There are many whom I know who believe in the progress and their work they do with intelligence. When they do gamble they have lost a bit rather then winning. But they enjoy the gambling rather than being addicted to it. So there is no connection of believing with gambling.

It is quite funny sometimes how people can be trumpeting their beliefs or lack thereof. As for me, I prefer to just wait what can happen...if my belief will come true then good for all of us because my belief would include all of the people in the whole universe and would not exclude anyone. Otherwise, it would not harm in case things I believe in would not come true. People who don't believe on anything are actually believing on their conviction that there is nothing to believe on. Ironic, isn't it?

First, be generous to your friends and family.
But then how would you know if they are only being your friends because of your generosity? Stop being generous and this will reveal your true friends.

Second, don't do drugs or alcohol.
In moderation will do you no harm. Life is for living.

Third, go to church.
Why? That only gives the church more power and wealth.
Didn't Jesus say go sell your possessions and give to the poor? What went wrong there then as they sit on their thrones of gold giving their orders.

Free and easy money taste the best though Wink

When I think all the times I have been duped, defrauded or lost money who are doing it the 'naughty' way of making money, if I can go to a bookie and place a 10K bet and walk away with 20k or none, the choice should be mine and how can I feel guilty if I win or lose ?

A lot of cases where people won big money in lottery or casino was not happy. Moreover many of them for several years, spent all the money and died from alcohol. More money is a test.

I wish I could be part of this test. I would pass with flying colors. First, be generous to your friends and family. Second, don't do drugs or alcohol. Third, go to church.
That's what you think because you have no money. Trust easy money and greatly change people. It is very well seen on the children of millionaires. Let's see how they behave. If you do not earn money with their work you don't know their price.

What I've been asking myself is this: Why would the Devil punish you for not living like God intended? Wouldn't that guy welcome you with a beer and BBQ plus all the hot chicks/guys you want because you're more about "fuck god I'll do my own thing"?
If God helped the players all 100% successful players would be Church Ministers. Alas it is not. So gambling is the devil's spawn. In General, I don't play. I believe that easy money is an evil that will not bring joy.

I bet to differ and the opposite is rather the case.  I think you need to qualify your "believers" so that we draw the distinction because there are self acclaimed "believers" who are not genuine.

Every decision we take in our daily life is gambling as we are not sure of the of the outcome of such decision just a level of certainty. I agree that its gambling in the sense that every religion believes its own way is the right way to go and its either one of us is wrong, or we are both wrong but for those of us who are religious, I believe we dont have the answers to everything thereby we live by Faith that our course of action is the right way to go.

not that kind of gambling, but the gambling in sense have you picked the right religion. Look at my previous post and you'll get it.

So with or without God, a believer is always on the winning side, but if there is God  they will be happy forever.

Not at all.
God may exist and send believers to hell and non-believers to heaven.

Let's look at it this way:

5 religions (out of 4000+) will be in this, so you life your life by one and but he rules of that one religion to go to heaven, but you haven't respected the rules ofthe other 4 so by them you go to their hell and by 4:1 you'll be traveling from hell to hell. That's if all religions are actually legit, but let's take that one is legit, there's still 20% to pick the right one and now let's take the 4000 religions, there are more btw, so that's 0.025% to pick the right one. Even if one religious techings is true why does it have to be your one? Faith? that faith might get you to hell.

I am sure that there is no God no heaven no hell. The preachers chose a very comfortable position. If the person won he God will help and if not won then God is not heard. Absolutely a win-win position.

Let us say you are right that believing in God is a gamble, one philosopher and theologian in his writing religion as a wager says that believing in God is a gamble.

Its like a lottery you buy a ticket for 1 $ for a possible chance of winning 1 million $. If you lost then its no big deal since its only 1$ but if you win you receive a million times worth of your bet.

Then imagine living your life following God in a short time for the chance of winning being with God and live in eternal happiness is unmeasurable profit. And even if there is no God yet live your life following the virtues that a believer us set then you will have more friends and people will love you and if everyone else does the same there will be order in society.

So with or without God, a believer is always on the winning side, but if there is God  they will be happy forever.

You are referring to "Pascal's Wager", an interesting thought experiment in terms of game theory, but it has been torn apart by philosophers for a number of reasons.

Just one reason would be you would have to be believing in the one, true god (Which Pascal was implying was the Judeo-Christian god). It would actually make more sense to believe in many deities, as this gives you more chance of winning the wager.

Don't know what you're talking about. My grandmother always taught me that gambling is entertainment of the devil. How can you talk about God when talking about what is claimed and maimed many lives.

To gambling not good. I doubt that God can help players. I don't believe in God, but I am sure that gambling is a very bad thing. How many people because of them ruined their lives and even lost their lives.
