I live in Lithuania and I can say that my country is bitcoin friendly. We have some bitcoin startups which already become popular worldwide like Spectrocoin or Coingate. There are some shops and business which accepts bitcoin, we can pay for taxi with bitcoin.
But there are some negative things: our central banks gave warning to use bitcoin only at our own risk. Also, media creates negative opinion about bitcoin.

Which country has most number of bitcoin users, miners and vendors? And in which country bitcoin is accepted the most? Like in at institutes or super malls or stores etc.
Has such data been calculated and available on the world wide web?

My personal list that I consider that are bitcoin friendly countries are China, U.S, and center europe.

There may be also other countries but those that I read in the news are mostly these including Switzerland, Norway etc.

And this is a good news because bitcoin is getting popular in rich countries which can indirectly invest in bitcoin.

Well Switzerland is going hard when it comes to being friendly to Bitcoin, which is kind of fascinating in its own right. Considering that they weren't really specifying their interest in bitcoin prior to the last few weeks, I would say that they're very open to the idea.

Norway or Denmark was also supposed to be relatively comfortable with the idea of Bitcoin too, if I remember correctly.

You can get a lot of the countries are bitcoin friendly at the South America, there are a lot of bitcoiners in there. And it's already supported by their environment. A lot of store which accepts bitcoin for his payment.
I may think if in some countries outside of the South America the bitcoin will be becoming friendly for all while Russian are pull his statement for ban bitcoin in his country.
I haven't heard of a lot of Bitcoin users coming out of South America, but if it does have a fair amount of users down there then that's some very good news. If you don't mind me asking, to your knowledge, do they primarily come out of Brazil or are they spread out more?

I know that there are some European countries that are incredibly friendly to Bitcoin, but I can't name them off of the top of my head.

I think philippines is a bitcoin friendly country.
Many filipino is using bitcoin and some are creatinf altcoin that is affiliated in philippines like pesobit.
Banks in the philippines is slowly accepting bitcoins by letteting them withdraw it in their banks

It's not the "banks" accepting bitcoin.
It's just the local exchange having an agreement/deal with the bank wherein when you cash-out, the coins are converted by the exchange(sold to the exchange) to fiat.

They then buy eGivecash from Security Bank(a single-use virtual gift card) with the amount you sold.
They send you the codes and you get to withdraw it from the bank's ATM machines.
It's just a convenient service the exchange offers.

Besides, I haven't even seen a single physical shop where you could buy directly with Bitcoin. (Have you? Please share.)

I would also go for the U.S. , Australia, the Netherlands, and France as being top bitcoin-friendly countries as they do have plenty of merchants accepting bitcoin.

Mining is China.

A lot of people are saying USA, but in my opinion the USA regard Bitcoin as a commodity and not a currency. I would say, if someone consider

that Bitcoin should be seen as a currency for a country to be truly "Bitcoin friendly" then based on that, I would go for Japan. Japan officially

recognizes bitcoin and digital currencies as money.  Wink  .... The Australian federal government is also changing their stance on Cryptocurrency,

so we might see some good vibes coming from down under too.  Grin

Bitcoin has users from all around the world, but it is used more in eastern Asia countries and South America countries if I am not wrong, especially China which has great impact on Bitcoin price as the biggest Bitcoin mining companies work in China.

yes that is a fact that the number of bitcoin users are more in China but i think you can also find the users of bitcoin in all over the world, like India, Russina, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Dubai, American Japan, Canada, USA etc.

I think the Netherlands is using Bitcoin a lot. There is a valley on which there are only Bitcoin shops, as far as I remember. The Dutch always liked freedom and anonymity. I've been there this summer and it's a great country and yes, it is friendly with Bitcoin.

Netherlands are very open minded this is true.
I had been in Arnhem where you can pay with Bitcoin in many stores, shops, cafes and markets.
If you ever should be go to the netherlands Arnhem is a must for a Bitcoiner!

I can't exactly say that the Philippines is bitcoin-friendly but if we base the transaction volume coming from there, which I think ranks in the top 5, you can say that the Philippines is ahead of most other countries. We know that the Filipinos are very fond of social media and are very much almost always online, so the digital currency is something that they are already using.

I agree with you, I can say also that Philippines is one of the Bitcoin
friendly countries. Because their is bitcoin freedom, government does
not have anyt strict rules about it. Also, bitcoin is spreading anywhere
in the Philippines because of its easy use, and hassle free.!

I wanted to reply to a comment on that last article you posted (10 bitcoin friendly countries):

Quote
I feel germany is missing there, it´s 100% legal to use Bitcoin, a lot of btc nodes are in germany, even the german tax authority has an website about how to tax your bitcoin (25% on profits, but taxfree after 1 year holding etc)...
Germany is also a safe heaven for data protection, has a reason the tor guys reside in berlin and not USA i guess.

Also look into belgium and switzerland a bit more, they are bitcoin friendly too.

Totally disagree with the commenter that Belgium is a Bitcoin friendly country, there are almost no merchants in real life that accept Bitcoin.
Also almost no Bitcoin ATM's, so compared to our neighbor, The Netherlands, it's really slim pickings here for Bitcoin people.

I do hope that changes soon.

On the other hand, a guy was detained in France after a policeman heard him uttering the word "Bitcoin".
This is totally unbelievable story. But it wasn't a policeman, it was customs official. We can read original story here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/21cp72/french_customs_arrested_me_for_saying_the_word/
It was 2 years ago, since that time fame of silk road dimmed a little. Also people's general awareness of what Bitcoin is raised a little. I can't imagine something like this happening today.

I have a friend there an I agree that Netherlands has an active bitcoin community. Thy are well aware abot bitcboin. Also, I consider Philippines is a bitcoin Friendly country since it has a local exchanges where you can exchange your bitcoin to local currency and you can transfer to your bank account or through remitances.

Well I don't come from the country where bitcoin is widely accepted and used but I've read some news that claimed that France just had 25 of their stores and malls accepted bitcoin as payment just now and I see that France has quite a lot of places use bitcoin. So I would say that France is one of the bitcoin friendly countries  Grin

I already considered Philippines to be a Bitcoin-friendly country because so far there is no government move to restrict the use and spread of Bitcoin and I hope there would be none in the future once Bitcoin would really be popular. I do hope the government would see Bitcoin as just another Paypal thing.
