You can get started here. This is just the beginning but you need to do a lot more research to get familiar. More like read about how individuals lost Bitcoins due to some faults.

1. one person lost bitcoin on bitstamp exchange because the person didn't have 2FA enabled on their email and bitstamp admin removed his 2FA
2. another person lost eth by going to a phishing site and inputting private key
3. another person sent crypto to incorrect address due to some malware on their machine
4. a lot of people had bitcoin on mt.gox in 2013. exchange got hacked and they lost it all
5. bitfinex exchange got hacked but refunded customers
6. btc-e was shutdown but they were able to refund customers 63% or something

You get the picture. Not trying to scare you but be-careful out there. Use ad block such as ublock with firefox/chrome and anti-virus etc.

I would suggest learning some fundamentals of bitcoin somewhere on the Internet, but then spend much more time being here, as here you can get the freshest knowledge from the industry. There are a lot of experienced members who can explain most of the stuff in different manners so that you should definitely understand everything. Good luck!

I recommend Youtube, you can find there a lot of interesting information for beginners. There are also many books, but I have seen many of them, and for beginners, not many are useful. You can always ask a question here!

Hello I am looking for a simple beginner guide to bitcoin.

can anyone tell me a good one?

There are plenty of user guides on youtube. In terms of text user guides I want to highlight https://blockgeeks.com. It is one of the most informative and user-friendly. Also, Dmitry Buterin is behind the Block Geeks project, so it is definitely worth attention.

It is best that you always use the internet because crypto is based on technology and development and only here you will find the latest information.

I did started with searching on net, some books to help understanding the basic stuff, also one can look out for some youtube videos and go through this forum which will suffice majority of the answers to the questions people may have about such cypto currencies.

i think Internet is the best place to learn it gives you all the information about bit coin. because present in internet all videos and information available so try once in this and learn something from this. next coinmarketcap site it is one of the best site for every one. who want to enter in to crypto currency. so you have to search in this internet and coinmarketcap.cpm site next one is blockchain.info it was also giving more information about crypto currency.
