Obviously it's never going to be extinct. I don't know why you even consider that it can be extinct. Bitcoin is a very strong curreny which has great prospects for future. I have posted a recent thread and that shows bitcoin even went to $3 until it revived back to $19k. I don't know why people are still worried when it's $8k. Bitcoin is here to stay even the governments won't find it that easy to ban crypto because if it would have been that easy it would have already be banned. So chill out it's never going extinct.

There's no such thing for which you can claim ''It's gonna last forever'' because most probably, that won't happen. On the other side, Bitcoin has indeed bright future and it took more than a decade for it be what it has become now. And it still didn't reach its peak.

Bitcoin is never going to be extinct
I believe its consensus will be higher and higher in the future.

I believe everything is replaceable so time will come it will become extinct. That will happen when something greater than bitcoin will be created. If people find that more useful they will shift using that. Think like this, before smartphones there were telephones but now it slowly disappears and the future generation won't even know it exists.

I'm sure people where saying that about Sony Walkman's, about analogue TV and lots of other stuff that is now outdated and dead.

Unfortunately, in our current society, everything has a pass by date and especially for technology, with such huge innovations had in the field.

With Bitcoin, I wouldn't see it surviving anymore then 20 years from now - I'm sure blockchain technology would be obselete by then.

bitcoin is different because its a currency  . currency is something that is hard to replace or possible to be not replace at all  . plus there are many older digital currencies than bitcoin but until now they are still there existing  .  while bitcoin is a new kind of a digital currency , it has a new feature that oldies dont have  .

It is hard to say that Bitcoin is going to be in this market forever. I think these are baby steps of Bitcoin now and it has a very bright future too. But that doesn't mean Bitcoin will never die out.
Future updates from this project will be the determining factors whether this coin will last forever or it will be replaced by another one that will be introduced along the way. So far bitcoin still moving positively even we are seeing a lot of sways. End users will be the deciding tool if what would be the future for this
crypto currency, existence will be there as long as users are supporting the chain.

I think Bitcoin will need to increase blocksize and change to something more energy efficient than Proof of Work to be sustainable long-term.

Bitcoin is still awaiting for major adoption, while we are confident on it, we are still unsure what the future unfolds. There are also many altcoins there that are trying to replace bitcoin. And if ever bitcoin becomes a normal currency for everybody in this world, there's still the "never say never". Because change is constant. Everything has an end. Super fast computers in year 3000 might make bitcoin nuisance anymore. We never know. Let us just embrace what bitcoin brings today.

We really don't know what the future holds, there might be one coin in the future that will challenge bitcoin's dominant or bitcoin will remain as the most recognisable and it is being used by the masses. Technically it's not going to be extinct, as we haven't reach the 21 million supply.

But for the sake or argument, we have seen some competition coming from ETH (Flippening) and XRP (Rippening) but it was not that successful.

If that's just an expression to how long bitcoin would exist, then we can consider it right because bitcoin is still in its early stages. But if it meant literally, that's impossible. There would always be something that would be better than the present. You'll never know, few years from now, there might exist a coin that would, or would not have the blockchain technology, with far more faster transactions, more secured algorithms, and other advancements. We cannot assume that Bitcoin would not pass away, it's just that the time to get to that point is still too long.

If there will ever be anything better than btc, it will come to coexist with btc, I don't think it will be enough to out rightly wipe btc from existence,  for all will know that could happen many years to come and possibly by then btc has been widely spread and used by many in that period,  so how easy do you think a new coin can come and replace that to the point of erasing btc completely?
To me I think btc will be very much around because everyday many people,  institutions, organizations, companies  e.t.c are accepting btc into their business and that says alot.

With the number of people using bitcoin and it's evwn increasing day by day, it's really hard to believe that bitcoin will be extinct. Even how much the government tries to ban crypto, they cannot stop the power of bitcoin and us. Bitcoin will remain as long there's a single person using and believing bitcoin

Bitcoin can be considered as the currency of the future, however, I believe that as new technology emerges something new might become more convenient than crypto. We cannot actually tell what lies ahead, but as for now let's enjoy the opportunities that crypto brings to us. Crypto still has a long way to go, we need more acceptance from the government for us to reach total mass adoptation.

We will all become extinct someday. That is the rule no one or nothing is exempted. The earth you are walking on will not even be exempted from it. Bitcoin is a product of a particular age or era in technology, in financial technology to be exact, and as it has a beginning so it will have an end.

I like your optimistic view on Bitcoin and I kind of support it, but remember - you should never make investment/trading decisions based purely based on your opinion. You should have some kind of intelligence to back your decisions and always, always employ proper risk management. Believe me.. you don't want to lose your life's savings due to a reckless decision that something won't ever die. Cryptocurrencies are a world phenomenon of course, but you need to consider risk factors like government strictly banning bitcoin and whoever uses it will get inprisoned or things like that..Maybe a new (better?) crypto comes into the market.

I think as long as it will circulate on the market and using as alternate payment method then it will never be extinct and also the price of bitcoin could be much higher in the future since the supply will be lessen and miners too since the difficulty of mining and getting a reward just to get a one bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency is the future payment and most likely to adopt all over the world and we can became paperless money.

I do believe same, btc has already been created and introduced to the world and many people already embracing it, just recently I read in a thread that satoshi has been included in the oxford dictionary, meaning anyone can look up the meaning of satoshi from the dictionary,  that's an achievement,
Plus the adoption of btc is spreading more rapidly than before.

Bitcoin is never going to be extinct

There is no such thing as forever in this world and all things will eventually end but there are those which exhibit long-lasting qualities and I am expecting that Bitcoin can be a part of that list. As long as there is a good demand and supply, I think Bitcoin will be doing fine and we will continue appreciating and making Bitcoin popular and widely used. Nobody can be sure of the future. With the way it is right now, Bitcoin could not survive due to scalability problem so let's hope that acceptable solutions can be found for many challenges that Bitcoin is facing. As long as there are people like us who love to use and trade Bitcoin, then this coin is not going to be extinct, definitely!

I believe its consensus will be higher and higher in the future.

You must be talking here of the price of Bitcoin, am I correct? In the near and far away future, as long as Bitcoin's demand is increasing its price has the chance to also continue expanding though it is not going to be on a straight line. The history of Bitcoin has been littered with many surprises and unexpected stories so it will be the same for the next 10 more years. There will be small and big dips, crashes, bears, bulls and many things in between. Just continue on hodling and soon you will be rewarded.

Bitcoin is never going to be extinct
I believe its consensus will be higher and higher in the future.

It is not certain if bitcoin will be here for a lifetime. There is still a tendency that it will be replaced by a much more better currency. Just like the fiat currency that we wanted to be replaced with cryptocurrency, bitcoin will also come to a point that people will be tired by it and create much more better currency. But this event will be no happening within a decade starting today since I believe bitcoin will reach the point of being mainstreamed and will be accepted by all countries. But far off in the future everything has a limit and an end and bitcoin is included.
