bitcoin is number one not only because of it being introduced earlier than all the other currencies , but due to its potential . it has gained the trust of people almost all over the world and i think its diffcult for any other currency to achieve taht to achirve that . it has successfully overcome lots of obstacles it has faced either due to govern,emts and banks or gredy miners itslf . ethereum, monero, Zcash which were once expected very much are not able to replace it. Bitcoin has given people a new means of earning option, cheap way of transcting , secured investment, free from government hands and i think that it would be hard fot any other single altcoin do deliver such huge number of features.
I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.
We can never really tell what will be the future of all this digital currencies in the market, but what is important is they are being competitive in the market. That will help this technology to flourish even more and catch the interest of the consuming public. It will definitely benefits us even more if the competition between this contenders become more intense. So, it does not really matter who is going to be the toughest of them all.
Nothing seems a problem with bitcoin, right now ethereum has made a big growth. This makes people think that bitcoin might go down in value. But the reality is that more the growth experienced, more will be the competence and based on this always bitcoin stands first
It seems like it will happen. Because of the number of coins that want to compete with bitcoin. But it will be difficult to replace the number one bitcoin. That would be so hard i'm sure.
What I observe about bitcoin is it is still young in the market and having big potential to grow very fast. Ups and down comes and goes we should not worry about it as nothing is constant and stable. Analyzing the future of bitcoin performance I strongly believe that Bitcoin will stay as Number One for long.
Bitcoin will forever remain a force to recon with in the cryptocurrency world. I don't see any altcoin overtaking it. This is not possible in near future as no coin has the potential to beat bitcoin. Ethereum which appears to be the major contender will take yet a while to reach $5k.
That would b possible, but who can tell.right now bitcoin is the king of all forms of digital currency and i think i will remain that way. Today there are so many interested in bitcoin,with the knowledge or information that has been in the market with all good positive comments that you can read about it it is quite impossible to put bitcoin to n end.
I just want to reply even though this is an old post. Based on your expectation, ethereium could surpass bitcoin by summer 2018. Well, the first quarter of the year is almost over and the eth price is still way more behind of bitcoin. It is actually more than a hundred percent lagging for the bitcoin price and I assume that even the end of the year, eth price can't step even half of the price of bitcoin. Nevertheless, it is still a good sign that eth price is continually increasing as the time goes by.
We should not compare these two in terms of price only. As an investor, you should make the judgement based on the returns you are getting on different investment options. Bitcoin prices are already quite high (about $10000) at the time of writing this post. Even with most optimistic estimate, it will be about $30000 by the end of 2018. Now suppose, you invest in $100 worth bitcoins, you will get $300 at the end of the year. If you invest $100 in Ethereum at current price level, you will at least make $500. Similarly, you can get even better returns with other less priced coins.

I dont think so.For me bitcoin will still be number one in all crptocurrency.I think no one can defeat botcoin.No altcoins becomes more popular than bitcoin.
I agree that bitcoin may not stay in the top for long. The current competition is so huge that the chances that something better than bitcoin will appear are increasing day by day.
This is the long time dreams of some of the altcoin investors.But I think it's not possible for anycoin to replace the bitcoin.Many coins with good potential is live in a market ,but it's not that much easy to get the first rank in the Crypto market.Atleast a decade is needed for such things to happen.

That might be true. But I do not believe Ethereum will be able to hold their gains for long. Sooner or later the price has to go down simply because that is what markets do.
So always remind yourself not to get lost in the mania and try to stay objective. In a market like this, it is easy to think that the good days will never end.

If that time will come bitcoin will not be number 1 but one thing for sure bitcoin will not end its existence.Another coin may born but btc will always on the top.Hoping bitcoin will last for many years.

And almost a year later now, we can see you were wrong and you're miles off with your prediction.
I believe the main rival of Bitcoin is Ethereum and Ripple, Both are capable of surpassing the marketcap of Bitcoin in future. But there are also high possibility for Bitcoin to remain at #1 for a long time. Taking the #1 spot from Bitcoin is not happening anytime soon.
Yes, bitcoin brings the best coin technology, it's the hottest topic in the world, but in reality, nothing is forever, in a highly competitive market for crypto technology. Although bitcoin may stumble, imagine its dedication for a long time to be proud and it gives us the opportunity to change lives. Yes,we will still see some tokens that will overthrown btc in the long run, a token i think will do that must be supported by many government and the use case must be in demand.
