Should we confront more people with the argument that most of the digital items that are bought online, might have less value than Crypto currencies.

For me, it's a no. I've had a lot of discussion and arguments with people before regarding cryptocurrency since here in our country they think it's a scam. If people are not interested they are not open to new ideas or innovation. Let them be enlightened when it's too late.

At least, it's good to know you were able to educate your nephew about crypto at a young-age. It would be great if games will be accepting bitcoin as an alternative payment aside from paypal, credit/debit cards so it will be more convenient for players to pay.

In my opinion more and more people a making the mistake of equating bitcoin or cryptocurrency to money.
Bitcoin is not a physical money but rather a digital currency that's has monetary value and can be used for transactions
This is a common way of thinking, whenever one gets into bitcoin usage they'll come to know about it as something highly valuable. Further only they'll begin to explore and know better about the technology and various other factors associated with it. It has multiple usage and one among that is getting used as currency. This is where people understand it in such a way.

There are only two types of people who consider it as a fake money. One who are very old and unable to understand this digital currency. Second one are those who do not want bitcoin to grow and always think negative about it.
The first part is purely the result of ignorance. While the older generation is difficult to get on your side being Bitcoin, it's not impossible at all. It will require Bitcoin to be more user friendly first, the rest comes later.

In order to be better than fiat, you can't endlessly leverage the decentralized nature of Bitcoin being a selling point, because most people don't care enough about it. Bitcoin needs to be exponentially more useful than fiat to make them switch.

The second part are fools. There are always people who can't stand new developments. Gold bugs are quite similar in that regard--they'll always look down on Bitcoin because they can't accept that it's better than gold in every way.

Well that's basically how everyone should start explaining what bitcoin / crypto really is and how much can it affect real world transactions for an individual.
Start of with a basic example then some advanced ones where you have been before such as buying some real life good.

As your nephew said at first sight it was fake because he didn't had the knowledge that could be exchanged into some real property value such as money.
After you gave out some brief explanations he realized it started being a reality.

Nice to read, it is a good thing to educate people around you. The older generations are more skeptic toward crypto currencies around me but the young ones most of the time totally get the concept. Matter of time or the first graders will get it explained at school. ; )

Still many people consider bitcoin as a fake currency and that is really strange to know. There are only two types of people who consider it as a fake money. One who are very old and unable to understand this digital currency. Second one are those who do not want bitcoin to grow and always think negative about it.

Last weekend I spend some time with some of my relatives and one of them were playing a online game called, Forge of Empires. This is a browser-based strategy game with more than 10 million registered users  Shocked

The main goal of the game is to expand and develop a city beginning from the Stone Age and ending in the Virtual Future. (They even have Crypto currencies as a tradable commodity within the game)  Grin

So after watching my nephew playing for 1 hour and talking to him, he revealed to me that he spend over $1000 on buying virtual diamonds in the game.  Roll Eyes

We started talking about real Crypto currencies and he immediately started the argument that Crypto currencies are "fake" money and that it was not real money or even a commodity. My counter argument floored him, because I asked him if the diamonds that he bought in the game was real or if the items that he bought in the game was real.?

His whole perspective on Crypto currencies changed, when he realized that digital items can have a value and that the virtual items that he bought within the game had less value than the bitcoins that can be bought and sold.  Wink

He asked me to help him buy some bitcoins and he was very happy after a week, when he saw his investment in the supposed "fake" money, going up in value when the price increased.

Should we confront more people with the argument that most of the digital items that are bought online, might have less value than Crypto currencies.  Wink

Ps. I emailed the developers of the game and asked them if they might consider accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, but they gave the generic answer that they are open to new payment options, but they cannot give a timeframe for when this might happen.  Tongue

Still majority people have no awareness about cyrpto currency so whenever we discuses in front of them, they simply say that it is fake, in online most of the works are scamming.
I give you instance, i met with banker, he also called to bitcoin fake money. I try to convince him, but i realize people have different perspective about crypto or bitcoin.

The fact that Bitcoin can be fake money, can only speak those who do not know all the advantages of Bitcoin. It is difficult to argue with the fact that Bitcoin in our time occupies the first place in the cryptocurrency market. About him spread information around the world. This is a digital asset that in the future will probably be recognized by the whole society.

I think it is in the interest of gaming producers and manufacturers in general to find new payment methods for their services. Thus, the number of clients will grow, and they will be seen as open-minds, open to new challenges.
But at the moment, Bitcoin can not be used as a means of payment for games because the Bitcoin trading process is not as easy as paying with the card. Bitcoin will be an alternative payment method in the future, but until then it needs to improve its system and make it easier to use for all categories of people.

Many people still keep saying about bitcoin is fake money and trying to make some time the same with bitcoin and have scam many investors, just wait when bitcoin raised to higher price you can give them the best value of bitcoin.
They just say that bitcoin is fake because price got down so much which they expect to gain profit. Lot of stores accept bitcoin already, so people have to know better about it too that it can work like a fiat and much easier to transact everywhere.

I think more Bitcoin developers should create virtual gaming worlds and sell customised virtual items for these games.  Wink

Not a gamer but if this will happen, it would be a big step for improvement in the market.
Bitcoin payment only would force them to use bitcoin only and the demand will be enormous, we are just starting, it's not far from happening.

Bitcoin is not fake money....Only fake to those who don't understands it.

You dont need to be a gamer and play this bitcoin related games to be able to appreciate their worth because all of us here that uses a bitcoin did appreaciate this kind of idea because this can be another way to gain attraction which will also help the price to increase .  i support this idea and i support what kakmakr said that devs should start creating a game that bitcoin payments can be used because until now , bitcoin based games are not really get noticed

The gamer angle was just mentioned, because it is so ironic that people will associate value to digital items in games, but when you talk about a digital token like Bitcoin, they think it is some kind of scam or a worthless piece of code.

The other reason why "gamers" should be targeted is the spinoff affect, let me explain. Child play games, wants to upgrade in-game items with dad's credit card, dad says no because it is a security risk. Dad rather use Bitcoin because it is a safe payment option for online payments.   Wink

Yes, I completely agree with the poster. While a lot of young people have moved on to the crypto world others are still in a world of denial. This makes bitcoin more and more confusing to many people. Coupled with h the fact that some governments have banned and labelled it as illegal. It's a matter of time as people will continue to see the prospect in. Cryptocurrencies

Believe that someone who says Bitcoin as fake money just wants to lead public opinion to make the public sell the Bitcoin they have so that it can be an opportunity for that person to buy Bitcoin at a cheap price. The perpetrator only makes a mess and for people who believe in Bitcoin can certainly avoid things like this.

bitcoin isn't fake money, it has value same as fiat. different is fiat have physical paper to know number of value of money.
bitcoin has value as electronic payment. to get number, people must have physical electronic like phone and laptop. we can print it to know value and tell it to everyone

When you compare cryptocurrencies with something microtransaction-like payment i don't think that was an equivalent. Of course all of that will be priceless. But thanks, now he know which one worth to buy.

Indeed, an education to cryptocurrency are very lack for new people. They give an assessment to cryptocurrency only heard for some bad information or just their imagination. Just a visible thing that will have a value but for something that not visible they will ignore it and assume it's a fraud or fake. And bitcoin included to the someting that not visible so as in a natural manner they will think bitcoin just a fake and they should avoid it. I appreciate what you have done, because to make someone convinced to bitcoin is really hard. Greatfully, the price bitcoin increased at that time so as with profit thing theh will easily to believe it.

Of course they would doubt. But as you explain how bitcoin works then he's happy to use it right?
People would always doubt "bitcoin" but because it isn't a scam and is serving the true meaning of a digital currency that is owned by the public, bitcoin just needs to be discovered, share it to people if you will and everything would come easy.

Make it have it's own identity as bitcoin.

Sounds better. The world will always doubt bitcoin so it's better to have it's own identity to be known. Later on, if it would be accepted by the masses, it won't be pegged to dollars or any traditional currency anymore for it's identity is it's own for it's own.

Bitcoin is digital money that we can make as an alternative to our local currency and it wasn't fake money at all. People did not easily understand this because they don't know how bitcoin it will work and what technology behind on this thing. Forget haters of bitcoin let us show them how successful we are when we adopt and embrace the cryptocurrencies. Maybe someday they just realized how bitcoin worth it to them and get profit as what we have done.

Most of the people around were with similar level of understanding about cryptocurrency and the virtual money. It is our responsibility to make them correct and go on the right path. People find it really different when heard for the very first time, but the usage and when they experience using it similar to fiat will get to know better and begins to make use of bitcoin.
They would appreciate it once they use it, it's different from a traditional payment system, we have the most advance and the most transparent.
For users who loves to transact money online, they can be our potential users and if we can convince them, they will be part of the system and they will not only discover bitcoin but also altcoins since this space is so big that needs to be explored.

I think it's better to not force it to be like money at all. It's an alternative. It can be used for transactions just like money but somehow different. Some people will find it a bit confusing if we always compare the two and there of course will be some who won't have trust in btc that way. Make it have it's own identity as bitcoin.
