Part of the problem with getting more players is someone needs to have bitcoins.  Bitcoin is still a very limited community.

Reaching out and introdcing bitcoin to other people is tough.

I'm advertising btcbubble wherever I can think of.  I use bitly so I can just type it in, check the stats if you want http://bit.ly/btcbubble+

I think it's a psychological factor in play here. As you can see, we are still doing amazing, sure we had one very good jackpot (April 28 - May 4), but it was second round, surely a lot of people with no idea how it would turn out just jumped in with all they could risk.

I wasn't basing my view on the amounts, but rather the frequency of seeing new bubbles. I understand the price difference, but it seems like there's only a hand full of people getting any bubbles at all.
I would expect more random people to drop in an advertisement with just one bubble of the lowest amount.

A 5 BTC jackpot is plenty, especially since previous bubble games I've seen didn't even use a jackpot.

It would be nice if you'd reverse your display of the bubbles so the latest spend is on the first page at the top. I guess this would encourage more spends since they will have more views, rather than people coming to the site and seeing the first page or two as all the same thing. This wouldn't really effect the game play, and depending on how you're fetching the bubbles could be as simple as modifying your SQL query to 'ORDER BY id DESC' or whatever you use to select the current order. The only downside to that, is it may cause your 'top spender' ads to be less interesting. Then again, the people that spend more would still be in the top rotation after their bubble is pushed below what most people see when they first visit the site.

Not enough people are advertising the site I guess. Either that, or people just don't want to participate.

I'm thinking it could be interesting to have a reverse style bubble, where the last advertisement is on top, and pushes the others down. So whoever has the last bid gets the most viewed ad. Could also make it so new bids only reset the timer if they are greater than or equal to the previous bid.
Not real sure right now, some ideas are floating around. If I get enough ideas I may create a site :-/

I like the reverse order.

Not sure one the >= last bid

I had also mentioned to give the most recent spender a higher random ranking or an extra spot where the top spender ad is.

First, let's convert jackpots into $ (the value on date they were won):
DateWon
April 28th-$97

I'm just glad I never sold any of those coins... up to $467.10 now Smiley

That just sucks!! How long was mybitcoin down tonight? Will have to actually create my own payment system if this continues.

That is part of it, but I've noticed it dropping quite rapidly. It's a lack of interest by people mostly.
This is wrong, it's actually opposite. It's more money spent in this bubble than ever before, here is why:

First, let's convert jackpots into $ (the value on date they were won):

DateWon
April 28th-$97
May 24th-$335.5
May 27th-$242.5
May 31th-$82.6

If we calculate daily jackpot volume, this is what we get on avarage added to jackpot:

April 19...April 28=97/10=$9.7 daily
April 28...May 24=335.5/27=$12.42 daily
May 24 - May 27=242.5/4=$60.6 daily
May 27 - May 31=82.6/5=$16.5 daily
May 31 - ?=37.86/1=$37.86 daily

I think it's a psychological factor in play here. As you can see, we are still doing amazing-

But wait, there is more... I have stored in my database every single incomming spend sinch launch and I have used this to generate a graph.

The following graph shows you how much $ that was spent (per day) in the bubble. As you can see, the incoming $ has increased to levels we have never seen before.

Daily amount of $ spent at btcbubble

This is the thing about deflation, it looks like the jackpot is going down, less money in the game etc... but it's not true at all.

But could it be that people are spending more money in the bubble, but less people watching it?

Well, according the the traffic stats it's not less popular.

As we can see, the jackpot and daily spends has been exploding in value since launch, and the traffic stats tells us a similar story.

Maybe it's time we make this a lot more visible, by adding $ in parentheses? Who knows? What you guys say?

If we could find a good way to advertise the site and get more people playing, it will create a larger jackpot and a slightly faster game.

More activity is always awesome! It helps to tell everybody you know about it and place it in your signature, but just participating and making every round slightly more exciting than the last is ultimately the greatest factor I think.

No, MyBitcoin has been down for a while, so no one can pay for bubbles (but maybe they have fixed it now :s)

I was going to wake up early to see if someone won, and buy bubbles right at the start.  Didn't here my alarm, there's only 3 pages of burst bubbles, and I'm on page 2, I still haven't had a bubble bursted.

A second bubble sounds good, one slow with large payout/minimums and fast one with smaller payout/minimums.

might be fun to have multiple different sets, with a target jackpot hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, (quarterly or anual interest anyone?) .

Hrly prize, might need to wait for more traffic, but could keep people on the site longer.  Start timer at 60min reset is cut in half with each spend till timer resets at 1min (hope the servers are upto the challenge)
I think the hrly one would need some type of special timer settings like that,or somethinge else

Also just thought, if the spend is close to the previous spend increase the timer on reset.  If the spend is close to timer running out decrease the timer.

Maybe add a feature that shows howmany guests are viewing the page.  I'm not so sure about this myself.  Since observing it will alter the outcome. (quantum physics pun intended), maybe set up an a/b test.

Seems like every one of my suggestions involves significant codeing efforts, sorry.

The hourly and dayly might need micro btc minimums.

Just some suggestions maybe dumb, but could inspire someone else with a good idea.

I posted my bubbles 6 hrs after the reset and its still on page 8.  I somewhat expected them to burst a little quicker.

I'm on my phone, so I can't test firefox right now.

I agree with you guys it's a bit too long with 1 month. I think around 2 weeks is good. Making timer 9 hours was actually a mistake, was planning to start at 8. Then decrease 1 hour next day and so on. But this will be better once I get it dynamic (will be done sometime in June). Maybe I should create another bubble too that's more quick, fixed with 30 minutes timer.

tried to post, It says it went through but i don't see it.

any page with an un-burst bubble in FireFox, will load, show for a sec, then show only the top spender banner.
firefox 3.6.16

everything is fine in chrome, opera, safari Mac OS 10.6.7
and on android browser froyo it works normal too.
It seems Operation Fabulous was down earlier and that caused this... I will try to get this Operation Fabulous thing to load after page has loaded if possible. Please let me know if you are still experiencing this issue though (since Operation Fabulous is up now it should be ok... )

Earlier I requested that the each bubble have the cumulative spend needed to burst the bubbles, but its too much codeing for now.

Was thinking maybe just a cumulative total needed to burst all the bubbles on the page.  Still some coding, hope its considerably less.

TheKoziTwo, I sincerely think a 9 hour timer is much too long!

Completely agree. I'm ok with .01 minimum to begin with, but that should also raise pretty quickly.  I don't like these rounds taking a month each personally.
