Lucko,

Since you seem to know what you are talking about (and I'm very new to this chip buying thing).... I was trying to digest everything in this post, and one thing I read I wanted to confirm..

If I have a Jalapeno (which I'll have in a few months), can I buy say 2 of these BFL chips - and mount it onto the Jala? Or would I need to send the Jala to someone (like yourself, or your team) and have them mount the chips? Or is this not possible at all? My Jala will already have the 7 GH when I receive it. Can it accept 2 more chips?

Thanks for any advice you can give Smiley

Regards,
FAT

Short answer, no.  Even if you could get the chips mounted (it's very difficult to even add a third chip), and the Jalapeno could provide enough power (it can't), you wouldn't be able to cool it sufficiently - it would get so hot the traces would start lifting off the board.

And FWIW: I've been waiting for my Jalapenos for 13 months now, and don't expect to receive them this year. Don't hold your breath waiting...

I've seen a guy that says he can do it. You as hell can't do it yourself. You need an oven.

Since we are modular it can be anything. You only need to change communication and power modul and that is not that hard... Chip module then connect to it...

More more thing. Would that be something interesting. PCI or PCI-e miner? You put it into slot in your computer and that is it?

No ... not really from my point of view.
It will result in a heat problem similar to what GPU rigs have at the moment.
Additionally there is no need for the extra bandwidth on the "data bus".

So only 1 shipping cost? boards from you to me?
Yes the rest will be my cost... And if you are EU don't forget about VAT.

EDIT: But I can't tell you how much it will be since that will be calculated based on declared value...

I have been promised a quote for the board on Wednesday. But from my experiences I would say end of the week.

I'm in Slovenia, boards will be made in Slovenia.

You will need to pay for shipping. Cost depends where you are and how much you will buy.

Boards will be close to cost but not there. Buyers who didn't buy chips hire will have higher price(5$ per chip) but in case of big orders there will be discounts. GB buyers will probably be paying about 5 to 10$ more per board then it will cost me to make it(all the work on firmware and something for the designer of the board and for test boards)

I think I'm in for 44 chips. What country are you in? What country will boards be in?
Will I have to pay shipping from you to boards to me?
Will we get boards at cost?

Interested but would like more (solid) info on total price of board incl assembly before joining the GB

Same here and I do not like the timelines from BFL.
Complicity understand. But without risk you can also loss big. Avalon chips buyers started the same way but now they are selling extra chips for 2 times the value...
