I don't know how the Telegram wallet works and i don't care to know because it is not an option for me to store any coins. Telegram is one platform with so much cases of scam and fraud, and that alone is enough reason not to use it to keep any of your money. Even if you want to store shitcoins, there are better wallets to use, wallets that are non-custodial and open source like Unstoppable wallet, then there are others like trust wallet that are not open source, but a better option for shitcoins than telegram wallet.
Telegram! this name itself to me anytime I hear it, I don't get rest of mind because of a lot of shits that i have undergone. Telegram itself is full of scammers, i am a victim. Although, I don't have much knowledge about it but the little transaction i did with them, some of these transactions, i fell into the hands of scammers. since then, anything that would let me associate with them especially their wallets, I have to think and rethink again and again Up to hundred times. for me to be sure if it is guaranteed.

That sucks, I know that Telegram is trying to innovate and having some wallets on it is part of their plan. But knowing that they've been swarmed by scammers, and the customer service that they have is quite hard to reach. It's best to just use them as is being a messaging app. We've seen casinos building their platform on its own platform and it's not really appealling at all. Now, with vast projects that have been using them as a medium of communication to their users, I think this is the first time that I've seen someone who used them as a wallet and then the user's number got blocked by itself. Keep on appealling and contacting Telegram because if they're the one who blocked him, they are the only one who can unblock him as well.
I think the best way to use it is just for communication and passing of messages and information. but anything related to savings of coins, I am not there. It has happened to me before and will not be making sense if it should repeat itself again. Especially when you said that their customer care service provider is very difficult to reach. If God forbid one fall victim of any duping related issue, and urgently in need of their customer service assistance, what would you do? When already they are known to be so difficult to reach? You see! that's a very big problem. So I think the very way to operate with them is just to communicate and passing information. And even if you must do transaction, you have to be extra -extra careful.

You got that right man, I think telegram is not a place to save your assets rather is a place where you interact with different people just like social media. However creating of wallet in telegram is a very big risk, I think someone who is with his right senses will never think of storing his assets in a telegram wallet. we have a lot of trusted and reliable wallet to store our coin, I'm pretty sure that nothing happens to those wallet, I think is only someone who does not know what he's doing that will choose telegram wallet over all this trusted and reliable wallet's either.

Another charge to experience mistake, sorry for the loss, it's my first time seeing the use of the telegram for having a wallet, this platform is use most likely for socials, and can be used as a tool for storing too an image or other information if you don't have another choice, but storing of an asset with the use of the telegram I guess its a big no, this is not meant for. We know how the information is scattered on the internet, and most of the users binned their active numbers in their socials so possible a direct attack. That's another enlightenment to invest in a good security and wallet.

The old battle was with sim swapping, to gain access to peoples assets, and now that a good blockchain called Ton is using telegram as their main based wallet, they are giving more power to scammers to start going after people through their sims, I will never get into Ton unless they made their wallet available else where.

Or maybe if telegram start allowing users to registered a telegram account using email account and not sim cards, this is the most stupid thing to do.

Possible bad events

1. You wake up one day and your sim card is no more working.

2. You somehow lost your phone.

3.  Thieves working in network provider centers knowing about sim link with telegram accounts and the existence of TON network, a good way to hit the jackpot for them.

A real decentralized crypto project supposed to give users their revoveery seed without it having any relationship with users sim card, but since its running on telegram its a big turn off for me.

We need to be very careful about the telegram Wallet and I don't think I could ever put my money there since anything could happen.
Telegram wallet is not the best for me and I don't use them because it does not have any privacy. Anything could happen and your account could get ban without even knowing what could be the problem.
We need to be wise and always put our funds in a wallet than using to use social media to store it.

We should learn to use open source noncustodial wallets to store our funds of which telegram isn't. These wallets aren't paid for , they are free and well secured so why stress over wallets that aren't safe for your funds. As for your friend @ knowngunman, I really don't think he can recover his funds as I haven't seen anyone appealed before on telegram as was unbanned. Except his ban had a time duration.

I haven't bothered checking it out until after I made this post. I think it's accessible for every telegram users and not for only premium users. The interface wasn't bad and there is P2P service too though you need to verify your identity before taking part in it. However, there is a pop up display for the first time clicking the wallet icon where Telegram disclaim that the wallet is operated by independent party not affiliated with telegram. More reason for one to distant themselves from using such wallet.

I think this pop up message is alarming enough to make one stay away!

Well for starters, telegram is definitely not a place that anyone would even think of doing anything aside from its communication purpose because the app has given himself a reputation that befits the abuse of it. Telegram is currently a ground hole for scammers and alot of them are very active finding and coursing for their next naive victim. If I had been the one seeing this then I would probably first have a wrong view about and probably even abandoned it as well.
For starters, they have to learn to customize their Telegram account settings, and prevent scammers to reach in communication and avoid automatic downloads files, videos.

Anytime I see any company meant to something else that starts adding wallet as a new feature, I just ignore it because I know it would not be a reliable source for wallets and the safe keeping of my assets. When I saw the new wallet feature telegram did, it just occurred to me that this is another legal way to loss your asset if anything happens to your account or telegram network. Just like the way, keeping your asset in an exchange is dangerous, storing them on telegram wallet is even more dangerous. This is the second time I've come across app that start offering the service of wallet.

I never believed that people can be so careless to use give their money to a social media platform like Telegram. I have to use this strong language because I feel bad at how people follow trends ignoring all safety measures. I knew when the Telegram Premium came on board with many features including this wallet. But I was never moved by the wallet aspect because I have always had in mind that "not your keys, not your coins". Anything that does not give me control over my coins is definitely a no no for me.

I have a question here please...., Can ones telegram premium account be bann? Most people made this mistake out of ignorance. It's another lesson for us just not to be so careless with our fund.

I think we should wait a little for these types of apps especially when they launch these types of high sensitivity platforms on their apps. Seeing this from telegram is hard to believe but as you're saying that it had happened so it's alarming.

Actually we can't doubt telegram's intentions here as it's one of the high traffic messaging platforms but rather it could be a technical fault. As they have launched a new feature so the bugs will come around for sure and with time they'll be tackled and solved. There should be an option to apply for the case of your colleague. Go ahead and apply for it and I hope for a positive response from telegram.

of all the wallets, why do so many people choose telegram as a place to store their crypto, don't they think that at any time their telegram account could be banned or restricted by telegram? it's very funny to see how people innocently save and transact with ton on their telegram without knowing the fact that sooner or later it will be restricted by their government. no need to risk your money to buy ton and save it in your telegram account. just buy bitcoin and store it in your wallet, it is much more secure and trustworthy to own bitcoin compared to obscure tokens like that.

I don't consider any points when it comes to using telegram. Telegram have taught me lesson in the market, I'm never working towards crypto news with telegram account except for communities which is very solid and strong. Who's beckoning on telegram this present day? Telegram have become one of the app that's been accessible by scammers and they utilized their scamming activities basically. They know the knots and ties of the space, they have everything to lure investors and traders to trade which is out of the picture for most of us.
That's because when registering for a Telegram account we can use virtual numbers that we can get for free from various countries. it's the same as other applications like WhatsApp.
but using a wallet from Telegram without security in your Telegram account would be very stupid. You can set a lock for your Telegram account. So people who want to take over your Telegram account won't have it easy if they don't have your account password key.

You have had this experience, hopefully, you realize your mistakes and don't repeat them in the future. There are more suggestions for using a better wallet, hopefully, you find the best one for you.

A fake telegram apps can easily recognize Blockchain address from mere chats and then replace the users address with that of the scammers.
Generally, telegram is a social media platform that scammers love so much because how good they are there when it comes to scams and fraudulent activities. Everyone in this forum will always advise newbies against telegram because they can easily get scammed.
Not just a fake telegram app, even the original one is not safe with any of your asset not just crypto assets because telegram cannot be trusted.

Talking about telegram generated wallets, I think it is a bot wallets that helps users to buy coin easily to avoid network congestion, but most times, it is temporary wallet address that can get hacked anytime that is why only people with large community that can manipulate market or scam people with a particular coin do use it and withdraw their money immediately after gaining their profit.

Telegram group of investments that promise 10 times of interest are not true but scams.
Telegram is not a safe platform for keeping Bitcoin ,if your Bitcoin is being stored on telegram wallet it is risky because it can be stolen and hacked easily by hackers since telegram is being used for illegal activities which also include drug trafficking and money laundering .

Telegram draws unwanted attention from scammers since they always want to take advantage of members , scammers poses a very big problem in the crypto community   these days, in other for you to avoid them, you need to avoid unknown files and links whenever you get them and don't click on them without carefully checking on them ,also check wallet address before sending .

A fake telegram apps can easily recognize Blockchain address from mere chats and then replace the users address with that of the scammers.

It's a sad story...I don't know how it is now, but before telegram gave you the opportunity to attach mail to your account. Is there perhaps a way to restore access via email?
The email they allow you to attach to your Telegram account is not a means to recover the account from ban, but it's an easy means to recover the account if it's been hacked by someone else. Let's say someone gained access to your telegram without your knowledge, or you set a password on your telegram and forgot the security password.

You can use the email to request recovery of the account and password resetting. It's just for security measures from outside intruders and not from Telegram itself, and the email they use in replying with such a request is the email that doesn't accept replies from senders.

In my opinion, you need to use the software for its intended purpose without cluttering it with unnecessary functions. I mean that the Telegram program itself is intended for communication; initially, it was the most common communication between people. After groups appeared, now it is possible to add wallets. Telegram looks like a New Year tree, which is hung with different buns. At the same time, we regularly see various scams from Telegram groups and, of course, sudden blocking for actions that are incomprehensible to the owners themselves. By the way, Telegram can be hacked very easily; if you follow the links sent to you, one day you can become a victim of hacking, which once again proves that storing money separately is very smart and safe. There is no need to mix everything. Multifunctionality is only useful in the kitchen.
This is exactly the case, that the best program is a highly specialized program (performing one single function). If you want a good crypto wallet, use something like electrum, not a telegram wallet. I don't like it when apps are turned into multi-tools that can't properly perform the original function. As can be seen from OP’s story, the convenience provided by combines, like telegram, is fraught with unpleasant consequences. I would generally avoid these types of (custodial and centralized) wallets.

There is one more point. The more services are tied to one program, the more painful the failure of this app is (for example, loss of access to a telegram account). It is necessary to follow diversification (by purpose): instant messengers for communication, and separate wallets for storing and using cryptocurrencies (2 different purposes).

That option is only possible if he already registered an e-mail, but it's unclear if they can recover that if the phone number is banned. I find no explanation on their support page and the chance is likely slim[1]. CMIIW. At the end of the day, shouldn't have used a wallet like this to store money regardless of how popular the app is. Hopefully, OP's friend will learn the lesson and use better wallets for the future.

Telegram accounts can get banned for violating the app’s terms of service, including spamming, sharing illegal content, or engaging in malicious activities.
I believe it's more than that, if you pay someone who can create bunch telegram accounts and ask him to create mass reports to that account, I won't be surprised your friends account might got banned even though your friends did nothing. This is normal to someone who're popular or have something, other people are jealous with their achievements.

Well, if this is the case then Telegram has no standard of operation. Why would they ban a user just because multiple people reported the account without doing their own investigations? They ban my account for policy violations which I don't remember engaging that account with malicious activities. Perhaps, this is the reason for my ban.

Good reminder, @knowngunman

After seeing how leniently Telegram handles Spam and Scam on their platform, I would stay away from entrusting them any amount of coins (even shitcoins  Cheesy).
Maybe you can still enlarge your picture, it's very small currently.

And hopefully funds can be recovered. Telegram should be able to access it.
Any way, it's really a big warning to avoid storing coins on Telegram-

People derived happiness from experimenting what will eventually harm them. Users feedback about Telegram is enough reason to stay away from them. Even mere engagement is not considered secure talk more of storing your assets with them but yeah we are human, unless we fall victim before we learn. I have already told him to move on while he continues making efforts to recover the funds thou I doubt the possibility.

Noted, I will edit again to fit in. Thank you.

Have you tried to contact telegram to get the coins back and I am sure that they can access it. Anyway, did you ask your friend if there is a backup of the wallet?. I am sure your friend did see something after creating the wallet that says backup wallet by email and manually. If he did either of it then I think your friend can access the coins. I would say that other forum said that your friend did not backup his wallet after creating it even though he sees the warning about creating a wallet.

He has no back up for the wallet. I don't know how there back up system works but I try it yesterday after this post to see how the wallet looks like but I did not see anything like back up after creating the wallet. Perhaps, they have back up but manually export type. People might be easily carried away without a reminder to keep their back up safe.
It seems we may have to really start settling to reading and scrutinizing the terms and agreement conditions of many of these online apps pretending to upgrade and innovate, without proper customer care representatives or contact that is responsive.

I thought it was a bad idea when I started seeing most browser apps and social media apps include crypto wallets in their upgrades.
I never want to store my funds in any  app that isn't related to the Blockchain technology activities or perform full exchange wallet functions, mostly when they have no secure key phrases to retrieve the wallet and I would till tomorrow advice against it.
