We should learn to use open source noncustodial wallets to store our funds of which telegram isn't. These wallets aren't paid for , they are free and well secured so why stress over wallets that aren't safe for your funds. As for your friend @ knowngunman, I really don't think he can recover his funds as I haven't seen anyone appealed before on telegram as was unbanned. Except his ban had a time duration.
I haven't bothered checking it out until after I made this post. I think it's accessible for every telegram users and not for only premium users. The interface wasn't bad and there is P2P service too though you need to verify your identity before taking part in it. However, there is a pop up display for the first time clicking the wallet icon where Telegram disclaim that the wallet is operated by independent party not affiliated with telegram. More reason for one to distant themselves from using such wallet.
I have taken several measures for my number to be unban too but to no avail. Their bot even warned that deleting your account and creating a new one with same number won't change anything and that might even lead to blacklist since you're attempting to bypass the ban.

Thank you, edited appropriately.
But hey it wouldn't surprise me that Nigeria of all places has their phone numbers banned, because of their government's hostility towards cryptocurrency in general.
It is possible but I don't think that's the case here. Perhaps, some activities they considered against their policies is the reason for things like this in most cases.
