Bitcoin and ethereum are good for long term investment but if you were asking my opinion, i will go for ethereum because ethereum has so many space to grow means it can be big as bitcoin in the future if the project continue to success.
in my opinion, bitcoin is worth holding in 3 to 5 years. because it has been stable from 2008 to the present. ether can be retained in 2 to 3 years. it is also very young, compared to Bitcoin.
It seems the ETH has more potential as it has big user community and active developments.

I am confused about these two (BTC and ETH), which one is best to invest/hold for long term ?? How much time I should hold from these two?? Price is going up now a days, what is the best time to buy ? I should wait for buy right now ?
The market is again down at this moment but both Ethereum and Bitcoin would be good option for long term crypto investment. These cryptos have already withstand various market dumps which simply proves that these coins are having a higher chance to recovery at any dumps in the market compared to other cryptos especially the newly listed ones or those that are from ICO projects. I choose bitcoin than ethereum, ethereum still give me a good profit so far and I think with trading ethereum, it will give another money for me. bitcoin cannot compare with ethereum because it's different and bitcoin still lead the market with the expensive price while ethereum still trying to increase the price. I see that with many projects using ethereum as the base network, ethereum will increase higher soon after bitcoin reach the highest price too and I will make sure that I am ready to sell my ethereum at the highest price.
If you think logically and take coins for a long time, then both of these coins are good, I advise you to take 50 to 50, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
I choose ETH, this coin has at least some future, and BTC is obsolete, soon its price will go even lower than now.
Both of these coins do have good potential, but for now, prices are red. I think bitcoin will still be a good long-term investment. For Eth, it seems short-term investment. Actually, the community is strong but for the movement of the graph tends to bitcoin.
it is hard to select ethereum for a long-term strategy because the price of ethereum still getting down without stop and from time to time, the price still down. maybe we can move to choose bitcoin now because the bitcoin price although it is down, the price can increase for a little so it will give us a chance to make a little profit.
I'll give you my perspective. I've been investing in the cryptoworld a little over a year. I bought 70% of my eth between $400 and $500 when that was the weekly fluctuation. I had a 2 eth weekly buy set up on colonnade. I've made a bit of money and I still tell friends to buy. I plan on holding for the next few years minimum. I really believe the future will be built on crypto, ethereum specifically. I feel like we found the cheat code to life and it would be dumb not to use it.

I think that btc is definitely best to have everyone including me offered to hold this coin for a long time if you have it or just buy it at any time when you will not be at a loss for sure with this cryptocurrency.
both are great for long-term investments, depending on the capital you have if you have a lot of capital buy bitcoin but if only have a little capital then I suggest you to buy ethereum.
