If you want to invest into an altcoin that has good proof that the team is really working hard then go for BNB. XRP and BTC would be both good options to invest at times like this because of how huge their community are. Community of users is a huge asset of a crypto since market value is determined by demand and supply. Extremely weird choice, as mentioned in the thread above. Unless you are getting some sort of decent loaning rewards for holding USDT on an exchange, I can't fathom why anyone would hold USDT. It's not really an investment, no more than holding fiat is.

What sort of bull crap? Do you even realize that USDT is a stablecoin? It is not a coin that is suitable for investment, as USDT is pegged on part with the United States Dollar. It's exchange rate is stable at 1 USDT = 1 USD. Tether was created in order to get through the ban on fiat currency usage in cryptocurrency exchanges. It has no other uses.
Holding USDT for the long term is illogical. If you want to hold, then hold United States Dollar banknotes. The returns will be the same, and the risk will be lower. But I don't understand why you want to hold the US Dollar, as it's purchasing power is going down every day. Usually people don't hold fiat currency. The preferred assets are gold, stocks, mutual funds.etc.

For me personally, investing in a cryptocurrency that costs less than a dollar does not make sense. So I don’t even consider such options. Yes, there was a time when Bitcoin was worth less than a dollar and you could buy a lot of it. It was a long time ago and you won’t return such a time. So to invest in a promising coin, you need to do a lot of analysis to find a promising coin. yes, as you can see there are already many users giving suggestions for OP with many choices and maybe the results of their research or their investment too. the most important thing is that the OP is wiser before investing in cryptoqurrency. I will only add BNB to the list of altcoins that OP is looking for, BNB is altcoin that has good progress and one of my current investments.
I think the best Altcoin to invest in small amounts under $ 1 is XLM, XRP, ADA, TRX and many others Altcoin under $ 1 all depends on your analysis to choose the right and profitable coins for you.

altcoin which has a high level of popularity I think has good potential to invest, but each altcoin has its own potential so find the potential in the altcoin so that the investment will be able to get results that match the funds spent

The few coins/tokens that I am closely paying attention to are Harmony's ONE, Monero's XMR, COSMOS (ATOM), LINK and a few more. If a bull runs come those coin would be a safe bet IMO
