I think bitcoin is much better than western union because aside from the fact that it gives us lower free which we don't even feel we can transact money instantly ! If I sent it to someone there is no need for him to verify it's identity and Instantly get the cash ! So when I send money from my family all over the world I prefer Bitcoin rather than western union or other financial services company.

i agree with you that bitcoin is really much more better than western union because we know that bitcoin is available in everywhere nowadays and the main thing is that bitcoin transaction fees is very much lower than western union so i like bitcoin than western union.

The first two points are good to go when compare bitcoin with Western union but i think still in many places Western union is used for mainly either both the merchants unaware of bitcoin and in some cases one merchant what to do business in bitcoins but the other is not aware of it so it has to be done by other means like western union etc. Bitcoin is yet to be introduced everywhere to fully eliminate western union like services.
Surely bitcoin is better than western union because it just remit the money that we are sending to someone locally or international. It's just a normal remittance center but with bitcoin its advantage are so many, it is a currency itself and you can send already it to whomever without using any other software or center as long the receiver has bitcoin address.
I couldn't agree more, Bitcoin remittance is the best and presents the lowest of charges unlike western union, moneygram amongst other forms of foreign money remittance companies. Therefore I will chose Bitcoin to transfer money any day than the others even though it isn't well known like the others.
Yeah remittance centers not just western union are charging higher fee than bitcoin is offering. And this is a good thing for us who knows bitcoin, if we have relatives offshore we can just teach them how to use bitcoin for sending and receiving. When they know it already, teaching them how to convert it to a local exchange is another step which is an easy one.
Bitcoin is a hundred times better than western union because it gets there faster and of course the fees are much cheaper and you don't have to make so much hassle to go and collect or send it and post all your details.

Using Western Union will only make you add additional charges while using your Bitcoin Wallet you will send your money Free of Charge to anyone you want to send it to.
Bitcoin transaction has fee's too. But if you compare it to western union the fee of bitcoin transactions is too low if you compare it. Some people that aren't using bitcoin is preferring western union as their remittance center because I agree that their service is good.
Western Union is outdated now if you compare it to Bitcoin. I don't even remember anyone using it I know. As soon as I was aware of Bitcoin I immediately switched to it, reasons were no fees. I could be anonymous, and most importantly that it is decentralised, and it's pricing is just going up and up. I love Bitcoin over all other exchanges mode and can't always am telling people to buy and exchange through Bitcoin, though some times I do transact through PayPal also. Western union I think no one uses in my circle, so for me it's obsolete.

Really not too surprising to see this. Would really love to check this chart out in about 3-4 years. I'd be willing to bet bitcoin will at least surpass paypal (and hopefully put them out of business as well) if not be on part with visa/discover. I'm curious what the asking price for 1 BTC will be around that time as well....

Bitcoin is already overcome the western union, there was not anything to say at the western union is already overcome by bitcoin due their achievement bitcoin is much good than western union. at the middle of 2016 bitcoin is already overcome western union

maybe the price volatility of bitcoin is too extreme, the reason few of the merchants would with bells on to accept bitcoin. 1. easy to use

I used western union once and never again, for 130 euros they took more then 20 euros, that is a robbery. On table that OP posted bitcoin is more used then wu, and now from paypal as Ryan Dugan posted above.

With the existence of bitcoin we don't need WU or banks anymore for money transfer as it can be easily done with minimum transaction fees and fast credits whereas bank transfers takes certain period of time for making credits but with bitcoin it can be done instantly and I think bitcoin is far better then WU.
According to the graph that shows, Bitcoin is much more better than western union. Which is really true, when it comes to money transfer to other country in bitcoin is a big advantage if we are going to use it instead of western, in terms of charges in every transactions, much more convenient, no hassle, safe and secure than anything else.
I never use western union, so I think like that. I think western union is only used for the delivery of fast, but it is very difficult to do business with it. bitcoin is still better than in western unioin, because we can not make a profit with it other than fast delivery.
This thread is still around an almost an year passed since my last post, almost nothing changed. To buy/sell BTC for fiat you need to go through infinite hoops, even at Coinbase. Lots of KYC regulations, waiting periods and then comes all the technical mumbojumbo that no average person in the street will figure out, not all people are geeks believe or not. Private keys, long ass addresses. At the end you are also hugely exposed to volatility, fees and delays in the blockchain too.
It may not be BTC's fault but let's not fool ourselves here, Western Union, Paypal and other methods are cheaper and easier for the average person. If BTC had come with a simpler/cheaper solution it would be the defacto method already to move money/remittances.
