about the sin, but they're aware if gambling is always prohibited in their religion.

We have two kinds of culture in our country: conservative, which consists of religions and ethnic cultures, and progressive, which embraces changes and technology. The progressive culture accepts and promotes gambling, and our government is part of this.
Which is why gambling is very much legal in our country because they are the ones managing, and since they are the ones managing, they keep the taxes and profits, which sustain our economy. Both cultures are not in conflict, and they coexist.

This is now the trend even globally except on country with strong religion belief just like in middle east and Rome. People is now open minded about everything including gambling, gender equality, religion and many more aspect that was trivial to discuss before in previous generations.

I agree to this since even in my country there’s a lot of new casino owned by foreign companies that investing on construction of new casino after the pandemic.

Attitudes of different cultures and religions to gambling.
1. We have diverse and different views on gambling activities, of course we have many cultures and religions, views of course vary.
• all religions or confessions regarding gambling are haram, this statement is the commitment of all traditional and religious leaders, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Catholicism, gambling shows a negative impact, however all religious adherents are involved in gambling, without exception.
2. My view of gambling has a neutral attitude, I mean even though his view is negative there is no coercion if you want to gamble, the choice is in themselves, regardless of any religion.
3. It can be proven from migrants who want to do gambling activities, they are on their own will, the gambling does not force them to gamble.
4. Of course, except for those who are already addictive, for regular gamblers the situation can change.

The whole joke is that in our time, being religious has become a very trendy activity. However, only a few follow the canons of religion. All the other "believers" interpret religions at their discretion and always in their favor. They will easily accuse anyone of sin but will always present themselves as "saints."

Over the years,we've come across and witnessed several teachings that rejected and disdained gambling. But currently, all of this things don't matter anymore because people are beginning and already connected to it.So far so good, not all gamblers are very religious over this issue and it's still the same gamblers that are overly around and into religion practices and teachings. You wouldn't believe how this shit works and as for me I don't comsider gambling as a Single Sin.

Nothing lasts forever
I amd from India and people have been betting here since ages.
Although it's impact is still considered negative but people still prefer to gamble.
People here consider someone who is a gambling addict as a bad person and they call them "Juari".
What is the meaning of Juari in India? After I browsed online about it, I saw a 2 hours and 35 minutes movie and also somewhere that make me conclude that the meaning is gambler. People that gamble on gamble are called gamblers. I do not see anything offensive about it. But did you mean Juari as a word to refer to gamblers in India is seen there as offensive?

Yes, the meaning of Juari is gambler and yes it is considered offensive here in India because they see such people as addicted gamblers who always lose money.
These days people are still being a little lenient but until few years ago, no father will marry his daughter to a person who gambles (Juari).

In my country's culture, most people like to gamble, especially now that gambling is quite popular, even very popular, even though in my country, most gambling is prohibited because it is against religion, it's just that even so, with so many people now having their own gadgets, they must be familiar with social media because currently there are many gambling advertisements circulating, many are also interested in it and ignore the prohibitions based on the majority of religions in my country.

Currently, many of them do it online, and occasionally I see in crowded places such as carnivals or markets with games that require us to spend money to get a session to play the game with various prizes that can be obtained, even if you are lucky, with only a small capital you can get goods with high prices such as cellphones or electronic devices, I conclude that this is gambling but I don't know other people's views on this game.

In our culture, that is, Islam is forbidden and forbidden to gambling in religious culture. In Islam, it is considered economic immorality and harmful to society. Our Holy religion has been warned in strict language against gambling in Al Quran.
In our Islam religion, some people have also chosen gambling as their profession to make money easily. And many people have been dismissed by this gambling game. Gambling can sometimes benefit but most of the time it is to lose money. Most people cannot succeed in gambling, so they fail and take life to a risky place.
So gambling in Muslim society is considered porn and morally harmful habits.

In recent times, I don't think there is open condemnation of gambling as we have them many years ago.

From where I reside, the culture and religious bodies don't come out open to preach against gambling because their children and their brethren are found guilty of gambling. Preaching against gambling currently is like pouring water on a stone, which can be ascribed to wasting time.

People's mindsets are evolving into positive thinking, not negative thinking, that those who gamble wouldn't prosper but remain poor as some religion says. Those kinda beliefs don't coexist in people's minds again since a gambler can choose how to gamble with little money and still maintain it without thinking of being rich by gambling.

Everything about life shouldn't be placed on religion or cultural beliefs before you decide on doing them, because the law that was given by those religious or cultural bodies was all written by men who don't live in the present "digital world''

In my culture, gambling is an activity that is lovable by a lot of people, mostly men and just few women. Even during every year's August, there's this wrestling competition that is usually organized by elders of my village and the game is done in an old play ground where so many people (audience) will come to watch the game because it's usually a fun activity. During the wrestling process, the audience can bet on their favorite wrestler.

Although some older person and over religious people sees gambling as a bad and corrupt practices which they advice people against it.

In the country I live in there are various cultures and religions, each will have its own beliefs and of course it is very different so that when it comes to gambling there are those who consider it an unethical activity and as noble human being will consider it forbidden activity.
Apart from all this there will also be many people with certain cultures and religions who still consider gambling normal and reasonable activity to do, this will usually depend on the mindset of each individual.
Until whenever I sure it will remain like that and it is difficult to make changes.

My family doesn't appreciate gambling. The first time one of my aunties knew that I gambled she was very mad at me and wanted me to quit immediately. You have to keep your gambling life secret to avoid being tagged as the black sheep.
I noticed two Muslims on this forum that do not post on the gambling board at all. But also when mixers were banned, they had the opportunity to join gambling campaign but they did not join gambling campaigns. It even took one among both of them weeks without signature campaign.

I do not see gambling as a sin. I like how Christians do it. They do not see gambling as a sin but they preach against it to let people know the danger that is there.
