As a matter fact the BTG as i understand it its designed and built to work only on CPU.
It could work on GPU but the mining price would be very expansive and quite difficult to set up.

I hope it stays GPU only, i know it won't have as much hashrate as BTC due to no asics but it will keep it away from being controlled by the chinese

I think Bitcoin Gold was made to mine with GPU but I read the article that make a statement that no clear instructions are available for how to split your BTC from your BTG. Exchanges and software/hardware wallets are still deciding on whether they’ll support this fork.

Only problem with Bitcoin Gold is that it is going to be distributed to everyone that has Bitcoin. Expect a lot of dumping on the markets when it makes its debut. By the time you move your coins from pool to market, it's profitability may vanish.

Is there any more informations that BTC Gold will be GPU mineable? If it will be I will try it for sure.

Yes, that's what the developers of btc gold are saying. They claim that BTC gold can be easily mined by using gpu cards, so that everyone can mine it from their home. Bitcoin can be mined by only those who have asic miner which is quite expensive and many cannot afford to buy that. But you don't need a asic miner for BTC Gold and this is also the major difference between bitcoin and bitcoingold. Anyways lets wait for its release to know more about its mining procedures.

Even bitcoin invented satoshi expects bitcoin to be mined easily using PC cores and GPU cards alone but now we able to mine the bitcoin using ASIC miners alone. Just wait till the splitting is taken part, after that only we can say 100% percent how it is been mined.
Even in the time of last hard fork August itself, we all expects that two coins gonna split from bitcoin now it is gonna become real soon.

Well the difficulty is supposed to be not as high as bitcoin and BCH as they plan to make it ASIC resistant.
It will run on the Equihash algorithm which is the same as Zcash. Therefore, it will be mineable with all the current GPUs.

I'm not sure how profitable it's going to be at the beginning though as almost everyone will probably jump into it to try it out which means a sudden spike in hashrate and difficulty. What's more interesting is its mining profitability in two or three months.

Actually considering that it might be a successful one and attract some miners from zcash and other equi coins, does that mean difficulty can go on those other coins ? Which means more money as diff should go down ?

I'm not sure but all I can say is that there's a lot of interesting stuff to come and this is one of them.

PS: Move this topic to the mining(altcoins) section. Any coin other than btc belongs there (even splits and hard-forked ones)

Bitcoin golding are the their limited supply and huge demand.
Bitcoin is a virtual currency,  it's is mined and generated,  but it's rate of generation is very slow and that creates a demand and it's unavailability create a price hike among the people.
Bitcoin become an source of easily trading and exchanging goods.

It will be "easy", but if there's even a sliver of profitability, expect the difficulty to go up an insane amount.

You should be able to use the same cards you use for Ethereum to mine Bitcoin Gold.
Bitcoin gold is going to use the Equihash, which is the same as Zcash you can also mine with your cards.
However the speed may be lower then cards from a different brand, as you're now mining Ethereum you probably have AMD, which is better for Ethash. NVIDEA seems to be more optimized for Equihash ming. Mining difficulty will be easy at first but will rapidly increase is my guess, I think a lot of people are going to mine Bitcoin Gold when it releases.

Wondering what rig would be profitable, at least in the beginning. Because right now, my ZEC 4X480 Nitro's aint making shit.
Plus what happened with all that "save the worlds energy,go green" crap. With all that mining farms that mined Ethereum until now, these guys are sure to get a nice start up hash power. What else do they have to offer. I just hope they will give us ZEC guys some room to breathe

That is the goal of Bitcoin Gold. They want to make it ASIC proof so that only GPUs can Mine it. I definitely will try it out when it comes out.

Hey guys,

just read a post about the new hardfork. I heard that the mining difficulty for Bitcoin Gold will be again "easy". Is that true? Can I use the cards I use for ethereum mining, for Bitcoin Gold?

Thank you in advance!
