I'm getting a bad gateway error on forum.biblepay.org - passing the message along.

I sent a message to TheSnat, and since he is moving to limited duty and spending time with his family it might take a while.

Let's give him 24 hours to reply before we make any emergency repairs.

I am noticing my sancs are taking 80% of the memory on 1GB $5 machines of Vultr, which is new (it was normally 30-40%). Some of them have even crashed. I don't know the reason but I suspect of this sudden required RAM spikes.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar behaviour in sancs?

I think this was resolved by now, but nevertheless Im running a sanc report now.

If any log remnants exist please send them.

Everything looks normal to me now, we have 30,000 difficulty level, so I believe something was happening yesterday at that particular time (like a failed instantsend tx cascading through the sancs, and all of them failing to vote on it).  I believe something exists in the old codebase that still has some type of instantsend bug that has been fixed in Evo.  (We should not see instantsend related crashes once we all upgrade in 20 days).

Hi Rob

I have just seen a tweet introducing Biblepay.
Twitter is a good medium. However, to me the initial message is wrong.

"What is Biblepay(BBP) - Fork of Dash - No premine - no ICO - deflationary"

This seems to be aimed at the crypto community - hardened crypto geeks.
I feel that this makes BBP just one more coin amongst thousands and unlikely to get a second glance.

I think, we should change the initial message to be something like:

What is Biblepay(BBP) - Christian charity coin aimed at supporting charity and orphans.
We need your help. Please help continue our Christian work.

Might catch the attention of some likeminded Christians.

Thanks a lot!  Jaap and Togo have been writing the medium articles and have taken that.  Let's take Dimarzio's idea into consideration and maybe we can run with this from both angles during our next cycle.

And yes, I know we need to answer Togo's questions also in order to evaluate and navigate the actual PR campaigns properly.

I'll take a look at some of the investment topics.  The tricky issue with this - and Jaap and I have discussed this in depth - is with the Howey test we are a utility, and we cannot market biblepay as an investment.  But with the right amount of creative thinking, we might be able to communicate that BiblePay is a store of value - but not a security - another words we need to express that a Christian business or a regular household 401k could hold a certain amount of BBP in place of traditional retirement cash, and target our deflation properties - but we cant legally say anything that promises a return on investment, or markets us as a security.  So we need to really sit down and create a properly worded wiki page with our statement as a utility, but that fulfills the investment objective for PR so our PR department can copy this without worrying our legal department.

How sad, they seemed like good guys.

(Now Im not as unhappy that we went with coinexchange.io since cryptopia would have been a dead end but I say that sadly).

Anyway, I bet they are having a problem finding the root cause of the hack and they are preserving their good reputation by liquidating.  Maybe they will rebrand someday.

Good luck Cryptopia, you are in my prayers to recover all your user assets and your personal shares.

dont worry, enjoy cheap bbp
somebody just left business when btc is high...

Yep, it happens when we have a coin that is emitting a big supply.  I think when we hit our 2.6 billion emission mark things will be pretty bright and rosy, but in the mean time lets try to grab 5000 users.

It's been a while since we talked about this, but I'd just like to remind everyone that the BBP community has donated more than $150k to charity. It's incredible what has been accomplished here, the lives that have been changed. I'm so proud to be a part of this community with you all.

So talking further, what are the steps for someone to invest:

1. They first have to buy Bitcoin, so they create an account on an exchange where they can buy Bitcoin with their government fiat money
2. They link their bank account or credit or debit card (Note: may have to verify personal information for KYC (Know Your Customer))
3. If using coinbase, they do a market order and get their first Bitcoin
https://www.coinbase.com/

Then to buy BiblePay, they have to use another exchange

4. They create an account on a 2nd exchange
5. They generate Bitcoin deposit address on 2nd exchange
6. They send Bitcoin from 1st exchange to 2nd exchange
7. They wait multiple hours
8. They then, now with more scary/confusing chart and numbers, buy BBP with their BTC
https://www.southxchange.com/Market/Book/BBP/BTC

If they dont trust the exchange to hold their funds (I dont: Not your Keys, Not your Coins)
but also risk themselves losing the coins or getting hacked or forgetting their password:

9. Download BiblePay Wallet, Sync the Wallet to the network
10. Generate BiblePay address
11. Send BiblePay from 2nd Exchange to Wallet
12. Encrypt Wallet, Create Wallet Backups

===

Theres a lot of steps!
(Why hasnt anyone made a video on how to do this???)
What regular person is willing to go through all of these steps to invest? Who is technical enough to do it, and also not mess up?

So you have potential target audiences of:
- Stock Trader background
- IT/Technical background
- People who are already Crypto/Altcoin Investors

People already invested into crypto are the easiest to market to,
because you dont have to sell them on Bitcoin/crypto, the first hurdle (why invest?),
and they already know how to invest and use wallets, the second hurdle (education)

Why Invest?
Why invest in Bitcoin?
Why then trade that Bitcoin for BiblePay?
Do we do a good job of why people should invest? How can we do better? What are the compelling reasons?

How to invest?
Do we do a good job of making it easy for people to invest?
Do we do a good job of educating people?
How can we do better?

And just repeating, Who are our target audiences? How do we market to them? How do we get them to find us?

If we want more investors, we need to figure these things out, and implement good solutions!

Who our target audiences are,
How to Market/Advertise to them
and how to best explain BiblePay in one or more lines or pictures
has been in debate and still unclear

We've had debates on how the ANN post should look, What are ANN title should be,
how the Website should look and function, etc etc etc

Im open to any feedback, and we can use all the help we can get!
and I dont think theres necessarily any right answer, it can be pretty subjective
(the only way to be more scientific would be to do A/B testing)

But Id love for us to discuss who are target audiences are and how to best market/appeal to them
and what actions we can take to get more investors

Thinking Out loud questions:
- How do we reach the people that would be most interested in BiblePay?
- How do people find BiblePay?
- What do they see when they find us?
- Why would someone be interested investing in BiblePay?
- How easy is the path to invest?
- How do they stay in the loop / up to date?

Yes, this happened to me today, after running fine for two months. Seems to indeed be RAM-related (I am also on 1GB machines).

The ones I have had running longer without issue (60 days) are at about 85% of the 1GB. Newer one that has been running about 3 days is at about 60%. I don't know what they were using before because I never paid attention to it.
