I'm also a bit butthurt that some might've been pmed where I was left out being as I participated in all the past series.

No bad blood buddy. I received a private message from a German-speaking user on this thread because he knows that I played poker for many years.

It was not an official message inviting users.

Who's giving odds on how many of the I'm in guys in this thread are no shows?

And yea you're probably right, but playing a complete series is different from a single event. If the dates don't fit you (e.g. if you have to work on Sundays), there is not much you can do. Therefore, let's stay positive. The more attention this thread gets, the more users will sign up in the end.

Especially @cygan and Icarus really deserve a good boost, after the yogg drama.  Smiley

Thanks for the PM. Finally a new Bitcointalk Poker Series. Awesome. Since I have already played in several poker tournaments on Bitcointalk in the past and always had a lot of fun, I would of course also participate in this series (if my time allows it)Smiley

Argentine representative on gambling board
Really good to heard this!

I hope to join this tournament, first time for me, me only problem can be the time but i will try to accommodate me. I dont suggest any special hour because i live in Argentina and its like -3GMT and most of you live in another time zone, so decide you the time because always we can have trouble if you ask anyone for this.

1 mbtc for me its fine, and for the time running i suggest the same as above, please not so long tournaments at least in the qualys, but a 4 hours tournament its fine.

Oh great news.
Any estimations when it starts? In February, March, November?
Is it open or bitcointalk members tournament only?

What should perhaps also be clarified beforehand -besides the buyin - would be the structure.

Hyper Turbo, Turbo or rather a "slow" structure with deep stacks?

As long as it's not the "Pokerstars Deep Stack structure", which takes like 15 hours+, I am fine with any structure, haha. It would be best to have a structure that requires a maximum of 3-4 hours for each tournament. For a deeper structure we probably lack the participants.

Game mode should actually be clear - NLH (No Limit Hold'em)

The previous Bitcointalk poker tournaments were always No Limit Hold'em, right? I would keep it that way tbh, because NLH is the game that usually attracts the most users. PLO and other variants are also very exciting, but these probably attract significantly fewer participants.

I think 7-8 min is the best option for the tournaments like that...

Nice to hear about new series, Hope I'll see old poker players from the forum soon.
One thing that could be change is structure... In the last series time between blinds was not enough and after 1 hour of the game it was all about luck and not skills. Also quite interesting when will it start approximately?

But maybe some still feel like a side event with PLO or other variants?

Since no exact date was announced, there is still enough time. But this should be clarified in any case so that there are no misunderstandings Smiley

Edit: If there is still somehow help needed, I offer myself gladly. But then please early enough!  Cheesy

explain it very simple for an idiot like me who has never played in one of these types of things - I want to join hate the idea of playing but want to try and win one of the Icarus cards :/

If you've never played poker before, it's best to start by familiarizing yourself with the rules of Texas Hold'em poker.

After that, you may start at one of the many poker websites with play money to get an idea of the game (I think Betnomi also offers play money poker games - so you don't have to register on various websites).

And then just play a few times. I can't imagine that the skill level will be too high in our poker round. Therefore, I am sure that everyone has a pretty big chance to get to the final table and win one of the great prizes.

i don't have to explain texas hold'em poker to you explicitly, do i? Roll Eyes
if yes - got to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_hold_'em

everything else is not so difficult and you need the following:

  • Betnomi account (is free and only requires an email address)
  • your entry (buy-in) of e.g. 0.001BTC (when depositing the amount you would then dm'ed the password for the tournament)
  • good luck and a great poker face Cool
  • if you make it to the final table, your Icarus card will be yours for sure

I have been playing poker on this site and have to say that I love their engine, It will be awesome to participate in the tournament against other forum users.

I will follow this thread and be patient until the tournament starts.

It would be nice if the game mode is KnockOut to make some extra money while we scale up positions.

I put it on "Watch" and clicked that "notify" button as well so I wouldn't miss out but hoping that the designated time will be fine for me too because from the past, it was likely the hindrance on my end. I'm fine for $10-$15 buy-in, 'cause it's more affordable and I guess a lot will agree.
This poker tournament is a popular tournament for bitcointalk forum members and I don't think any gambler who is also a member of this forum will ever miss it.
Maybe it would be very exciting if you could participate, but not all gamblers can play great poker.
Therefore, we can watch the tournament alone, which is a pleasure in itself where we see several players with amazing techniques and ways to play poker.
It's not that $10-$15 is a nominal amount which is quite a bit whereas if we really believe and like it maybe we can raise it back to $40-$50, I'm just giving a little input and all choices are still in your own hands.

Disobey.
Sounds interesting, will def check it out.

Disagreed with CoinEraser, lower than 0.001 makes it quite uninteresting - unless you offer a few tournaments running at the same time with a lower buyin.

If this would result in a series with a leadboard etc, that would indeed be amazing and you could count me in.
Not sure if I missed it - can't find any info on the time-schedule; when is this supposed to start.

Great effort, guys.

Thank you for organizing a new poker series. If I have enough time, I will participate in the games again. So far, series like this have always been very good and a lot of fun. Hopefully many people will participate again. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing old faces again, but of course also to new ones.  Cool

i would also be for a buy-in of 0.001BTC -snip-
At the current price of $23,816.67, that would be almost $24. Sure, many of us can afford it, but it seems a bit high and I'm afraid it doesn't get many participants to the tables. Especially if you play all the games in a series, you can quickly reach $100 to participate. So I would go for something like $10 or even a freeroll to attract players in the first new series. This could result in more people getting involved and continuing to play even when the odds of winning are slim.  Smiley

i would also be for a buy-in of 0.001BTC and i would set the stakes somewhere between 5k-10k
18:00 cest would be a perfect time for the european players and in the states it would be sunday between 9:00 and 12:00 ... so you could sit at the poker table with a cup of coffee Grin
as far as the platform is concerned, i'm not worried. the whole website was redesigned recently and as i read icopress post, he has already played a few tournaments without any problems.
