Wester Union is for people who didn't know Bitcoin or for people who still difficulties with internet access, if they know about Bitcoin they will change the payment to Bitcoin, Bitcoin is more lower fee than other payment method. Bitcoin is better than Western Union in fee transaction.

Forget western union. We have bitcoins, PayPal and visa debit card.
I think many people have forgotten western union, it is evident that many western union offices were closed because of lack of customers who come in, I think users have started to use something more sophisticated
I think it is not the case from where I come from. Western Union is still very much alive here and I see more branches with a lot of customers. They are not stand alone money transfer services anymore, because there are other offerings in their branches. Bitcoin is still way behind WU in terms of popularity and I think that will be the case for the next few years.

Bitcoin is waaay better sir, i spent a lot of money using western union, their ridiculously expensive charges is just crazy, glad my nephew told me about bitcoin and it helps me a lot saving money and happy not to pay extremely expensive charges on western union, though there's a bit charge on bitcoin still not as expensive as western union.

Except most people who are using Western Union are doing so because they need CASH.
Its nice to get Bitcoin in your wallet, but until you can pay your electricity bill with it, there will still need to be ways to transfer cash.
If there was an ATM you could cash your BTC in and get paper fiat currency it would serve the same purpose, but right now you are talking about two totally different things.

Bitcoin is far more better than western union, first is the transaction fee is much cheaper than WU, second is faster than WU. Third point is less people using it means less scammers, so many negirian scams by using WU.
you are right that bitcoin transaction fees is very much cheaper and a lot of people know that bitcoin transaction is very much faster than WU because bitcoin technology is very much modern and stable and stronger because a lot of people adopting bitcoin everyday.

Western Union at best is a major ripoff.

Used them a couple of times as there was no other way to send funds quickly but since getting involved with bitcoin I've never been back to WU and doubt I ever will.
Same for me I used a couple of times Western Union system before bitcoin existed when I need cash badly at the abroad. There was more than %10 fee (I don't know the up to date fee now). I don't think I will use again the Western Union. And I also think the use of bitcoin  will rise day by day.

The reason why WU is surviving and is still in demand as people have no other choice then WU to send or receive money in quick time as they are not aware about bitcoin yet and WU is widely spread and you will see it branches in each and every corner of the world and it also exist since long time and is more popular then bitcoins but when people will start discovering bitcoin I am sure they will switch to bitcoins for money transfers.
Yea absolutely you are right. The problem of bitcoin now is the popularity. When the use of bitcoin will increase, the use of Western Union and many other money transfer systems even bank system will decrease. You only need the internet for money transfer with a very very cheap fee.

The only thing Bitcoin is missing is the popularity. While you can send many, many transactions through Western Union, there aren't many places you can do this at using Bitcoin. Maybe it gets more popular in the future and we will be able to complete transactions through BTC in as many places as we can with credit cards or PayPal, etc.
right popularity is the lacking one of Bitcoin but still people are ignorant how Bitcoin works and they think its too much hassle for them to study new things like Bitcoin. Most countries who rely on remittance do send money thru Western Union but if they somehow knows Bitcoin maybe they would change how they can send money and will not go back to western union.

Really not too surprising to see this. Would really love to check this chart out in about 3-4 years. I'd be willing to bet bitcoin will at least surpass paypal (and hopefully put them out of business as well) if not be on part with visa/discover. I'm curious what the asking price for 1 BTC will be around that time as well....
I guess, paypal was already beaten by the bitcoin, actually when you try to post about paying through paypal for sure many will be giving you an advice of pay through bitcoin since it is more faster and easier and mostly money is non-refundable unlike paypal.
Of course people here in this forum will advice Bitcoin over anything else, it's not for nothing that it's called BitcoinTalk. Roll Eyes

PayPal hasn't been beaten by Bitcoin. By far not. If people here advicing Bitcoin over anything else is a confirmation that PayPal has been beaten, then it says a lot about you.

Other thing is that when you use your PayPal balance to send money from one account to the other, it comes through instantly. In this case Bitcoin has no speed advantage.

Bitcoin transactions in most cases also comes through instantly, which of course also depends on nodes broadcasting your transactions, but you still have to wait for your transactions to confirm.

Have you tried sending bitcoins lately? The fees are getting ridiculously high. You can't say anymore that bitcoin is dirt cheap to sent.
We need fee war to end ASAP or we could say goodbye to bitcoin being used as remittance solution or small money transfers.
I don't even want to start on microtransactions, because bitcoin seems unfitted for this purpose.
Are you serious? Is 0.18USD such a big fee? I don't think so. In my country sometimes you pay more comission when you put some money on your phone than this. Well, you actually have to pay around 8%of the sum as an additional fee. Isn't it the same in your country? Or don't you pay when you transfer money from one card to another? I think bitcoin has a fair fee.
In my country, we have to pay nearly 18+% of tax to any legal transaction, in some cases, it will cross 30%. Depends on the business. But for Bitcoin transaction, we will pay only 1% tax. Which is better? For me, Bitcoin is far better than fiat transaction. But we don't have a chance to pay through bitcoin except for few payments.

I have never used western union, but from all I know, you can send cash money to everybody on the planet, right to his doorstep.
The recipient does not have to do anything, except maybe sign somewhere.
Bitcoin is way mor complicated. You need a wallet and often ways to convert the coins into fiat. I think a lot of people simply can not manage that.
Both have their advantages, it depends on the people what option suits them better.

If we compare the services between bitcoin and Western Union to send or receive money to everybody on the planet.
- bitcoin isn't that complicated, even easier. Everyone can send the money right to the pocket (smartphone) /room (PC) as easy as sending an email. Moreover, lower fee compare to any remittance service.
- to sending money using Western Union, you have to go to the WU office, fill the document and pay the higher fee. You said, never used Western Union, so you don't know how complicated it is.

It's like bitcoin is all in all and western union is just used for sending and receiving money. Bitcoin is way better for it because of the cheaper fees, though WU is also good for paying goods and services to the merchants only if they are accepting payments through remittance. And you are going to use WU for it.
i think there is no match between bitcoin and western Unions, bitcoin is a currency a digital currency, which can be use for buying selling stuffs. and can also be use in physical shops in some area. bitcoin always give you opportunities for making money from trading and investment. whereas Western Union is just the medium of sending and receiving your own money.

One thing that Bitcoin sucks at is getting or sending payments for 0% fee. Other payment processors falling behind have already figured this out and can probably start hitting Bitcoin where it's most vulnerable - the fees for normal daily microtransactions are just too much. Bitcoin is fine for remittances but for microtransactions hell no.

I say for now yes, I am sure that if all humans know about bitcoin, then they would leave the financial system as they wear, with bitcoin everything so simple, and we could have full control of all transactions on its own without the help of the other party.
As you can see the graph, the bitcoin is color green and look in the bottom part, you see the sentence that the bitcoin is as of 7 days. The other transactions is not as of 7 days only. So, not only western union but all of them is the low. And the people who used bitcoin is very small as of now cause its new. What if the bitcoin used by millions of people? Its is multiply thrice the transactions or more.
