Getting in on the ground floor of a new currency

http://poststar.com/app/blogs/?p=69740&cat=2669

This isn't the 1st time I've seen the user 'dacoinminster' pimping his tradehill referrer code in the comments of news articles.
Way to trash the good publicity with a 'spammy' feel  :/

Yup. That is me.

I make almost no money from doing that, but I really like TradeHill and it is fun to help them out.

I think it is good to have a link to someplace you can actually buy bitcoins for the person just finding out about them in a news article, so I don't feel that it is completely out of place.

As an out of the blue post .. it makes the whole thing seem like a cheap marketing scheme, or worse - feeds the ponzi/pyramid arguments (stupid as that may be).

Just my opinion.. but I reckon it doesn't help.
As an answer to someone asking where to buy.. it'd be fine.

Leads with old news of the 'stunning crash'  and is overall quite negative on bitcoin.

BITCOIN ON RT

Max Keiser on RT, Bitcoin is discussed in all of the 2nd half of show.

http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/finance-politics-gold-money/

Amir Taaki gave a good perspective on Bitcoins, but Max Keiser really makes it shine and is pumping it up for all its worth.

Way to go Max !!!!

Encourage everyone to view this Keiser Video.

Bitcoins is looking stronger every day.

Only one mention of Bitcoins..     chalk this one up as slightly bad press by association I guess.

World's Leading Bitcoin Exchange, Mt.Gox, Acquires MtGoxLive.com

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/7/prweb8656007.htm

" ...in addition to raising the accepted standards for security within the industry, Tibanne Co. Ltd. is continually working toward building the best possible services for its clients."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Because site hangs and mysql errors are "the best possible services"

I have a love-hate with MtGox.  They have all the volume.  They have a few nice features that I wish Trade Hill would incorporate.  But the back-end to MtGox SUCKS.  I am a software engineer who does back end architecture.  I know they SUCK.

Coin of the cyber realm
How the geek set hopes to create a new world currency, one that relies on a network of users, not on a central banker

http://www.vancouversun.com/Cyber+Coin+Internet+currency/5125735/story.html

This is just a syndication of the previous Ottawa Citizen article.. I don't know that it's worth posting such syndicated items here in general, except to give an idea of how much exposure bitcoin is getting. Presumably the vancouver sun is 'notable' even if it's not the source.

He always interviews like that, this wasn't a one-off. For me, he is total cringe. I hope he learns something before he embarrasses the technology again.

You are being way too harsh.

Also, while it's true that he isn't the most articulate spokesperson for bitcoin out there, let's not forget he does speak to a growing segment of the population (i.e. the young). Now, this may not make much of a difference today... but these are the folks that will be carrying bitcoin forward five to ten years from now.
