I think EOS and NEO are really good projects and their future is quite bright, because they have huge communities and really great and very perspective technologies

The EOS project is still the main competitor, but for a year it has not created any problems, the development of the project is taking very slow steps, and this accordingly has an impact on the price of the EOS coin.

I see EOS is the best Ethereum, now EOS is progressing quite well and managed to attract a lot of people, besides that, there are now a lot of emerging EOS-based tokens.

I prefer NEO. This coin has a huge potential and is a strong competitor to Ethereum. IOTA is also an outstanding coin, that will compete. But both NEO and IOTA should do much more marketing, partnerships and other things, to make their currencies more popular.

Ethereum can process only 25 tps compared to 2000 tps Tron. In a recent testing platform Zilliga managed to reach a rate of 2828 tps. This means that it will be difficult for the Ethereum to remain the king of smart contracts and ICO. And yet - it is worth recalling that the Stellar platform is now more convenient for launching ICO in comparison with ETH. As will be further - we'll see.

Exactly. Now there are various cryptocurrencies that provide smart contract capabilities but are much more scalable than Ethereum itself. Ethereum could be the leader of dApps and Tokens nowadays, but if it doesn't manage to scale on time, then other alternatives might take the lead. Nearly every smart contract platform we know and love today, are 10 to 1000 times faster and cheaper than Ethereum. There's nothing stopping developers from choosing an alternative over Ethereum since, they provide many benefits that are too hard to ignore.

While the competition is becoming fierce every day, I believe that only one smart contract platform will be the leader. Right now, it's Ethereum and could remain that way for many years to come. However, things could change, where another smart contract platform would take the lead in the launch of new dApps and Tokens for ICOs. It could be either EOS, Cardano, NEO or even Tron as the world's most popular and widely adopted smart contract platform. As you've said earlier, Tron is far superior than Ethereum in terms of TPS and fee costs. It should only be a matter of time before developers switch to this new platform as its benefits are numerous.

Considering that Tron is widely compatible with EVM, developers that know how to develop dApps and Tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, could easily switch to Tron. However, all will depend on the level of marketing/promotion, to make Tron recognized by the masses. Therefore, we'll see what will happen in the future, if Ethereum doesn't manage to scale on time. If it manages to scale with Casper PoS by next year, then things will become huge by then. Just my thoughts Grin

In fact, Ethereum still has no rivals. Although there are many coins growing up, it is very difficult to surpass Ethereum. There is no absolute advantage in technology. This is impossible. A coin that can solve the shortcomings of Ethereum use can surpass it.

The increasing number of new coins that have sprung up is not so effective in making ethereum. But, the increase from EOS which has skyrocketed and is consistent with the implementation of platforms in scattered regions has made EOS increasingly known and favored by the community. Now EOS is a fairly active competitor for ethereum.

EOS is indeed very well known now. So from that competitor from ethereum is true as you say is EOS. It is undeniable that ethereum now has a very extraordinary competitor. How we look at the future, will ethereum be eliminated by EOS.

The best competitor for Ethereum I think one of them is Eos, this coin is now widely known, it is not wrong if EOS is now growing better and is ready to be the best competitor for ethereum
Do you have any suggestions for buying and holding EOS right now? give me a suggestion, thanks!  Wink

I know that you can use several programming languages, but besides of this, what do NEO bring to the table?
NEO is not a bad idea, however personally I think the EOS or ADA will be worth more. I am particularly interested in the ADA

Steem SMTs for me. No transaction fees, low token creation fees, and already a big community to use this tokens. They are scheduled next year.

maybe we will see a real ethereum competitor in may 2018. After some good news this week maybe tezos will launch in may. Tezos has some great devs and tech going on, but some shitty management that we hope leaves project in near time.

Up to this point, I think NEO has evolved to become the best competitor of ETH. Although they are competing in crypto, in my opinion, NEO cannot go beyond ETH. Because they are still within the scope of the platform, and in my opinion, ETH is like its parent of NEO. So no matter what the development of NEO, NEO will stay below ETH.

I think the best competitors of ethereum should come from different types of blockchain and not of those that are ERC-20 compliant. But in the price sense, more ERC-20 tokens are actually valued so much like ethereum and still have an impact in the market.
