Gulden could very well had been the best ROI in 2016?  Wasn't it complete gutter trash sitting at $300K-something and it later hit $15 million?  500x ROI is not something you see everyday.

COVAL will soon do a similar ROI, probably more as its so cheap because its hidden on a slack channel and the developers don't want to touch this forum. The thread is barely alive even though its one of the most innovative projects at the moment.

I think about turning my altcoins back to bitcoin. Seems like bitcoin will do a big jump in useability next year. Therefore we will hopefully see a big price increase and I dont know if the altcoin market can compete with that.

I would say Gulden is in for another good year since not many are talking about it here. NEM and Gulden are two best performing currencies in 2016, NEM gets a lot of attention on bitcointalk but Gulden is hardly mentioned. It's the silent ones that end up being the killers. Wink

99.9% of altcoins have no reason for existing beyond pump and dump speculation. Bitcoin would be your best bet.

there are several examples of altcoins rising very high in 1 year. such as XMR increased to over 0.02, ETH, EGC and others.
but indeed it is difficult to determine a good altcoins for investment within 1 year. altcoin is trading short-term and long-term better hold bitcoin.

Buy now when cheap, sell at poloniex in 2017...
You can buy now only at one small exchange https://liqui.io/#/exchange/GNT_BTC
No more exchange Btc for Golem now. Once it hit bittrex and poloniex, we'll see nice bubble and big market.

Hi guys, I'm new to all this, looking to invest in some cryptocurrency long and possibly short-term. I'm guessing from this thread that Bitcoin is my best bet for now.

Where would you suggest I buy them, in the U.K.?

I was looking at some of the other ICOs mentioned on this thread and when I google them it doesn't seem obvious how I go about investing in any of them. Is there a simple platform where I can buy and sell any or all of these?

Apologies if I'm being a little thick here but as I say, this is all new to me.

Many thanks.

Hi ronseal,
You could  definitely  buy bitcoins  just  do search  on  localbitcoins  you  could  able  to  purchase some.  Theres no Alt   could able to   break  even  or surpass bitcoin  on any ways. Just  like what  OP  do ask too  but still there are  potential  alts  that do  have   good marketcap and  would  also  profitable  but  not  the same as  bitcoins.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. Excuse my ignorance but how does localbitcoins work, is it secure? Am I buying from like "dealers" who just take a small cut?

Do I basically need to buy bitcoins to purchase other alt coins?

If you are willing to be patient and not want a pump and dump but a steady grower then COVAL. A lot of what they promised will come to fruition in the beginning of next year.

Gridcoin(GRC) -  By far the most secure and decentralized medical/research coin.   There might be some interesting developments in the area not to mention this coin has an extremely solid network with its thousands of researchers and fast transactions.

Other than bitcoin I think XMR, ICN and Wings DAO would be nice to be added now for 2017. Wings DAO ICO is yet to start.

What do you think about Wings? Is it more like a short term investment or long term?
Long term? You can read some in his white paper.
But, actually the WINGS DAO are planting a large target for his project, I might have thought if the WINGS project is the long-term project.

I believe in what ICONOMI team are doing, this token will change the way of investing in crypto coins, I think after 5 or 6 months from now when all ICONOMI products are alive, the price will be much higher, as well as the profit from dividends, maybe a lot of people will regret they didn't invest in ICN.

Look at the top 20 on coin market cap and then start scratching off ones that have nothing to offer. Example... Waves is platform, it's gonna be big. Litecoin has been in the closet for years, so it will pump eventually, but not as fast or hard at currencies that have active devs and aLong term plan.

We need to invest in projects that represent a platform, not just cryptocurrency.

Thats why the likes of NEM and Ardor (Nxt) are good choices!  Cheesy

Second this, NEM is actually a platform that is having different elements developed and implemented over time.

I had a good return on investment in ETH at the beginning of 2016. But I do not think that this trend will continue in 2017. Maybe I'll get another help Wings Wink I have a substantial investment in ARDR, but do not count on a quick profit.
