Always bookmark the main site and always re-check the url to ensure that it is correct to avoid phishing sites that have a lot of spread in the virtual world because it's not just about Okex exchanges related to phishing issues, things like this have been repeatedly reminded to be careful because even those who already accustomed to using the site but not storing it or bookmarking, they are still possible to enter the phishing hole because of their own carelessness.

Bookmarking would really ensure out that you wont really go to the wrong link or site but people do neglect even into this very basic thing thats why they do really end up on getting scammed. It doesnt really that require too much effort for having a simple search on any site that you are tending to use.Even just using our own common sense would really be enough.

We have seen countless scam sites out there and it isnt something new that why we should really be vigilant into our surroundings
so that the tendency or chance of getting scammed is less.

This type of scam is like a normal thing that I see these days, there are so many of them that I do see and it's not just about OkeX; other big websites I know also has some fake websites owned by scammers that are pretending to be the real website and its usually newbies that fall for this. This is the reason it's not going to just jump on any site you see, you should do proper research and try to get the right link to the website you're looking for and not just jump on anything you see. Even wallets do get fake ones that are impersonating the real ones. Like I said, it's already a normal thing and everyone should really be aware of it.

I remember there are USA government based reporting available for blocking this kind of phishing sites. I believe people here might have already reported the fake site to be blocked. It must be a responsible for all of us. I will do right away from my end to make sure no scammers go unreported.

you mean to say the impersonator is the only scammer but the giveaway is still legit ?  or the impersonator is part of the giveaway act.  better if you check the page that your trying to join or their account if its verified or not  .

verified account usually have a small check icon beside thier name.  legit giveaways are also being targeted by impersonators and they will say  that they will contact you but they arent related to the team  . its obvious if they will ask something in return

Yeah, the GA was legit but some scammer impersonated the Twitter handler.

I have should have noticed the handler and like you said, the tick too. Social engineering at its finest

It is best to save the exchange URL or on the exchange's official media to inquire about the official website and should confirm before making a deposit.

I never mistakenly click on the link of another exchange because before logging into an account, I always review the site 2 to 3 times. Anyway, being careful is still better, and this is the only way to protect you from scam sites.

This reminded me of a scam that I nearly fell victim to. I won a giveaway on Twitter and was sent a virtual item, or skin by the site admin.

Not long after, I got PMed by an impersonator which I was not aware of, that told me to send the item (or my inventory) to his account to receive a bonus on the site I played on.

Being a newbie I was that time, I nevertheless asked on the site chat and was told it was all a scam. Sometimes your hesitance or reluctance pays off.

Lots of scammers who make fake websites, because by making fake websites it's easy to fool people. Indeed, most people when click link
websites rarely carefully see the address to be addressed, so many are fooled by the way make fake websites. So I'm not surprised to see
a fake okex exchange, if we are always careful when going to click links. Of course it's easy to avoid fraud like this.

It doesnt really cost you an arm and leg to have some little research into things.People who do get victimized with this stuffs are to those who dont have consider on searching up things and directly deposit blindly until they do realize that they had already been scammed.

This isnt something new and just been said above that this been around since from the beginning. As long theres money where these scammers to sip on then they would do these kind of things even if they would mimic out
known sites for them to fool out people.

When you are in doubt then always verify everything before making any deposit and dont let your laziness do control you. Grin

Phishing has been around since internet first started. There has been plenty of university scams that started a whole new level of universities getting new style of .com (was it k12 or whatever, I forgot but a brand new extension for schools). People literally scammed out of their whole tuition for the semester, they literally lost all their college money on a phishing website because they wanted to pay online.

At the end of the day you can't stop them, people could get any domain they want, but its your job to check and see if you really are in the website you think you are. Normally I just bookmark websites I frequently use, that way I know where I am going since the correct website I go to is already bookmarked so there is no way I can misclick anything.

Maybe it is better if you transfer this to Scam accusation section
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/debonaire217-2409302

It is done already not with the OP but with the other person.

I have already reported this here, [SCAM]: Fake OKeX trading website.
okex.com exchange is one of the numbers of exchanges whos been clone by scammers. A lot of reputable exchanges been having this kind of trick and for sure a lot of people had lost their credentials. A tricky thing is that once we mistakenly input the wrong letter, it will directly send us to fake/pishing sites. This is to know that, anything illegal could possibly happen on the internet by now and it helps for the scammer still alive.

It is a good idea to bookmark the legit one to avoid getting pished. And we have to check first the site before login, this is to be sure that we are in the right place.

That is why security awareness is very important. People need to learn how to check the sites and what to look for. Scamers have more and more sophisticated techniques and it's not always easy to spot fake exchange on the first glance.
But it's not everything only up to users, exchanges should also pay more attention to security and warn their users when fake site appears and how to get to legitimate one. That is something that we still miss.

I agree with this one, I'm not really sure if exchanges are giving their customers fair warning about any clone sites. A simply tweet will be suffice, and then an email will be good as well. If this is not the case, then we really need to be very careful. Yes, it is hard to fake exchange as first glance, that's why we really need to check everything first. Bookmark the legit sites, educate ourselves, do our research and help create awareness if there is a scam/phishing site out in the wild.

Obviously even in the site name they are different so why have some become a victim?i don't understand whats happening in people in crypto.
Not only okex, but there are many fake exchanges that have been spread at this time, even I could see some banners posted on websites that provide information about cryptocurrency. In addition to bookmarking we also must always be careful when wanting to login into the desired exchange and make sure the url is real (because sometimes someone types in typo).
Just visit scam accusation section and you will find all of them and also in Beginners and help where some posts goes there for many may know.
one of the threats from outsiders, if you are not observant then you will be trapped, like rats, your username and password will be stored by hackers, maybe some people have been hit by this fake site, and lost their assets in Okex, and blame Okex, I think we must be careful and always better Bookmark the exchange site
i once become a victim of phishing site so i know the feeling of being hacked so let us be vigilant and knowledgeable for there are thousand of hackers and scammers in this forum and outside.

I only trust the official exchange sites that appear in the media because those are the most accurate links, and I always save the URL to avoid scams. There are now hundreds of exchanges that use fake domain names to pretend, and before clicking on any website, look carefully before logging in. Of course, sometimes I also mistakenly click on a phishing site, but fortunately I did not log in.
