Bitcoin is money, but it all depends on how you earn money. Investments or trade with bitcoins also carry a risk and can lead to loss of money like gambling.
Well trading without skills is more of a gambling. Bitcoins can be considered as a gambling for those who buy bitcoin as an asset if they don't study the Value graph . Like if they buy bitcoins for $4500 and the prices go down they would the face loss .
The fluctuating value of bitcoins makes it look like gambling.
Yes, bitcoin is actually trading and not gambling. Bitcoins can give you a good profit by holding coins but gambling is instant. Gambling does not actually need a lot time and can make instant decisions giving you profit or loss. Gambling is not predictable and also most of the bitcoiners will insist you to stay far from gambling because gambling will give you more loss the n profit. Gambling has fast money but that fast money can also be prove to be harmful. It is better to invest in altcoins or bitcoins rather than gambling.

Investing is usually a gamble, so I would argue that investing in Bitcoins can be considered a gamble. You just never know what the price will be tomorrow, so you could potentially lose or gain money.

If you're buying Bitcoins to purchase something else though, then it's just a simple currency.

Bitcoin is not gambling, gambling is you place bet and you are totally dependent on your luck and in few minutes you win or loss. Bitcoin is something different you buy coins and hold them for long or short term and wait for price to increase.

I don't know why people say bitcoin is gambling. Its not gambling. You are investing your money and time. You use your internet. So its not gambling dealing with it.

At some point, yes it is. Investing by any kind of investment instrument has a corresponding risk. A risk that you might loose your money instead of gain interest. Which is why, I agree to you it is not TECHNICALLY gambling, but it is kinda sort of a gambling concept. The bet in the Bitcoin investment would be having the price go up.

What differs actually is that in investment, you can manage and minimize the risk. Unlike the real gambling, the chances of winning or loosing is fixed.

It depends on your way of earning and using bitcoin. There are several ways to get and use it. Some people use it as bet in online gambling sites, so that's what you call gambling. But other methods are not. It is more of working than gambling. It is accomplishing some task then get paid. Gambling here is more on its usage because the users decides on how to spend it

I really think that there is more than just gambling. Are you comparing it to gambling or you are saying bitcoin is gambling itself?
We can see in this forum that bitcoin is not just for gambling and can be seen in gambling. Campaigns pays in bitcoins too as well as offering skills for bitcoins. In the future there will be for shopping, restaurants, hotels and etc.Try exploring and bitcoin will mean so much more.

I think it's a relative bro. depending on we get the bitcoin. because there are some gambling sites with bitcoin payouts.

which other people often ask me if trading is a gamble?

for me Gambling and trading are two different activities.

Gambling is an activity of drawing fate! For example - grab a dice, select a number and then hope the number will appear, throw the chest ... the decision-making process is complete when the dice is thrown, the end we never know and can not control it.

Then what about trading? Trading is a decision-making activity involving many aspects ranging from market research and analysis, financial management and risk management to psychology management to recognizing market psychology as well as the ability to control oneself.

Then does the name 'fate' not participate in determining the end result of a trading?

Of course! The final outcome remains the mystery of "human planning and hope, God determines" - errors in calculations and analysis in a trading activity is very likely.

But what distinguishes a trader from a gambler is - a trader has the ability to read things and then change them - for example by counter-trading, running a backup strategy when realizing the predefined calculation and analysis is wrong. A trader has the ability to turn an unfortunate circumstance into a favorable state for himself.

Yes bitcoin is really not gambling. Those people who say it is gambling does not really know about bitcoin, which is a wrong perception about bitcoin. Actually when I first heard of bitcoin, I also thought that bitcoin is just about gambling so I don't show any interest to it. Now, I have known bitcoin and have discovered that bitcoin is not gambling.

sometimes I also say the bitcoin is called gambling
I just invested with my own capital
so feel confused too

i think bitcoin is not gambling if you know when you buy and when you sell. by learning from many source, you can analyze the chart and decide the price you want to buy and sell. but if you don't learn anything and you are make random buy without doing analyze then i think its called gambling and you only depend with your luck.

I do agree in my own opinion that bitcoins is not gambling because it is a virtual currency. Gambling is only one form or a way to use bitcoins and you can use it on a different way like cashing out directly or invest on something. Just in my case I'm cashing it out so it will be added to my savings.
