My advice is to use a wallet like Electrum (https://electrum.org) and save the seed in a safe place.

Bitcoin is stored on the network and to use the same Bitcoin you need a private key of the corresponding address. Thus it is recommended hold Bitcoins in offline wallets such as securely generated paper wallet or reputed hardware wallets like Trezor. Even if you're taking all the security precautions on the exchange or wallet, you never know what kind of security precautions are being taken on the server side so holding anything online has a risk. So I believe that offline wallets are best in terms of of security.

Hardware wallet are the best wallets. They are the most secure way to store your coins. Trezor and Ledger are two that I know of that are good. Once you have more than a few hundred dollars into cryptocurrencies you should invest into buying a hardware wallet.

Since you have different kinds of coins unfortunately you also need to have different kinds of wallets for each specific coin.

Bitcoin: Electrum | https://electrum.org
Ripple: Toastwallet | https://toastwallet.com
Dash: https://www.dash.org/wallets/#wallets

I've found out the hard way regarding security. So I follow some staple sucurity measures know. I store all my coins on multiple hard wear wallets and I also have the private keys written down stored safe. I think for online wallets you are taking a risk but there are a few with less cases of hacks than others. I like my ether wallet. I used to use exodus but the recent hack scared me.

Hi All,

unfortunatelly I lost almost all my cryptocurrencies, which I had in 2014, since I left them on exchanges.

Now, I only could access one exchange with 0.1 bitcoin, cash - goldcoin. Additionally, I have stille some ripple xrp coins. Now, I was wondering how to store them savely? If I download only the bitcoin wallet all the blocks are going to be donwloaded which is a lot of data.

Could anybody recommend me how to save the coins savely, I actually whould like to store different once. Since I also lost over 400 Dark/dashcoins, since I left them on an exchange....

thanks in advance

You said in another post that you are a ripple millionaire .. ha ha ha

The better solution is an hardware wallet, less vulnerable and completely of your property, you own all that you need to stroe crypto and sell again on an exchange if you want.

I think Ledger is the best one.

I am sorry you lost coins, don't give up, is good see you again in cryptos!

Best wallet is ledger nano or trezor. But these hardware come with price.
If you dont want to shill out money you can go for Desktop wallets or paper wallets. They too are safe.

I use freewallet and myetherwallet. this combination works perfectly for me

Can you please tell me why doesn't everybody use Freewallet? As I got the point it can work with BTC and ETH. Why so much people using MEW instead? MEW is only for Ethereum as I got.

Is it a question of security?

I also heard about the commission if you send ETH from one MyEtherWallet to another. Is it truth? Because I heard Freewallet doesn't have a commission.

I'm quite new to the wallet stuff so still ain't following some things. You will help me strongly with your answers.
