Is ban on Telegram with a phone number common?

Why do Telegram Accounts Get Banned?
Telegram accounts can get banned for violating the app’s terms of service, including spamming, sharing illegal content, or engaging in malicious activities.
I believe it's more than that, if you pay someone who can create bunch telegram accounts and ask him to create mass reports to that account, I won't be surprised your friends account might got banned even though your friends did nothing. This is normal to someone who're popular or have something, other people are jealous with their achievements.

My question to you is why being a member of this forum you would still believe that Telegram is good and it will not harm you. Every chat application like Telegram are a den for those who are known as scammers. Do a Google search and you will find so many scams happening on the two most popular chat applications. Whatsapp and Telegram and if you want to avoid scammers then avoid these two applications.

This very morning, a colleague in one of our platform brought a telegram related issue to platform seeking for help. He created a wallet on the app and store some funds there but unfortunately Telegram banned his number from accessing their services and that means automatic lose of funds. I don't know if there's a faster way to appeal for unban but I also have the same issue for over a year now and effort to unban the number prove abortive.

Telegram does not have an official app whereas TON has an app and a DEX. Do check before creating an app that does not represent Telegram's own wallet. Do not mix scammers with the TON ecosystem.

In Spain, a court has recently banned Telegram groups, and the wallets are also questioned. The court's sentence has been provisionally suspended because it can violate fundamental rights, but I wouldn't rely on the mentioned services either, just in case: Spain has been the first case in the world, but who knows how can it could end in other places too.

Anytime I see any company meant to something else that starts adding wallet as a new feature, I just ignore it because I know it would not be a reliable source for wallets and the safe keeping of my assets. When I saw the new wallet feature telegram did, it just occurred to me that this is another legal way to loss your asset if anything happens to your account or telegram network. Just like the way, keeping your asset in an exchange is dangerous, storing them on telegram wallet is even more dangerous. This is the second time I've come across app that start offering the service of wallet.

Even the service provider you are using telegram, I still remember the wallet usually created by their official project is always have option to export the wallet or at least a backup for the wallet they're using.

All contains your wallet address, none of backup are crazy mate.

I can't make use of a telegram wallet neither will I adhere to the use of any mobile browser app wallet as well, if a wallet is a custodial wallet, then it's not completely safe for our usage, because we have no access to it's private keys, same as well we shouldn't consider perfect safety in using a close source non custodial wallet, also, we have to be careful on the kind of 2allet we use, such must be an open source non custodial wallet

I am sorry about your colleague's experience with the Telegram wallet. We have a human, moral, and ethical obligation to tell our friends with common interests about crypto scams, telegram wallet scams which we discover before them so that they do not fall victim. Not blaming you though but imagine if your friend had heard about this telegram wallet issue earlier from you.

I do not believe that telegram wallet is a custodial wallet. It worse than that. With telegram wallet aside them not having a support you can contact, they will scam you straight up without the need for any of their user facilitating it. For those who may not know it yet, if you still use telegram for chats, just know that they are not encrypted by default.

I don't know that people can create a non custodial wallet with Telegram or it is all custodial. This article shows Telegram Wallet Bot is custodial.

How to use Telegram wallet.

There are other wallets, not Telegram Wallet Bot, and give non custodial controls. Your friend made bad decision to choose Telegram Wallet Bot.

We should learn to use open source noncustodial wallets to store our funds of which telegram isn't. These wallets aren't paid for , they are free and well secured so why stress over wallets that aren't safe for your funds. As for your friend @ knowngunman, I really don't think he can recover his funds as I haven't seen anyone appealed before on telegram as was unbanned. Except his ban had a time duration.

I haven't bothered checking it out until after I made this post. I think it's accessible for every telegram users and not for only premium users. The interface wasn't bad and there is P2P service too though you need to verify your identity before taking part in it. However, there is a pop up display for the first time clicking the wallet icon where Telegram disclaim that the wallet is operated by independent party not affiliated with telegram. More reason for one to distant themselves from using such wallet.

I have taken several measures for my number to be unban too but to no avail. Their bot even warned that deleting your account and creating a new one with same number won't change anything and that might even lead to blacklist since you're attempting to bypass the ban.

Thank you, edited appropriately.

But hey it wouldn't surprise me that Nigeria of all places has their phone numbers banned, because of their government's hostility towards cryptocurrency in general.

It is possible but I don't think that's the case here. Perhaps, some activities they considered against their policies is the reason for things like this in most cases.

Why will the guy even save funds on a wallet? You know that your number is the only access you have to the telegram, and when this wallet is created, there is nothing like a given phrase that you can use to gain access to the wallet outside the telegram, so at least even if your number is banned, you can still gain access to it. Even if it's not open source, at least it gives you a little opportunity to recover whatever's lost in that wallet.

He can keep on trying to recover the banned number, but he should not put all his hope in the idea that it's ever going to get unbanned. One thing about getting an account that has funds banned is that it's very hard for it to get unbanned because the company has more to gain than lose at this point in time.

I believe that TONcoin is only available in the Telegram wallet and that there are no other exchanges that provide functionality for trading this particular coin.

In my opinion, you need to use the software for its intended purpose without cluttering it with unnecessary functions. I mean that the Telegram program itself is intended for communication; initially, it was the most common communication between people. After groups appeared, now it is possible to add wallets. Telegram looks like a New Year tree, which is hung with different buns. At the same time, we regularly see various scams from Telegram groups and, of course, sudden blocking for actions that are incomprehensible to the owners themselves. By the way, Telegram can be hacked very easily; if you follow the links sent to you, one day you can become a victim of hacking, which once again proves that storing money separately is very smart and safe. There is no need to mix everything. Multifunctionality is only useful in the kitchen.

Though this is the first case I've seen about the telegram wallet, I think it should serve more as a warning for some lazy investors who prefer testing new projects than using the already made available secured opened source wallets to store their funds. For some reason I don't know why people don't think before making decisions. When this telegram wallet came about, I saw it on my telegram app though the interface looked good but still, you should remember that these are owned by centralized bodies and might not even be official making it unsafe for storing funds. A lot of time, telegram would white ban a mobile number for reasons that are not disclosed so what more will storing funds in there. Though I've never tried to ask for an appeal for my mobile no which had been banned for no reason.

We should learn to use open source noncustodial wallets to store our funds of which telegram isn't. For several times, it has been discussed here that we should avoid storing assets in custodial wallet in order to avoid lose of funds. Telegram as one of the controversial social media platform has enabled wallet feature on their app for premium users. I read a thread here sometimes back asking how secure and reliable it is to use telegram wallet and many users here kicked against it (I can't find the thread as reference).

This very morning, a colleague in one of our platform brought a telegram related issue to platform seeking for help. He created a wallet on the app and store some funds there but unfortunately Telegram banned his number from accessing their services and that means automatic lose of funds. Creating a secure non custodial wallet won't take up to ten minutes or even less. I don't know the level of conveniences these unsecured wallets offer that people tend to be making such mistakes of using them for their asset storage. Not your keys, not your coins has been an anthem for as old as crypto exits but we turn deaf ears until things get worse before we learn. This is not only applicable to Telegram wallet but to all wallets which you have no control over the phrases. It is as good as if you have no asset because the custodian can deny you access at any time.
