Yet another country belonging to south east asia has now got ready to adopt bitcoin.Thailand being an important tourist spot,it would be a great news for travelers who use bitcoins to travel to thailand.Definitely,it would indirectly help for progress of thailand's economy by attracting more bitcoin users to travel there.

Especially considering the world population percentage that is situated in the Asias, it's amazing to see how well Bitcoin is being accepted (for the most part, except for China). It just makes the coin more widespread and allows more people to be introduced to it to use as a currency. I want to see bitcoin get into the hands of those who really could use the money especially in the impoverished parts of Asia, where mere amounts of money can make all the difference.

Thailand, along with Malaysia, Ohilippines, Singapore and Indonesia, (Vietnam coming close behind) have actually been pretty adaptable with digital currencies, and Bitcoin is no different. Thailand still has a very small share of the trading volume on Localbitcoins, but they and their neighbours have been seeing incredible growth in volume since the end of 2016.

Infrastructure-wise, there's quite a lot to support the growth in urban cities, the only downside is that a lot of Bitcoin use is perceived by local forum users to be related HYIP and other less-than-acceptable activities - though I say this from a Malaysian, rather than Thai perspective (can't read Thai!). Southeast Asia is coming up, though, that's for sure.

Japan is going to accept and regulate BTC as means of payment. My question is: With BTC becoming mainstream, regulated and not fungible...what will be BTC 2.0? i mean wich will be the coin for the darknet and for the guys that are privacy focussed?

Wow I am happy that the bitcoin is getting in the Thailand isn’t you? You are looking for the account but I think the best thing is to keep the bitcoin in your wallet and try to make the bitcoin secure and the safe currency so that you will be able to enjoy the profit of the bitcoin. I like the crypto currency and the worth of the bitcoin because the bitcoin is now being famous all around the world and I and the value will be more than double.

This is good news. It shows how bitcoin is becoming more and more widely accepted everywhere. I hope the government of Thailand remains in support of bitcoins unlike other countries which are making bitcoin illegal, banning bitcoin exchange , taxing bitcoin mining ...etc . I hope we see more good news like this.

Bangkok casino is the one of the most famous casino next to the Las Vegas. Their main income in the tourism and exports. Since tourism is in the top, surely involvement of bitcoin is the must needy thing for them. Their adoption on bitcoin is good move for their government only. However, congrats to take bitcoin in that land. If it is become legal in their country. That is is next big adoption we got for bitcoin.

with bitcoin acceptance, despite tourist using bitcoin, I think it will boost Thailand economic because tourism is a major economic factor, isn't it?
I hope some other southeast-Asian country will accept bitcoin more.

Philippines is already leading the way in the South East Asian region. But I agree that with Thailand joining the picture it will be another boost specially that they have a lot of tourist spots and accepting bitcoin will be a major push for their country financially.

This is really good news for Thailand and also for digital nomads. I believe Thailand is also having an interesting citizenship program where you can buy in 5 to 30 years of citizenship. This is certainly aimed to retired people but I wouldn't be surprised seeing crypto nomads and investors going to Thailand if the country becomes open to this world.

This is quite awesome!

Yes, this is really good news for all bitcoin enthusiast who wish to settle in a bitcoin friendly country and I'm sure Thailand will be one on their list. So its gonna be a win-win situation for the country and the bitcoin loving community. I'm not sure though Thailand involvement in our forum. Maybe its time to visit their and see how active their local boards is. Because is definitely a sign that bitcoin is alive in their country.

Really? That's amazing. Is access to the internet not an issue here? I thought a lot of people in Thailand did not have access to devices with internet. And who pays the transaction fees? The store, the customer or is it a split? If it's on the store's side then they get a smaller cut for each item bought by bitcoin. So they would have to increase all their prices to account for the expected amount of transaction fees. In a way this would make the people who pays with Baht subsidize those who pay with bitcoin.

Do not rejoice. This is another fake. We constantly encounter such news, but none of them confirmed. The government uses the laws of classical Economics. According to these laws, bitcoin is a classic pyramid scheme. Who will take responsibility for the country in any moment can fail? Governments will never accept bitcoins.

It is so nice hear that good news, as Thailand government start embracing bitcoin , it is potential to gain more attractions to tourist most likely  European to visit Thailand because European are well educated about bitcoin and it is easy for them to process cashless transaction aside credit card, now they have an option to pay in bitcoin, future ahead Thailand would be the next bitcoin haven in Asia aside from Japan and South Korea and it could also boost their tourism industry. The negative effect, as Thailand is the source of some illegal drug trade, i bet this would be another transaction gateway to drug traders.

Bitcoin is something that should be welcomed to each country as it also has the ability to elevate one’s country to be developed as it invigorates the economy and able to entice other companies to invest on it as there is something new that can be worked on.
