Bitcoin is dead according to Mike Hearns, could this be the turning point in which bitcoin becomes just another altcoin and the altcoins will rise up and take away the market cap that belonged to bitcoin?  Smiley

What a terrible healdine and disheartning for Bitcoin, even after all its been through and help so many. Bitcoin has secured many charity organisation. Even large firms such as Microsoft and Steam have accepted it as a means of payment; theres no way it can be dead. And theres no way they would accept another altcoin if Bitcoin would ever fall, it would just mean that cryptocurrency is unrealiable.

Bitcoin is not dead. It just need more time to slowly reach up to $1k price. If bitcoin will be dead and that's not good

because even the altcoins price will rise, it doesn't make sense because in the end you always need to trade it for bitcoin to get your profit from the altcoins.

I stand with Ukraine.
I don't think we can say it's dead. BTC has overcome the halving!

Exactly this. $675 is a decent price to continue mining and there are no signs that the price will drop in the future, on the contrary it looks like it will be rising slowly with time.

Bitcoin was a nice 1.0 project but apparently wrecked by the devs who have proven themselves to be incapable of handling the bitcoin project. Many altcoins have learnt from their mistakes, could this be the turning point in which bitcoin becomes just another altcoin and the altcoins will rise up and take away the market cap that belonged to bitcoin?  Smiley

It's not going to happen because they are all cheap copies of Bitcoin and Bitcoin is original & because the price is falling doesn't mean that Bitcoin is dying .

Strongly agree with this. Killing their creator will only make them worst. Population that supports bitcoin will go with bitcoin fall and might not go to altcoins seeing that might happen again.

I think bitcoin is fine right now and i'm not sure bitcoin will be dead in a short time. I mean, it will takes a long time to make bitcoin dead and i think bitcoin can survive up to 100 years.

6 months on, and we still the best Crypto currency based on popularity and adoption and also in hash power and decentralization. So it's official, Mike Hearn was wrong and he was only shilling for his new job at R3. Bitcoin not only has 9 lives like a cat. ^smile^

If bitcoin is dead , in this world doesn't have altcoin now.
If altcoin without bitcoin , altcoin is worthless and priceless. But , if bitcoin without altcoin that's different..
Bitcoin just like base on other coin ...  Grin

Bitcoin is doing just fine.

The only major problems lately are some altcoins wanting to use bitcoin's established infrastructure for their own projects.

The thing with altcoins, as far as I'm concerned,  is they are mostly used just for trading, and they are still basing their price on bitcoin. Unless there's a group that creates a new kind of technology that could send cryptocurrency into obsolescence, then bitcoin would continue to be the best of its kind. Altcoins of different varieties have come and gone, while bitcoin remains the top of the digital currency food chain.

do you heard news about the ultcoin hacking. i think you have not heard the news. you know that the present panic of bitcoin was because of bitcoin. the price of the bitcoin fall down because of the news spread about altcoin. then how can it possible that ultcoin is taking the place of the bitcoin. i think you should  view the rate difference between bitcoin and ultcoin. ultcoin is too far from bitcoin and i think it cannot reach to bitcoin in next few years.  i am very sure about that.
I don't think that altcoin of zero importance has anything to do with current situation of Bitcoin markets.
And not I never heard about Ultcoin to begin with so I guess this coin had a market cap of $1000 or something

The only valid crypto good enough to put your trust in - is Bitcoin. It seems people has to learn about it the hard way.

Altcoins are cool, but it doesn't really seem / look like bitcoin is dead.

Altcoins have good future ahead but that doesn't make bitcoin dead, bitcoin is the best digital currency of all, and it will be more powerful in future too.

Btc is prime it is it will be some alt might come slise to it but btc is king
yeah, bitcoin is the best currency that has ever been created and it will remain like that for all the time because other cryptos will never have that much power in my opinion

altcoins might rise a lot and become really big but to be honest it will never replace bitcoin whatever will happen, bitcoin was and will be the best currency in the world

Totally agree. Question for OP, what alt do you bet will win? I'm all in Ethereum, it's the most advanced coin out at the moment, highly recommend. I invested 30,000$ back a few months ago after minergate support mentioned they were going to add it, so glad, that investements now worth over 100,000$, and no plans of selling!
