Sort of a contradiction wouldn't you say? We could easily be looking at a situation far worse than 2008. The 2013 Cyprus financial mess is chump change compared to Greece (roughly 11 to 12 times). $1,200 to $1,300 Bitcoin could be a conservative number. Most of the experts I follow predicted the Euro would fail years ago. Try doing a Google search. If the Euro drops to $ .85 cents or so, we will see Bitcoin at $1,500 plus. The US stock market has been pumped by artificially low interest rates, and could easily repeat 2008's high dive act. The odds of Bitcoin going much higher are becoming more probable, and more likely by the minute.

It isn't just that Europe is facing the biggest financial crisis in world history, it's also the USA's $200 trillion plus in obligations.

1200 in a month is not going to happen. 1200 before end of 2015 is probable but not likely. I would say the peak in 2015 will be around 600ish.

maybe he is talking about a spike, it could be for few sec or one day, like it was at 100 for a few sec and the real price was around 400-600

because 1300 in less then 3 weeks is beyond unrealistic, it feel like a radnom guess

i think it is best to keep your bitcoin as long as you can. especially if you don't need the money or it is a small amount and doesn't change anything.
now that the price is rising and continuing this way, and since there is a block halving on the way next year, all these can be good points to make you keep your coins.

If this friend is satisfied w/ meager gains then I would say it's up to them as they don't deserve to benefit from what bitcoin has to offer to the world. After the bear market that we went through, I'd consider this lack of confidence in a returning bull market to be somewhat of an insult.

Well, it's made it to the $270s and is stable, this is a good sign but I still fail to see how it can go 5x from here in a month without a massive pump/dump. I think btc is past this sort of manipulation you still see (rarely) in the altcoins.

He should wait at least until May 2016. Then, maybe sell. $300 is going to be really cheap BTC in May 2016, I reckon.

Agreed. That's a very good point I was expecting the price to react to that as well. If that happened during the bear trend there would have been a major drop.

it wasn't a big deal like the TX limit, which did caused a decline in bitcoin, if something major like that happen again, the price will suffer another dump, but as long as it can recover afterward, it will be stronger than before

Agreed. That's a very good point I was expecting the price to react to that as well. If that happened during the bear trend there would have been a major drop.

exact numbers and timing points are less relevant than the opinion that we are at the beginning of a sharp uptrend.
If it will be proven to be so, such opinion should be considered VERY valuable.
However, I am not 100% convinced yet, so my slow accumulation continues (no bulk purchases yet).
One good sign, though: bitcoin price totally ignored the false block mining fiasco. Few months ago we would have lost at least 10% on that.
If bitcoin will ignore one more "negative" news for it, like Greece making a deal with EU on Mon-Tue, I would be convinced that we are at least in a medium term uptrend.
