For a long term investments, I give a suggest to you to invest in Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin.

But for starters i recommend you go for safer altcoins like Ethereum, Dash or Ripple. You will see some profit if you invest in the top 5 altcoins.

I think investing in ethereum,ripples or litecoins can be a good option as they have the potential to grow more and they have a good market cap value.Or you can also choose any current top 10 alt coins as their prices will increase as bitcoin is falling as segwit2x was been cancelled so it can be good time to invest in altcoins.

it seems that I'm not too sure if SiaCoin can reach the top 10 position, if seen from the development of this coin isn't too show significant progress even tends to decline, while to be able to compete in the top 10 is not easy to require popularity and public confidence in the SC to make investment inside it. seems to be more dominated by old coins in the top 10 such as Eth, ltc, dash, neo, zec, xmr, bcc, zen, wave, and altcoin etc. which have a chance to keep on increasing.

in the situation for now. for me the best altcoins to buy for now is a NEOG and CREDENCE. in this coins can you have instant profit in an instant and be a one time millionaire. but too risky because its pump in an instant but a bid dump in an instant.
