If you have applied fix 27 and are not getting graphs, it may be your miner_id setting.
Apparently there are rules for what munin will allow as a hostname.
We don't exactly know what they are, but this should help:

no caps, use only lowercase.
numbers and dashes,underscores seem ok.  other punctuation, including spaces maybe not.

set your miner_id to something that fits the above rules, restart mining, and the graphs will likely appear.

Glad to see BAMT revitalized Smiley
Question: does mgpumon "catch" the windows miners using cgminer?

No, but it would not be impossible to add something that would.

I'm also gonna start putting my bitcoins where my mouth is.
Would you do it for 10 BTC? Smiley

ah, what the hell...

fix 28 - cgsnoop

Adds cgsnoop, small utility to pull stats from any cgminer instance over the network and broadcast them as mgpumon status packets.

To enable, add do_cgsnoop: 1  to settings in bamt.conf, and edit /etc/bamt/cgsnoop.conf to taste.

PS - Sorting out the Windows Firewall is your own problem Smiley  I had to add a manual rule to allow tcp 4028, and then disable and enable on both public and private before it would let me through.  Also note that you must enable --api-network in cgminer, or it won't talk to anything but itself.

Any idea why cgminer would see GPU but gpumon won't?

Setting up my last rig (and it is always a pain in the arse because of this XFX Black Edition Huh).

gpumon shows

Code:

   Temp    Fan% (rpm)    Load  Rate     Accept/Invalid   Status

Total: 0 Mhash/s  0 accepted, 0 invalid

Time         Total
17:44:19      0.00
17:44:29      0.00
17:44:39      0.00
17:44:49      0.00
17:44:59      0.00
17:45:10      0.00
17:45:20      0.00
17:45:30      0.00
17:45:40      0.00
17:45:50      0.00

cgminer from command line shows:
Code:
root@myminer:/opt/miners/cgminer# ./cgminer -n
6 GPU devices detected

Running cgminer all GPU are detected and hashing BUT I have no ADL support (no temps, fan speed, no ability to change clocks, etc):

How does gpumon "see" GPUs?
Any commands to try?
Just weird that cgminer sees the GPU (although w/o ADL support) but gpumon sees nothing.

I thought this might be because I was using an image setup for another rig so I used the stock image on a new usb stick, booted, ran fixer installed all patches, rebooted and same results.

Fix 27 - End of the road?

This may be the last fix for bamt "classic" i.e. the 32bit, 0.4 version.

Updates the desktop to be like the new desktop in 0.5, brings bamt tools up
to date, fixes munin (finally) and installs new web ui.

This update changes a ton of stuff all at once, so cross yer fingers...
Don't deploy farmwide until you've verified its ok on a test box.

desktop gui might be weird until rebooted, but who uses the gui anyway.

So no more 32 bit support from now on ?

Moving to amd64 kernel ?

undecided, but leaning towards that.

I see wireless lan on your screens, it's for a specific one you installed on your rig, or do you support wireless lan now?

If you have the ability, especially if you're on a mostly-Windows network, I would suggest installing DD-WRT on an old (or cheap) wireless router and using it as a wireless bridge. At least for me, that tends to be much more stable, and it's easier than dealing with Linux wireless driver headaches and/or emulated drivers that don't always work very well. (*cough* ndiswrapper *cough*)

So..  who's going to be sad if we abandon 32 bit machines?
Who's going to be sad if we never support 8 gpus (i.e. go to 64bit)?

It's one or the other, as far as I am concerned.  No freakin way I am maintaining two builds.

Speak now, if you care.

1) Glad you aren't supporting crap chains.
2) I don't think there is much loss going to 64bit.  A $22 sempron is 64 bit capable.
3) Never knew of issues with >7 GPU.  I run 3x5970 = 6 GPU just fine but someday I might want to put the 8th GPU in.

I wouldn't consider it pressing but I would favor 8 GPU over legacy support.  I mean we got to cut the cord someday.  AMD first 64bit CPU was released in 2003.

+1

I would like to be able to run 4x5970 rigs. I am 64bit ready, willing and able.

I also would be happy to see 64bit, and 4x5970's rigs going... actually open up some room for me to add some other cards i got sitting around with no rig to add em into...lol

i think i make it 3 (64bit)vs 2 (32bit)

 Shocked

another thing i was thinking is, u dont need to completely toss out 32bit, but keep it around (atleast, where u left off...) so that 32bit users still have an option but no longer any development offered... just a thought tho... basically get it where you feel comfortable with leaving it as is... and move on to 64bit...

If you are willing to test a new BAMT image, send me a PM

I think it's ready to go, but since I don't have a big mining farm to test it on anymore I am reluctant to just release it yet.

About the USB boot bug of Gigabyte boards, are you going to implement any solutions in the next version of BAMT?

I found that the best way to go around this bug is to format a USB key with HP Format Tool and install an ISO using Unetbooting. Will it be possible to have an ISO version of BAMT to use with Unetbootin?

Thanks.

Some of the folks in the IRC channel have tested various way to support the broken motherboards.

Yes, it is possible to generate an ISO image.  However, this leaves you without the read/write partition which is essentially not usable for BAMT.  Experiments with unetbootin seem to show that it doesn't help.  Bootable without rw partition works, with it fails.  Another guy found a way to use Plop to boot BAMT, but it requires 2 usb keys, he couldn't find a way to do it with one.  I guess if you dont mind using 2 keys per board then there is the solution.

Since I do not have one of the buggy boards, I can't do any testing here.  If a solution for them is found, I will try to implement it in bamt, but so far there doesn't seem to be one.

Best to not purchase these boards.  If you have one, contact the manufacturer and demand they fix this bug.  It effects a wide range of things, not just BAMT..  google for their part #s and usb boot and you will see tons of people are frustrated with this.

depends on what you mean by "support".  they work fine, always have, but you must manually configure them using the standard linux wireless tools.

for the webgui inclined, here is what the fixed and improved node web interface looks like..

the munin stuff is all fixed up and a lot more reliable.  also auto adjusts to the # of gpus installed, dont have to mess with plugins by hand anymore.

Can we get this via /opt/bamt/fixer, or do we have to download a new release? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new to BAMT)

not sure yet.  normally i'd put it out via fixer but there are some pretty major changes that need to be done and it has been forever since a new image was made.  probably time to start a clean slate and do new image.
need to figure out the 32/64 thing for that though.

And, the desktop in new BAMT (i guess its "0.5"?)  is somewhat "live".. looks like this:

or, if a problem happens, like this:

makes it easy to see if something has gone wrong, if you connect a monitor.   not practical for big farms but good if you want to keep your eye on one rig maybe.

@lodcrappo

I am proposing a bounty of 10 BTC for some cosmetic mods with the web based mgpumon (http://myminer/mgpumon/) If this is not enough, let us know and maybe some others will want to pitch in for the cause, if they like my ideas. I am not knocking what you have done already, it's awesome and has revolutionized keeping tabs on my mining gear from one main "Farm Dashboard". Love it. I can hit it from my phone or tablet and know exactly what is going on.

Proposed changes or enhancements:

1. Format the display for 1024x768 so it looks good on a tablet (iOS/Android) or small sized web browser frame.
   ~ Currently on some displays you really have to scroll around or switch from portrait to landscape to try and see everything.

2. Reduce the font size a point size or two on the top title with the gradient. (This might help with item 1.)
   ~ Currently the Farm hashrate and Farm stats wraps on a small screen to the point where you can't read them.

3. All black background with white text, charcoal accents on tables and headings. Keep the gradient on the top title.

4. The option to click on the IP address of the Rig and have it go to the Munin graphs. (http://myminer/)
   ~ This would be a huge time saver to launch to your rig right from the main "Farm Dashboard".

I know these are my particular "wants", and other people may or may not like them. I'm just throwing it out there. I just have an affinity for "dark" UI interfaces. Maybe you can make a config file we could edit for our own color preferences if that is easier to do. If you don't want to change the colors, maybe you could still do items 1,2, and 4. Wink

Thank you for your time.

There is already a config file that lets you do all but one of these items:  mgpumon.css which is located at /var/www

The link to miner is already done and will be available in a future edition.

So.. basically this is already done.  You can send the 10 btc any time you'd like.

Bounty / Donation of 10.00110011 BTC is on it's way.

Could I trouble you to point me to the sections in mgpumon.css that would make the changes for item 2 and 3? Sorry I'm not a web dev guy and I did spend some time looking through the .css file. I'd make changes here and there and check the results, but could never get the fonts right, color or size. (hence the reason for the bounty, as I appreciate your time) Looking forward to item 4. Thanks again.

thanks! Smiley

First off I'd recommend copying mgpumon.css to another file, let's say bitminer.css.  this way your customization is never touched by updates.  So..

cp /var/www/mgpumon.css /var/www/bitminer.css

Now make mgpumon use your css instead of stock:

edit /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf, look for  "httpcss": "/bamt/mgpumon.css"  and change to "httpcss": "/bamt/bitminer.css"

note that you could have lots of themes this way, and switch between by changing the .conf, or even having several .confs and changing the one you pass to mgpumon command.  many possibilities.  If you make a nice theme send it to me and I'll include in a bamt fix.

so, now ready to make changes

item 2 is controlled by the section

#overview td
{
   padding-right: 30px;
   vertical-align: top;
   text-wrap: none;
   color: rgb(255,255,255);
}

in stock it just takes the body font/size.  but you can change this:

#overview td
{
   padding-right: 30px;
   vertical-align: top;
   text-wrap: none;
   color: rgb(255,255,255);

   font-size: 8px;
}

now you will see very small font.. adjust to your liking.

item 3 is a few things.. to change background look for all the

   background-color: rgb(255,255,255);

that is setting it to white.. change to

    background-color: #606060;

for a nice match to gradient, or

    background-color: #000000;

for true black.

for white text, put

   color: #FFFFFF;

in each section that needs white text, there are a few.
