BCN devs try all their might to make substantial changes in cryptocurrency.
They've already moves block chain out of RAM, which was really difficult tasks. This confirm that they understand CryptoNote Tech like no other of the developers of other coins.

Of cause they understand cryptonote better as they are the founders. Cryptonote devs told that bcn devs separated from main project to create currency. Thanks to these two teams we have true anonymous transactions and a currency, which has a great potential to become very popular altcoin as well as Litecoin

News section on CryptoNote.org
We are happy to announce a news section on the cryptonote.org. The new section is dedicated to new developments, ideas and news from the CryptoNote realm. About two years ago the CryptoNote technology had only been represented by Bytecoin (BCN) but since then things have changed dramatically. Not only the number of Bytecoins has soared, the other coins such as Quazarcoin, Fantomcoin and Monero are taking the cryptocurrency world by storm. The CryptoNote community becomes very diverse and geographically disseminated therefore we believe it is our duty to spread the word and bring everyone at one place.  Just by clicking on the news tab you’ll have the latest account on what’s been going on with CryptoNote-based currencies along with fresh updates from the devs at hand. The idea is to turn this website into a vibrant pool of information accessible to anybody who wants to keep one's finger on the pulse of CryptoNote technology. If you are a CryptoNote enthusiast and you have some ideas worth sharing, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

Thanks a lot for the announcement! We will surely inform you about latest BCN Community news.

The idea is great! Nice to see we have a place where all hot news about cryptonote-based coins will shown.

To be honest, that website 'upgrade' was like a needle in my eye... Seriously, first they arrive in an extremely secretive way, with 8bit music in the background and whatnot - which was totally ok since this is a very mysterious coin over all. To me it gave trust that some hardcore hackers were in charge, but that is now starting to vanish into to the usual marketing business.
A good technology sells itself, is all Im saying. The cost of fancy looking websites is the loss of usability.

I agree with you I liked the 8bit as well. But I do not belive that the technology sells itself ... see linux. If BCN wants grow up there is need to do some steps for spreading the coin to the mass. eg. there is a lot of posts in this thread with crying "no GUI wallet". I think even the technology was the best it would not be successful without serving all things on the plate to the mass of people who do not want to study something new or are too lazy or do not have time for it. ... and what I see BCN do not have strong marketing and PR. ... but I really like this coin with all around. I like the joke with the man on the main page.... it is like BCN shows back to all other coins ...or to us...?

You are right. The key to success is to be opened to the world and do not be afraid of changing the the look a lit bit to make it friendlier and as an additional indication that devs are ready to go forward. But changing the look has a dark side - when people get used to something they feel themselves much more confident, it's a strategy that such corporation as Apple and IBM use.

If this coin has been around for 2 years, why doesn't a single exchange have it?

This coin was already added to Poloniex and was going to be added to C-cex but cause of it's unique algorithm it's pretty difficult to add it to exchange. It's not a Bitcoin fork it's a cryptocurrency based on brand new technology .

I like the new design. The thing that stunned me is why those efforts are made when the site is not mobile friendly? Not using bootstrap will force you to recode it in near future.

I am a person who doesn't care about design but, TBH, I prefer old design and luckily they left the old design too

I like new design - something fresh. Pretty nice interface with good navigation. I also found previous two designs pretty nice but what I didn't like in first design that I needed to turn music off every time I visited their web. At first I liked that music but some times later it began to irritate me.

It's really great to see so much attention from CryptoNote towards BCN and other CN-based currencies.

I think it's good that CN forks are popping up like mushrooms on rainy day but BCN was first and it should get biggest places in the newsletter. Smiley

Indeed. BCN should become Bitcoin of CryptoNote world. Glad to see they are making steps in this direction.

Bytecoin with its 85% premine aint going anywhere..

Well, I think the new website is pretty cool.
When BCN goes mainstream you don't want an obscure or 'cracker' type website encouraging the outside media types to trash the coin.
Like the previous poster said, the tech speaks for itself. BCN is the first and it's two years old. That's older than 99.9% of all the other cryptos out there.  Smiley
Obscure to me is better than a dishonest representation of the coin, which is exactly what all the fancy is all about. Why not keep a simple non-obscure design, and still present the whole picture to the users. There ought to be some sort of history summary, so that new people can get an honest overview of the coin. Investing in this coin is to have trust in the developers and stake holders.

The front page should consist of community news, not a gigantic picture.

BTW does the webdesigners have zero imagination? They all look the same.

https://vertcoin.org/

History summary is available here: http://bytecoiner.org/about.php and community news for you: http://bytecoiner.org/
So bytecoiner.org is the information website, and bytecoin.org is more of an introduction? Why not keep the information on bytecoin.org and a forum on bytecoiner.org?
