Dark Gravity Wave will fix an issue that has been affecting the Belacoin blockchain where blocks won't be found for an extended period of time.

The Problem: Occasionally, there will be extended periods of time where no block is found on the Belacoin Blockchain.
What are the consequences of this? Transactions are not processed until a block is found. Your coins are 100% safe, but it can be frustrating to have to wait a long time to receive your coins.
Why does this happen? There are mining pools out there that search for the most profitable coin to mine and switch to it for as long as it is the #1 most profitable coin. A lot of the time, that coin is Belacoin. When these mining pools switch to Belacoin, the current difficulty regulator (Kimoto Gravity Well) spikes the difficulty to keep the 2 minute block times consistent. Then, the mining pools drop off because Belacoin is no longer the most profitable coin to mine, but the difficulty remains very high. Now, it can take several hours for the next block to be found. Once the next block is found, the difficulty readjusts back to normal and everything continues smoothly again.

The Solution: Dark Gravity Wave Mining Difficulty Regulator
Why is is a solution? Dark Gravity Wave (DGW) was created to solve this very problem. It takes more of a moving average so the difficulty does not spike so hard when a new mining pool hops on. It's more dynamic and flexible than Kimoto Gravity Well and will help reduce those long periods of time where no block is found.

Again, thanks for the updates.

The thread seems to have been focused lately on belacam
and its easy to forget or overlook the other tasks pertaining Belacoin itself.

I like the sound of this "Dark Gravity Wave difficulty regulator"
this is a mining tool from the Dash technology.
What benefits will it have for Belacoin?

Yes, the new notification system looks and works much better. It's now only a dropdown menu, similar to Facebook's, where you see the profile picture of the person who liked/commented/followed you, and you can click to go to their profile.

Belacam has about 2,100 users. We have been spending the past 3 weeks working on fixing bugs rather than retaining these users, so tracking the active users at this point is not indicative of much. After the launch of Beta 2.0 with the design overhaul, we will begin to focus on marketing to bring in more users and retaining our current users, so the Daily Active Users (DAU) / Weekly Active Users (WAU) / Monthly Active Users (MAU) will be pretty relevant then. The beta 2.0 launch is slated for either late May or early June. At that point, we hope that almost all bugs are stamped out, and we will begin working on things that maximize user retention. This is where we start A/B testing things as simple as the color of a button to see if it can incentivize people to post / like / comment more.

There is no public roadmap, although I will see if we can have someone make one. We follow an internal roadmap through Asana, but it's not in a publicly presentable form.

A simple roadmap could go like this:

  • Beta 2.0 with site redesign
  • Integrating Ads (so we can finally make some money)
  • Integrating Video
  • Integrating Chat
  • Mobile Apps

Keep in mind that we're also balancing this with our work with Belacoin. On the Belacoin side, we're working on preparing to adopt the Dark Gravity Wave difficulty regulator, getting Belacoin listed on another exchange, and getting Belacoin listed on the Coinomi web wallet (in the integration process now on their end).

Hey Ambia Fund. Question regarding BELACAM:

How many active users do you currently have? How are you looking to increase this number... and in what time frame? Is there any roadmap availible?

Thanks!

Excellent thanks for posting the changes here
and I think they are going to be very beneficial.

I love these:

3) User Profile
-Each profile will show lifetime money earned
-Cover Photo
-See users' followers and who the user is following

Is there plans also to include information or a link to
the profile of those who like my images?

I think I posted something of this on the slack channel  Huh

After about 3 weeks of beta testing, we have enough info and analytics to start making some big changes to the site. Most of these changes will be made on our own testnet site for Belacam and will be pushed with the launch of Belacam Beta 2.0, set for late May or early June.

Here are some of the changes that will be made:

1) Signup Page
-Removing the fields 'Country', 'Birth Year', 'Gender'
-Only entering the password once
-We will check if the username is taken right after it's been typed, not once the form is submitted

2) Feed/Discover Page
-Combined into one page, similar to scrolling through the homepage of Reddit
-Smarter algorithm for showing posts (currently, we show posts on the discover page in the order they were posted. The new algorithm will take into account the amount of likes the post has, whether you're following the user or not, and the time the photo was posted)

3) User Profile
-Each profile will show lifetime money earned
-Cover Photo
-See users' followers and who the user is following

4) General
-Comments will be likable
-Sending a weekly email to people who have earned money (like "You got paid $3.68 this week on Belacam.com) to keep users engaged and coming back
-Removing "upload page" and integrating the upload form as part of the main feed page
-Showing 24 hour Trending hashtags
-Showing Suggested Users to Follow

With that, the whole site is getting a design makeover. The new site looks much better, and it's the site that will likely carry us through the next few hundred thousand users before we really need to make any more significant design changes.

As stated before, we are working on a fix for that. Please keep in mind that what other developers do or don't do has no effect on what we do. Just because other developers didn't fix an issue that was affecting their coin, it does not mean that we can also neglect to address this issue.

this orphan thing happend before with yocoin, i remember.. first start the mysterous orphan blocks, the devs say "everything its ok", "we will fix it", but never do..

It seems that the orphaned blocks you saw were just a string of bad blocks. The pool you cited, Suprnova, had 5 orphaned blocks in a row at https://bella.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks, but the blockchain is continuing without issue elsewhere: https://prohashing.com/explorer/Bellacoin/

Why that coin still exist on polo? Because all what have Bela is chess game.. which have problem to withdraw coins.. And the problem still no solved

Please check out Belacam.com, the social media site that runs on Belacoin with over 2,000 users and is actively being developed and improved. Community members are building projects on the Belacoin blockchain like a community-managed mining pool and Beladice, a virtual dice game that runs only on Belacoin. Beyond that, we have one of the largest altcoin Slack communities with almost 1,500 members in the Belacoin slack at http://Belacoin.herokuapp.com.

And yes, there is also a chess app/web wallet on the Android app store that runs on Belacoin with 1,000 - 5,000 installs and a 4.2 star rating out of 67 reviews: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vasilkoff.wallet_bela&hl=en

You don't see a pic from hash-to-coins what I posteded ? there is 15 orphans because as I said, someone is attacking the network with 550 GH/s in that moment, I will next time make a screenshot to you with hashrate, and Prohashing in that time didn't found blocks, Prohashing in last 24h as you can see found just 19 blocks, otherwords, Prohashing and Suprnova with just 12 blocks in last 24h, they didn't mining this coin, we are talking about 30 blocks on 2 pool all day, you can not even compare that and figure what exactlly happened. I was found 38 blocks on H2C, in period of 40 min when diff was lower, witch after 50 confs became Orphans, 25 of them !!
And trust me when I say, the same thing happened to Tips !! As soon as you get that sooner you will stop this attacks !!
As I can see we are mining when this coin is out of profit and then when diff finally goes down, that attacker get all the blocks, so what is the point to invest in mining this coin then if we can not participate in all blocks normaly ?
Stop attacks !
Read the network, follow what happened in particular time and you will get that something is fishy, somethings is wrong, some Anon is doing Selfish Mining...you can read on google a lot about that...so exactly that happened on your network wen diff is going down.
Topic of Fedora coin/Tips coin about Selfish mining:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15254849

Confirmed, my last 12 blocks were orphaned. Will stay away from mining BELA until this has been dealt with.

There are a lot of exciting things right around the corner. Here are some things planned for the next few weeks:

1) Belacam.com Beta 2.0 (Design Overhaul)
2) Adopt Dark Gravity Wave difficulty regulator (used by Dash)
3) Coinomi Listing
4) Listing on one more altcoin exchange
5) 2nd Belacam Promotional Video

After this, we'll be working to bring some big updates to Belacam. Things like videos, ads (so we can start earning some revenue), chat, and the mobile apps are on our planner for this summer. We're also expanding both The Ambia Fund and the Belacam teams by hiring new people.

It's official, Belacoin is coming to the Coinomi web wallet, likely within the next 2-4 weeks. They'll be spending the next few days getting it integrated, and then it should be listed with the next update, whenever that is.

This is great news and nice to see the project moving along
after also being listed on Bittylicious.

Thank you for that. As we said before, we are aware and are working to fix it.

Is there a roadmap/feature timeline for Belacam anywhere?

Also, wondering if there's goals for developing/moving to the mobile sphere?

I understand getting the fundamentals down with a web based project is important, and you want to start small, but it seems obvious that this kind of project will live in the mobile sphere much better than the desktop these days.

Just curious.

We don't have an official public roadmap, but our team does follow an internal one. If you join our slack at Belacoin.herokuapp.com, you'll hear all about our plans for the next month and beyond. These include changing the mining difficulty regulator from KGW to DGW, listing Belacoin on Coinomi, listing Belacoin on another exchange, and going into Belacam Beta 2.0 with a design overhaul. We will be working on the Belacam mobile app once we have the website all worked out and running 100% smoothly. As you can tell, there are a lot of exciting things on our plate coming in the next few weeks. However, we still can only do one thing at a time.

I can imagine there are a lot of jobs to be completed with this project and
going forward the mobile app will be a massive addition as it means users
can really work the Belacam motto, SNAP, POST, PAID !
[just like Instagram etc. without the ... PAID]

What happened to Belacoin in Polo the value is kept on reducing. Is there any chance that the price of Belacoin will increase.
Really there is a big drop in the price, this is because of hard fork they mentioned.
I think one of the last news is good chance for rise price Bela coin:
@everyone It's official: Belacoin is coming to the Coinomi.com web wallet!

"The integration takes 2 weeks in average and goes live in the first update after its completion." Integration starts today, so we should see a listing anytime after May 17th!

We thank you for your concern, but everything is under control. Suprnova, the pool you cited, has found multiple confirmed blocks after that bad batch. We are also preparing for a hard fork that will change the mining difficulty regulator from KGW to DGW that should stop the issue of difficulty changes. This can occur when a large mining pool hops on and off the Belacoin blockchain. Under the Kimoto Gravity Well, the difficulty retargets after every block. With DGW, the difficulty retarget will follow more of an average, so there will not be as much variation in the mining difficulty.

I said ok, that happened on low diff, but diff now was 1500 - 1800, and again someone jump with big big Hashrate, and guess what !!??
All Orphans again !!!!!! And again I lost my money....so definitely I'm out with mining this coin until you fix that problem !!

So in less than 24 hours mining Bella, I lost 0.11 BTC...what a beautiful day !!!
Fix network, stop attacks !!

And as you said:
"but everything is under control. Suprnova, the pool you cited, has found multiple confirmed blocks after that bad batch."

Really ?
Did you even checked Suprnova ?

after that, they found 1 hey ONE block today and 4 yesterday !!!!!
someone is mining with all 200 MH/s
and the only one who is mining with such big Hashrate is the attacker !

And you still don't see that you have a problem ?

My suggestion is, resend my post to some expert, I can see that you don't understand to read the network and understand why that happened !
mining difficulty regulator will not fix that, Orphans doesn't become immediately but after 50 - 60 confs, what means that someone cross our blocks, someone is on his own fork and when forward us, our network, then he open the ports and our blocks became Orphans, and that is the problem what you have here, so you will not fix that with changing difficulty regulator
