i think we should plan sunday as our tournament day. on saturdays it can be that one or the other is invited to some party or to his family or simply wants to spend saturday with his sweetheart Wink -snip-
Sundays would also be best for me. Friday or Saturday there are often other things on my to-do list.  Wink

and as for the number of tables, i would depend on the number of participants in the tournament. for example, if there are 12 participants, 2 tables with 6 players each would be enough - or if there are 15, 3 tables with 5 players each. -snip-
That sounds good. However, the tables should not be too empty. 4 or 5 players at a table should be the minimum.  Smiley

how high should the buy-in be ... would 0.001 be okay for all? -snip-
Would be okay for me.  Smiley

So we start in March or rather later? -snip-
In my opinion, we shouldn't start later than march. As soon as it gets warm, many people will no longer have time.  Smiley

0.005 would be too high for me in general ... that would therefore deter some participants

0.001 should be fine for a regular sunday! Did we already speak about Rebuys/Addons? Will this be a thing aswell?

I guess sundays are fine, is there a rough schedule in mind? So we start in March or rather later?
Towards the summer it could be more difficult again, because then you like to enjoy the time outside unless you live in a sunny place!

15-25$ should be okay. What about structure and approximate date of the series? I think 6-8 min is the best option for such tournaments. Hope it will start soon...

I think I am going to join you guys, but I just need to figure out whether I will actually be available on those Sundays.

I don't know if it has already been set, but I would definitely suggest Sundays (not Saturdays) as the date.

This way you have the option to play a few more tournaments on the big platforms at the same time. One-tabling a single table for hours is a bit boring in the long run, haha. Doesn't Betnomi also have a bigger Sunday tournament which is open to everyone? And are there actually rules for multi-tabling there? Or can you only open a limited number of tables?

Also, I would keep our tournament series shorter rather than longer (and then restart), otherwise some members might not want to participate because they don't have time on one or two Sundays, for example.

Well, even if someone misses a round or two (and I guess each of us missed at least one or two games per series) can still reach the final table. Of course, if he plays well in all other rounds. I guess that's the point in the series, to reach that sponsored final table! Smiley

I am not sure if there is a limited number of tables, I never played more than 2 or 3 tables at once at Betnomi. I think there is no limit by Betnomi, limit comes from too many opened tabs to follow, in my case, more than 2-3 would be too much for me...

As Yahoo says, it's impossible to please everyone... I don't care if it's Saturday or Sunday, it's almost the same for me, I will try to find time in any case.

Thank you guys for reviving the poker theme for the Bitcointalk community.

suck at poker but I'll put a prize on my head each week to the tune of 0.015BTC which means that if you take me out in any of the weeks you are basically freerolling the rest of the tournament.

This is the best motivation there is!) Thnx)

Hi @cygan, @icopress,

I think I am going to join you guys, but I just need to figure out whether I will actually be available on those Sundays.

Do you have an idea when the tournament is going to start roughly in terms of the date/month?

And the price (besides the pool money) is the first version of the Icarus cards that do not yet serve as cold wallets right?

Cheers!

I am not sure I get this... $10-$15 buy-in per game is what we had before. If 0.005 "main" buy-in means for all games (for example Cool it's like $15 dollars per game at the moment, if I get it right? And that's fine... we had many discussions about the "buy-in" amount, $15 is not so expensive but at the same time, it's not so low to attract all kinds of players.
Oops! Damn it! I think I was too tired when I read the post. I thought he meant 0.005 BTC per game. Sorry for the mix up. For all games together it would probably be ok. I think I have to have a coffee first thing in the morning and then write. Then that doesn't happen anymore.  Cheesy

Who's giving odds on how many of the I'm in guys in this thread are no shows? I would probably gamble on that based on past series. I'm also a bit butthurt that some might've been pmed where I was left out being as I participated in all the past series.
This is my first time of seeing this poker tournament games, I have not noticed it before looking at the features and the characteristics of the series it will be fun to partake in the tournament.  You don't have to be hurt, you are always welcome to the tournament to have fun. And you were not left out, you are always in, they have welcome you onboard.
All the best and best luck
I wasn't really butthurt lol. I know that myself and everyone else on this forum is welcome to play in the game or games, whatever format is chosen. I was just giving bullrun some shit since he mentioned he got a pm about the game.

0.005BTC "main" buy-in that goes to prize pool for finalists in total (added to the final week basically if we do points like in the past).
0.0025BTC "weekly" buy-in that is added to the prizepool on each weekly gameday so to speak. -snip-
Oh, but that would be expensive. But I'm not sure whether it might not be too high and fewer people would play along as a result. With such a high stake, I wouldn't be sure if I'd be there. I'm just not a good poker player and for me this tournament would be just too expensive to have a little fun.  Smiley

The above would be my dream scenario and I know splashing out 0.0075BTC the first week is not for everyone but I think we could garner some decent interest either way!

Well, I would play anyway, but to be honest, I'm not sure there will be enough players for 1 table with that buy-in.

The bounties are nice addition... you are rising the heat, maybe this series will turn into something very interesting! Smiley

There's supposed to be more than one series, right? If so, could you do a high stakes series and a low stakes series? So there would be something for everyone. Or what do the rest of you say?  Smiley

Welcome to the club. Then you are like me. Either way, that would be a generous gesture. I can also remember that you have made such a bounty on yourself before.  Cheesy

Meh.
Posting before reading all of the thread in case I would forget about this and then it's too late.

My suggestion:

0.005BTC "main" buy-in that goes to prize pool for finalists in total (added to the final week basically if we do points like in the past).
0.0025BTC "weekly" buy-in that is added to the prizepool on each weekly gameday so to speak.

NL Holdem with 1 rebuy throughout the series (I read about the 4 week setup which would make this nice). This way you may not ever have to rebuy or perhaps you can clinch a final spot in the 3rd week with that rebuy if it has not been used prior. 1 Hour or so should be enough.

10-15 minute rebuys with not too deep of a stack (5k would be perfect, 10k is fine).

The above would be my dream scenario and I know splashing out 0.0075BTC the first week is not for everyone but I think we could garner some decent interest either way!

Also, I suck at poker but I'll put a prize on my head each week to the tune of 0.015BTC which means that if you take me out in any of the weeks you are basically freerolling the rest of the tournament.

Let's play! Smiley

As for the structure, I don't think there is room for experimenting.. what we had was the simplest possible and what suits the majority of players. So I don't have some suggestions about it, I'm sure it will be interesting to play with some of you guys again, regardless of the tournament structure... I am definitely in!

Just givin ico and cygan some hell at your expense. I'm sure they would send all past players a pm at some point. Wasn't trying to start any drama.

I know many will show interest and only half that do will show up. It's the same issue we had with the series. Time is not anyone's friend. There is never a perfect time to play a scheduled poker game with everyone across the globe.
of course you are also very welcome at the poker tournaments Kiss and why you didn't get a dm i can't answer unfortunately Tongue

and on the second point i agree with you completely. first everyone shouts 'here, here' and when it comes to the start, half of them are missing (of course this is also due to the different time zones)
but the start time is now almost fixed and still there will be cancellations...

No bad blood buddy. I received a private message from a German-speaking user on this thread because he knows that I played poker for many years.

It was not an official message inviting users.

Who's giving odds on how many of the I'm in guys in this thread are no shows?

And yea you're probably right, but playing a complete series is different from a single event. If the dates don't fit you (e.g. if you have to work on Sundays), there is not much you can do. Therefore, let's stay positive. The more attention this thread gets, the more users will sign up in the end.

Especially @cygan and Icarus really deserve a good boost, after the yogg drama.  Smiley

Date: ? Time: ? Buy-in:? GTD:?

Call: Launch a freeroll, this week as a test, Saturday and Sunday! Cool

Discussion Thread ♥♠♦♣: Ok.!
  • Check: I think that the discussion in relation to schedules, stack, and the etcetera that is generated around this topic,  have there is a lot of previous discussion, 7 series have passed, then at least they should have released tentative date and time, that way to have a starting point (already known due to the previous series)
  • Raised: Two tournaments every Sunday and the first 4 in each tournament go directly to the final, an eventual 9th place, is the wild card to the best of those two tournaments using the well-known award of points. This has nothing to do with the distribution of money or the ITM that is generated by the concept of records.
  • RR:So, 3 games are scheduled every month, with the option of playing at least two.

Given the jargon used... kind greetings! @yahoo62278 and please no Fold.  Smiley

Wasn't it also the Betnomi Series, where unfortunately many promised people never showed up? Especially stupid for the organizers - in that case it was you, if I remember correctly....  Huh

I don't want to use it as an excuse, but for me the problems with the client were just too extreme.
