VERY positive article here:

http://www.canada.com/Bitcoins+create+truly+democratic+policy+followers/5144669/story.html

Favorite excerpts:

Quote
``It's like the Mona Lisa.'' said Bruce Wagner, an IT consultant who discovered bitcoin in October and now hosts an online TV show about it. ``It's a masterpiece of technology.''

Quote
``If we remember, 15 years ago if you were doing anything on the Internet you were going to make millions,'' said Kenna. ``I think it could be the same with bitcoin.''

That was a very good article. I really like how the author didn't go "ZOMG peeple kan buy drugz with bitcoin!" like alot of the earlier ones.

Another Canadian newspaper article (online).

Skeptics of financial system push Bitcoin as alternative online currency.

Not very accurate, and some negative tones.

"As an economist, I think it's just a stupid idea," says Antweiler, who teaches about online commerce.

i rofl'd when i heard that.  Im so excited to see the world changing before our eyes!

Yeah, I literally laughed out loud at that line.

Social payments system Dwolla surpasses $1mm per day in transactions

http://thenextweb.com/insider/2011/07/21/social-payments-system-dwolla-surpasses-1mm-per-day-in-transactions/

(mentions that "at least part of Dwolla’s explosive growth is being caused by the ease of compatibility between it and the Bitcoin currency system.")

33GB of public domain JSTOR articles, and a manifesto (thepiratebay.org)

Currently the #1 article on Ycombinator.  Best part: the torrent uploader, Greg Maxwell, includes a bitcoin address in the Pirate Bay torrent description: 14csFEJHk3SYbkBmajyJ3ktpsd2TmwDEBb.  A worthy donation.

Dunno, can someone go and ask him what is exactly that Bitcoin thing and how does it fit?

It would be way better then.

it makes the whole thing seem like a cheap marketing scheme, or worse - feeds the ponzi/pyramid arguments (stupid as that may be)

I actually refuse signing up to TradeHill since I do not support referral schemes for exactly this reason, and I think anyone dealing with anything that might get published should remove referral tags completely.

It just looks bad.

Anyway I'm pleased it turned out fine in the end though.

If Max having to reword every single thing you said about bitcoin because it was confusing and disconnected is fine then.. yeah. Honestly, you should have declined this interview or suggested someone else better suited for interviews within your bitcoin circle. I'm not saying this because I think badly of you in any way on personal level because I do not know you, but you were a sharp contrast to people that show up on the show normally who speak on interviews on a show I watch everyday. You had tough time giving clear and concise answers to questions you were asked and you were all over different random, unrelated, and even negative topics. I understand that it is something new and unfamiliar for you and I do highly commend you for taking your time to help promote bitcoin without a doubt. I appreciate all of your efforts, but I definitely felt without a doubt that the job was best if left for someone else with more talent in speaking and it was a good opportunity lost to on gathering interest from a very good target demographics.

BITCOIN ON RT

Max Keiser on RT, Bitcoin is discussed in all of the 2nd half of show.

http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/finance-politics-gold-money/

Amir Taaki gave a good perspective on Bitcoins, but Max Keiser really makes it shine and is pumping it up for all its worth.

Way to go Max !!!!

Encourage everyone to view this Keiser Video.

Bitcoins is looking stronger every day.

Thanks. This was extremely awkward situation for me. I've done a bunch of interviews already but this was quite weird :p

It was extremely hot, uncomfortable stool and the microphone voice was very loud "hey could you turn down that microph-" "AND WE'RE ON IN 3! 2! 1! WELCOME TO ..."

OK, but that's dealable, but the awkward part was having no visual feedback. I was basically doing a telephone interview where everybody could see me. Check out this email exchange:

k, no worries. Was a helpful hint. Might be worth setting up.

Anyway I'm pleased it turned out fine in the end though. Our group is making great progress on our bitcoin projects. We just tonight released a bitcoin rewrite http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=30646.0 and new exchange software is coming soon too also Smiley

Answer: a lot. Is it worth the risks?

How terribly vague and uninsightful.

When you have economic systems dependent on debt and military complexes, what could go wrong?  Derp.

Tax Tips
Bitcoins: The Taxless Currency
Josh Ritchie on July 18, 2011
http://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/bitcoins-the-taxless-currency/07182011-7115

(An interesting graphic on bitcoin and tax)

A few details in there are completely wrong or just plain confused, but overall it isn't too bad. This will bring in some people. The biggest problem with it (for some people) is that it seems to imply that simply using bitcoins makes transactions tax-free. This may or may not be the case, depending on the government and the transaction. (And of course, some people don't give a rat's ass what some criminal gang thinks about whether you might owe them money or not.)
