If at any point you'd like to chat further or discuss the European market/insights, feel free to reach out.

Looking forward to following your project.

We thank you for that. Once we're working on user acquisition on a larger scale in March and April, we would love to reach out to get your insight. We know that European consumers and American consumers have their differences, and your insight would be valuable for our international/traveler user acquisition.

@D3m0nKinGx We are hoping to add Belacoin to Bittrex sometime in the next 6 weeks. When we have the time, we will compile the documents that they need to fully review Belacoin. Volume on Poloniex has been impressive and sustainable over the past few weeks, and we believe that the increased volume and Belacam developments make Belacoin an attractive coin for most exchanges.

The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die
@Dev possibly request for addition onto bittrex?  Reason I say this, is because there's some traders that are barred from using fully verified accounts on Poloniex due to legal restrictions in some American States.

Thank you for your insight. It's great to hear the thoughts of someone with relevant experience in marketing. First off, please let us say that this does not represent our full analysis of Belacam's target market. When making our internal plans, we go much more in-depth to know as much as we can about each group. Our real target market, of course, is much more defined than just "all travelers." A retired couple who travels twice a year would not fit well into our target market. Therefore, the description of our target markets above are somewhat simplified in order to easily inform the average Belacoin community member. In conveying our marketing goals to somewhat with your experience, we would delve deeper in our explanations.

That's the reason why we say "Millennials" when our specific target market within that subgroup would be something more along the lines of young males, without a college degree, tech-savvy, entrepreneurial (and may see Belacam as a place for him to earn money), informed and aware of cryptocurrencies, and spends more time on his computer than his phone. We want you to know that while we say "Millennials" are a target group of users, we do so for the sake of simplicity and getting our point across. Our internal workings utilize much more thought-out and researched plans.

As for considering travelers to be a high-growth sector, we mean the part that states "international travelers has increased by 50 million people each year over the past decade" rather than the part that states "98% of millennials take photos when traveling abroad." Those two numbers combined tell us that the majority of new international travelers each year will be taking pictures as they travel and will therefore be a bit more inclined to use Belacam than a non-photographing traveler.

Appreciate the reply and I get what you mean. I did expect you'd have done more in-depth profiling work, but reassuring to hear...marketers using the term 'Millennials' triggers alarm bells. It's fine when used to simplify for the masses, I suppose, it's just how it's been used by marketers in the past (who clearly haven't had a clue). It's no coincidence that Millennials are mentioned so frequently when talking about social, something that senior marketers seldom understand.

The scope is big here, we work with influencers on a daily basis to promote our clients. Some of them are, as you've highlighted, about 19 years of age and getting paid big money to take photos...big potential.

If at any point you'd like to chat further or discuss the European market/insights, feel free to reach out.

Looking forward to following your project.

What is the potential for adoption of Belacam when it launches ? Could it be as big as Snapchat, Instagram for example or will it be much more limited ? I don't have a feel for it as I lack the technical/social media background.

The user base of Belacam will not rival Instagram or Snapchat as those social media apps have had years to break into the industry and gain traction. However, we do not need to be as large as them to find success.

Steemit had 13,700 active users at it's peak and possessed a market cap of $412,000,000 at the same time. That is a valuation of $30,073 per active user. If the same numbers hold true, Belacam does need hundreds of thousands of users for it to be successful. For example, modeling Belacoin's market cap with only 10,000 active users (and using the same Value per Active User), Belacoin would be worth $300 million. That is 500 times more than today's market cap.

These numbers are strikingly outlandish, yet we have seen Steemit valued by the same metric. We also look at Belacam as a competitor to Steemit, so the numbers are relevant.

Belacam's Users
We break down Belacam's target audience into 4 separate groups:
  • Travelers: 98% of millennials take photos when traveling abroad. In 2015, there were 1.2 Billion international travelers, and the number of international travelers has increased by 50 million people each year over the past decade. Travelers are a high-growth target market.
  • Millennials: Millennials are considered to be people between the age of 18 - 35. 90% of millennials report using social media. In the United States, there are 75 million millennials. This age group possesses a disproportionately smaller amount of the aggregate wealth, with Generation X Americans and Baby Boomers possessing more.
  • Artists and Photographers: Professional photographers in the United States earn an average income of $19,000 per year, putting them at a level below the US poverty line. Belacam would provide artists with a gallery and the ability to receive cryptocurrency payments for sharing their photos, art, and passion.
  • Comedy and Meme Lovers: Social media has become a primary avenue for sharing comical images and memes. Users who browse Belacam for memes will transcend demographic boundaries but arise more from the millennial and tech-savvy crowd. These users will be more receptive to the idea of cryptocurrencies than Generation X users or Baby Boomers.

I don't know much about Belacoin or Belacam, I came here to find out more and decide whether or not it is worth the investment. There are a couple of things I'd like to point out above what you've mentioned above. I should say that I work in marketing as a strategist/planner in EU, just so you know that I 'm not talking nonesense. I signed up up just to reply to this post as I think you have an interesting project.

Firstly, you can't use the dated generation labels. It might have worked for the likes of Baby Boomers, and it was useful back in the 90s to distinguish, but in this day and age that won't cut it. There is no such thing as a Millennial audience, and this buzzword has become a bit of a red herring frowned upon phrase. This age group are very very different from 18 to 35 in how they consume and interact digitally. You're talking about pure digital natives who have grown up in the Tinder generation of swiping and tapping, versus those that have learned how to use a computer - completely different. A 35 year old 'Millennial' is more similar to a 45-year old Gen X than to an 18 year old kid.

When you say high growth target market for travellers, I assume you mean potential audience - at 98% there's not much room for growth. Again though, the way these photos are captured is different for people of this age group - you're talking high quality DSL shots versus low grade Insta shots with filters or Snapchat stories.

The artist/photographer gallery idea I find interesting. They already exist out there, but without a payment structure. My only question back would be, how have you identified the market for transactions?  I can see the problem and the need from the artists point of view, and I think it's a good cause, but what is the demand like? I'm sure you've done this work, I'd just be interested to know.

Regarding the memes, I take this as a nice to have add-on mainly because meme searches already exist and it's really straight forward to find, create and use a meme. Am I right in this assumption? Otherwise I don't really know what the USP is here. I do agree that today's youth will be more receptive to cryptocurrencies, I think you're absolutely right here... in the same way they're more accepting of internet banking, mobile payments etc.

@u15776, We're glad that you've joined our slack and have been contributing well in it. While we have answered your question in there, we will also answer it here for any non-Slack members who may be wondering the same thing.

While Belacoin's maximum supply is 54 million coins, it will be decades before it reaches its maximum supply. We are less than 6 months away from the next block reward halving, after which only 25 Belacoin will be given with each found block.

We recognize that if we can create an atmosphere of "You have to give Belacoin to receive Belacoin" in Belacam, the flow of money should be very fluid and streamlined. We have a couple ideas about how to accomplish this, and we will be testing multiple methods in our closed testing (should begin in 14 days or less).

Once Belacam integrates advertisers, the door is opened up to many different ways of facilitating the transfer of money. It would be very easy for an advertiser to pay a small amount of Belacam to a user who interacts with their advertisement, for example.

Thanks! I appreciate your fast replies.

Likes will be paid by new belacoins. Supply will be maximum 54 m if I`m correct.

But where does demand for coins come from besides speculation?

Why should I buy belacoins to donate it for nice pictures? It is the same with steemit. The only reason for buying steem is to vote and hopefully get a share of the reward. But, the reward is a function of inflation. And since they changed the inflation model from hyperinflationary to moderate, most blogs only get a few cents. Therefore, user growth has been very low in the last weeks.

It would be different, if paid advertising would be allowed on the platform and rewards of it would be distributed between coin holders.

I bought some belacoins for short-term speculation. To buy more and hold it as an investment, someone has to explain me where the demand for the coins should come from.

The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die
Today at our meeting, we got to see another live demonstration of Belacam. There's still work to be done, but it is moving well. Comments were streamlines, and once they receive a little bit of design improvements, the main feed of Belacam will nearly be complete. Once we have the main feed finished, we will release a screenshot.

Also, GIFs were integrated into Belacam. Users can post GIFs and they will display  just in a moving fashion. Allowing users to post GIFs gives them the ability to post higher quality media, increasing the likes and Belacoin that they will receive as a result.

The next things that will be worked on are the messaging system (direct messages) and improving the user's profile page. The upload page will also be streamlined to allow for drag-and-drop uploads. This simplifies the process of posting content for Belacam users on the computer.

Ty for the updates! Can't wait to see Belacam in action Cheesy

Belacam Progress Meeting

About an hour ago, we finished up our Belacam progress meeting. One of our members met with the lead developer of Belacam to get a status update on the latest updates. We have also planned 2 more meetings that our whole team will travel to attend to meet with all of the programmers involved.

We got it set up so that our team can remotely view the progress on Belacam as more stuff is added. We made a clearly defined internal plan for what needs to be accomplished next, and it's mostly little stuff. Things like streamlining messaging capabilities between accounts, making the feed of posts that you see contain only members whom you follow, etc.

The best news was that our lead developer says that beginning closed testing this month (aiming for no later than February 28th) should be doable assuming no emergencies arise. Right now, February 28th is the date that we are looking at for the beginning of the closed testing. We may begin earlier, and if we do, we will let everyone know. Once closed testing begins, expect to see frequent Belacam screenshots, occasional promotional videos, and status updates.

What is Closed Testing?
Belacam's closed testing consists of having the Belacam network live and functional for select members. Our internal team, the programmers, and security testers will be in the site. We will be making sure that everything runs smoothly (identifying and fixing bugs), playing around with changing the design to better suit the user's actions, and trying our hardest to break the system.

Why would we want to break Belacam? Breaking it only means finding vulnerabilities within the system. Once we find one, we will patch it and try again. We will continue doing this until we can no longer find any vulnerabilities in the code. If we can't find any (and we built the code from the ground up), then it is unlikely that a third party with malicious intent would be able to hack Belacam.

Security is a priority for us with Belacam. Since users are putting Belacoin into Belacam, we need to be able to safely store that money. We currently plan to use a cold wallet to store users' Belacoins. Beyond that, we want to make sure that acquired data remains safe as well.

once you give a statement about belacoin, prices rose dramatically and it gave positive for the people who hold belacoin

We are going to recommend that the community looks at Cryptiply with extreme caution. Remember, there is no reason to invest now. Allow them 6 months or more to prove themselves. If 6 months have passed, they have built a great reputation, and they are still delivering the same returns they promise, then you can begin to research them.

In general though, you are all here reading this thread because you are insightful cryptocurrency traders and investors who stay up to date with the latest altcoin news and updates. Anyone in this thread (a thread for a cryptocurrency with a market cap under $750,000) is clearly more involved than the average trader. Therefore, you are probably better at trading and investing than the average trader.

Your money is best managed by you and no one else.
